macc fan
Could be off due to frozen pitch!!! EVERTON GAME IN SERIOUS DOUBT By Matt B Posted on Thursday 01 Jan 2009 20:05:00 The upcoming FA Cup Third Round game at home to Everton this Saturday is under serious threat after the recent cold snap has left the Moss Rose surface looking more like an ice rink. Event Solutions, a local company from Holmes Chapel, had offered to supply the club specialist heating equipment to ensure the game would go ahead as planned. Unfortunately for the club all the custom-made pitch covers used in these situations were in use at Deepdale, The Valley and Sandown racecourse. The ground staff had devised an idea in which marquee tarpaulins could be used but after consultation with the experts it was decided that it simply would not be feasable due to the massive area which needs to be covered. Volunteers continue to put the hours in to ensure the game will take place Further work on the pitch is planned for tomorrow but with temperatures set to hit -3 tonight it's definitely not looking good. That said though MTFC Chairman Mike Rance was quick to thank the hard working supporters who managed to give up so much time both yesterday and today. "Once again we would like to thank these fans for their dedication in braving the cold on New Year's Day to come along and help us out. It's disappointing that we were unable to really get any work done on the pitch." said Mike. "But it was certainly heartening to see so many people so keen to get involved in helping out. I hope they all know how much we appreciate their support." Be sure stay logged into MaccFans.co.uk to keep upto pace with the latest developments regarding the state of the pitch. DangerMouse
Some interesting stats. Macclesfield's best FA Cup record is the third round. They have managed it six times and crashed out to the likes of Chelsea, Port Vale, Fulham, West Ham, Watford and Swansea. Last year they failed to get past the first round losing 3-1 to Rushden & Diamonds and to get to the third round this year they have beaten Port Vale and Harlow. We on the other hand have the final as our best run, we have won the FA Cup on five recent occasions and even though we crashed out of the cup at the same time as Macclesfield we have a better record. On paper the game looks like its going to be dominated by us. Macclesfield 0 Everton 4 wow are you for real?????????????/
immacculate
In reply to the pub question , park up near the ground but don't leave anything visible in the car and walk back towards the town centre for about 5 mins till you reach a pub called the Albion, within 100 yards there are 4 other pubs so plenty of choice. The temperature here has improved over night but BBC have forecast minus 6 tonight but hopefully they are wrong. Regarding the game I hope we do ourselves justice, you turn ouy a strong side and if we can score I would be delighted . My prediction is Macc 1 Everton
The_Boxing_Aussie
I can't see the Macclesfield team beating us,so the reserves should get their chance.
jamiemaher85
Just read this stat on BBC Website, and for anyone (Dark) who thinks that we can easily win this tie and that we should consider it a done deal. "David Moyes has a disastrous FA Cup record with Everton. He has won only four ties in five years. "
EFC-Paul
Give the lad a break its his own judgement on the game nothing more its unfair to say he's showing his age and he is naive, like most have said on here i think we can beat Arsenal so surely a win as Dark predicts can be acheived against Macclesfield i mean no disrespect to Macclesfield and hope they do give us a good game but i think its pretty unfair on Dark how people have jumped on his comments. I know cup games can throw up all kinds of suprises and upsets but i do predict on current form a comfortable win we are playing very good football at present and with Macclesfield having conceded 17 goals in their last 7 games the odds look stacked against them, I think we will win the game 3-1. All the best to Macclesfield and their lads on here. Edited January 2, 2009 by EFC-Paul
MikeO
...i think its pretty unfair on Dark how people have jumped on his comments. If we didn't jump on him dark would think we didn't love him any more .

12thman
Just spent most of the afternoon helping with the covering of the pitch. The Ref came & said he was pleased with it but will have to look at it in the morning. we have a guy on it all night with the hot air blowers so fingers crossed. At one point this afternoon the Everton team turned up to have a look at the pitch which was a surprise to us all. Cahill tripped on one of the covers & twisted his ankle. The Beard
Im hopeful for a comfortable 3-0 to the Blues but take nothing for granted. Any news on the game getting the go ahead?
Guest efctaxi
If it goes ahead , I think it might be a tough game . Can't afford any injuries etc and 2 players on 4 yellows . 1-0 to Everton

c1982
Anyone going to Goodison to watch tv?! I opted out of the 200 odd mile round trip to watch tv at Goodison park (was tempted though). Think we all agree we should win and majority feel we will, but it's by no means a dead cert. I can see moyes keeping the core of the 1st team in place and giving players like VDM, gosling, nash, rodwell a chance. If we take them seriously and play proffessionally i reckon 3-0 to us. The Regulator
Anyone got any team news ahead of the game? I'd like to see: Howard Hibbert Jagielka Lescott Baines Osman Neville Arteta Pienaar Cahill Anichebe Bench: Nash, Rodwell, Fellaini, Gosling, van der Meyde, Kissock, Jutkiewicz. Think we could use shandy andy, gosling, and jabberwocky as subs, if all goes well i have an optimistic 2 - 0 in mind, Lescott and Cahill. MikeO
Big Vic starts, Mo on the bench (thankfully). Spot on Davey. Also cup-ties all the potential targets (Lescott/Arteta eg) and makes them slightly less attractive to City/Arse etc .
