MikeO
....rumoured that he will pocket $2 million Australian dollars a year and in the process of joining Sydney he turned down a move to Premier League strugglers Liverpool. That's "only" about £24,000 a week.....he'd have got three or four times that at Liverpool and he still turned them down . Dalziel Kane
Del Piero was probably at his peak around 1996, 1997. No surprise Juventus did so well at the time, although it wasn't just him that made an impression, they had a plethora of good players, but he was such a vital component of that team. It's real surprising he is still playing in any capacity, must be into his mid 30's by now. He's no Teddy Sheringham. Even if he did make a move to Anfield this calendar year, I don't suppose there's an awful much he could have contributed. I was unaware he had turned down such a move too until it was mentioned. Dalziel Kane
He's a player I've always admired. would have loved to have seen him at Goodison in the late 1990s, even if it wasn't feasibly possible. I think under Smith, he would have just wanted out soon enough anyway. Scholes is a tribute to tenacity, and I can remember as clear as yesterday Giggs making his debut in 1990/91 I think it was. I don't like Manchester United, but recognize these two as fine ambassadors of the game who have stayed with it through thick and thin and at least warrant a mention.
