Dalziel Kane
something somebody said in an above response brought about a spontaneous moment of mirth. In any event, have to go for obscure nations here, so will try with (four remaining) #1 Burkina Faso #2 Malawi #3 Equatorial Guinea #4 Swaziland don't folllow african soccer much (if at all) in my defense, so it could be just about anything

MikeO
That'd be the '77 League cup final. Not sure who the captain was but I'll try Dennis Mortimer. Actually could still have been him (if that's right) when they won the title and the European Cup a few years later. Prior to those probably Genghis Khan. MikeO
Denis Mortimer is one (won the European Cup in 1982). I've got the programme for the '77 final somewhere . Back in a bit....if I'm not it means I fell off the ladder climbing into the loft and I'm dead or in hospital....and it'll be your fault Zoo. I hope you can live with the guilt. I hope you can live with the guilt. and that would constitute cheating. You're supposed to use actual soccer knowledge for this without help of reference ? Helps if you simply put down Aston Villas last three most recent successes 1996 League Cup - captain - I don't know who was captain for that, maybe Southgate or Yorke, but stabs in the dark here 1994 League Cup - captain - McGrath maybe, but don't know for sure 1982 European Cup - captain - Mortimer as answered, but wouldn't have known that. Thought it was Peter Withe from memory, but you can't win them all
