Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez has confirmed he has left a decision on Nikola Zigic's future in the player's hands.

However, reports from Spain now suggest that Aston Villa, Everton and Sunderland are all keen to sign Zigic on a season-long loan.

Zigic and his agent are expected to meet with Valencia on Monday evening to discuss his imminent exit from the club.

Gomez told skysports.com: "The exit of Nikola Zigic is next (to happen). "Now, the decision corresponds with them (Zigic and his agent) and Valencia is prepared to close the deal."

A host of English clubs are reported to have shown an interest in the 27-year-old, favouring an agreement which would see Zigic move on loan, but still willing to take on his salary.

Maybe another lad on loan?

I don't think this will happen.

I'm 99% sure you can only have 2 players in on loan? That's why Portsmouth had to sign a player before they could bring in Jerome Thomas.

Nope, the 2 loan player ruling is for players from another Premiership club.

I seem to remember you can have 4 or 5 loan players - certainly only allowed to name 4 loan players in the squad for a Premiership match.

Nice. :D

I mean, he'd get a lot of UEFA cup games with us..don't see how it could be a difficult decision for him...

Pompey wanted to free up a space for another potential loan signing.

Just checked and appears Premier League rules are 4 loan transfers per club per season with a maximum of 1 loan player from the same Premier League team.

Premier League refers to loans an "temporary transfers", which there are different variations. Emergency loans are a different kettle of fish...
