Nick Powell

This lad looks super special, I think he is a midfielder/forward for Crewe they reckon he could be the best player they have ever produced. Some of his goals this year have been amazing. Hopefully we are lining him up for a loan back to them

Have we signed him then?

Here's one (and a clone) from February..

Incidentally, he has the same agency representing him as Chris Long and John Lundstram (both of Everton academy).

and the Post.

Powell last month became the first player in Crewe’s history to sweep the board at the club’s end-of-season awards, claiming all five major prizes.

Crewe assistant manager Neil Baker said: “It will take a lot of doing, but he could be the best of the lot.

“He's a special player. He's not only a great individual, he works hard for the team as well.”

How's Garbutt looking?

Garbutt has excellent delivery from open play and set pieces and has made a couple of decent challenges too. He has been caught a couple of times positionally but that will come with age hopefully. The Cheltenham system hasn't allowed him to bomb down the left too much but certainly what he's done so far has been encouraging.

Powell just looks a natural talent.

Garbutt does seem to be able to hit a ball well. He has a long throw too. Cheltenham are sort of long ball merchants though. They have their keeper kick it to their striker, Burgess. Crewe trying to play good football though. They actually seem to have some very decent, young players.

Perfectly timed tackle in the box now by Garbutt.

Clayton looks top notch too at 17!!! Gradi/Crewe are quite incredible at producing talent (9 of the starting 11 home grown today!) - I'm surprised Gradi hasn't worked in some capacity at a much higher level.

Powelly scoring a worldy aha. Thought Murphey played well, very efficient, doesn't set the world on fire but does his job and puts his body on the line.

Problem with Nick's game, was made apparent today, that being his work rate. Not a 'runner', but has undoubted technical ability. wouldn't go in his favour? Great ability though.

Clayton will be very good eventually. Reminds me of a young Ollić, terrier of a player, with quick feet and good movement.
