JEVANS08
During the Spurs game we were dominant in the first half with Osman coming close on 4 occasions and Mirallas having a number of good opportunities. However, in the second half instead of pushing on and continuing in the way we played in the first we sat back and didn't open Spurs up once. Then Spurs grabbed their goal and 8 minutes later Roberto made a double substitution, Deulofeu for Osman (understandable) but then instead of throwing on the man mountain of Lacina Troare who can quite easily bully defences into mistakes Roberto throws on McGeady even though we already had 2 wingers on the pitch in Mirallas and Deulofeu. Also we all saw Mirallas's poor first half performance against strong centre halfs against Villa so why did Roberto make these substitutions knowing they would not make an impact? Guest blueboy122
Naismith was having a good game and can always knick a goal so I definitely wouldn't have taken him off even though he was tiring. It just didn't fall for us today. Matt
Blue 250
Troare looked a good shout, we didn't seem to have the better of Spurs in the air and he would have surely caused thm problems, I certainly thought we'd see him after going a goal behind. We were passing around Spurs on the ground, but pretty football doesn't win football matches, goals do.
Romey 1878
This is what happens when you bring in an injured striker; you can't use him when you need him . Edited February 10, 2014 by Romey 1878 barryj
Newty82
Possibly. The 3 to go off were bang on. They had faded out of the game. I thought we would see Traore too, especially chasing the game at the end. But he maybe just isnt ready and/or RM thought the 3 who did come on were the best options. Its quite impressive being able to bring them guys on, but all 3 looked a bit short of match sharpness. So collectively we can analyse it and call out the ref, RM, whatever whoever....but in reality it should have been game over by half time. Cornish Steve
...all 3 looked a bit short of match sharpness. That is the key point. We've had a number of injuries, and players can't just show up and play as if nothing had happened. It takes time for them to become effective again. weebittight
Spurs were bound to be better in the second half - as was the case. We did not trouble the onion bag when we were massively on top - and we switched off for their goal. Not sure Goliath was there yesterday for anything other than squad experience to be fair. One of those dribbling subs could easily have won us a crucial free kick around their box - whether Clatterburg would have given it is another story entirely. Preening cock seemed to be busting to see Spurs home. Edited February 10, 2014 by weebittight
bluenosetoffee
It wasn't really a mistake. It just wasn't our day that's all. Traore isn't 100% fit so what would be the point of playing him and risking him getting injured. Last week he put Barkley off for Pienaar at half time and then put Stones who was a RB off for Naismith. Them two substitutions made the difference. We were unlucky against Spurs. It should have been a draw. Everton had 3 shots on target whereas Spurs only had two. Unlucky but lets bounce back with a win against Palace. I was quite content with Naismith up top and with him I always feel he can pop up and score a goal at any minute

Popular Post Newty82
Because naismith was knackered. He was blowing out of his arse. Mirallas wasnt. At the end of the day, RM could have brought traore on...and if it didnt work, the same peeps would be saying 'why did he bring him on and not McGeady/Barkley/Gerry?' I think if we had taken our chances in the first half, we would have seen Traore. But as we were chasing the game, RM threw on those who had already had game time for us this season. It didnt work...it did vs villa...but no one can say we didnt go for it! Bailey, Toffee_in_LA, Ant1979 and 2 others
Sideliner
Naismith was mocked off the pitch by the local fans after being beaten by the sideline twice and Osman was wasted - after 15 minutes they should not have started and should have been subbed first - when Pienaar went our last bit of creativity vanished from the midfield both of them are mostly only good enough to nearly score a goal - not nearly good enough for taking on any of the top 6 as our strike force - Martinez needs to try another combination as striker and CM - those 2 simply wont make the grade in the PL
