hows that possible?

liverpool get gonzales, west ham get benayoun which both chile and israel are out of the top 50 rankings while we struggle to get a brazilian which whom are ranked number 1?

because these players are capped for their respective countries

so if a non-eu player is uncapped and his nation are in the top 50, it will be harder for him to get a permit.

so how did liverpool and west ham manage to get players like benayoun and gonzales which both arent eu players?

because thats liverpool and we're Everton! dont see the fuss to be honest, like i said in the other thread, dont really think we need to mess about with the midfield to be honest, he can only play in the centre of the park cant he?suppose he'd do for cover like but in my opinion the positions we need to be focusing on are the full backs

gonzales couldn't that was the problem, they had to loan him out in spain like we did before he was able to get it

and benayoun has played for 3 seasons for racing

because representing your country holds a higher priority when applyin for a work permit as a professional sports person.

Gonzales - capped by his country (work permit granted)

Benayoun - capped by his country (work permit granted)

Da Silva - uncapped by his county (no work permit granted)

please tell me you understand now???

Full Name: Anderson da Silva França

Dob: 28-8-1982

Place: Sao Paulo

Position: Midfield

He never officially signed for the club. Moyes felt he was a good enough prospect and purchased his registration license.

This meant that if Da Silva started to show more promise then we had first choice whether we wanted to sign him. Only problem being his work permit, so he was loaned out to Malaga in Spain to obtain dual nationality (he will become an EU citizen after x amount of time in Europe).

When he obtains a work permit he will join up with the squad. This is similar to the transfers that go on in italy where clubs can share players (co-ownership). He has already trained with the squad in pre-season but more work permit problems meant to had to return to Club Nacional de Football, Montevido, Uruguay.

So far it looks like he will never play for the club.

Just seen this on the bbc sport site.

link doesn't appear to work so hear ya go.

Brazilian midfielder Anderson da Silva will finally be able to start his Everton career in the next few weeks, according to chairman Bill Kenwright.

Everton spent £700,000 in 2005 to sign Da Silva from Uruguayan side National Montevideo but could not play him as he does not have a EU passport.

Da Silva has been loaned out to Spanish side Malaga but his passport problems have now been solved.

Kenwright said: "There is a possibility he could join in the next few weeks."

The arrival of Da Silva would be a boost for Everton boss David Moyes, who is keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Kenwright explained: "Anderson da Silva came over here to spend some time with us and impressed David.

"We bought his federative and economic rights but could not secure his player registration because he did not have the correct passport.

"He was supposed to have a passport by the January window and then by May.

"By June we were getting fed up, not by the player but by the people around him promising the passport would be ready.

"We believe he eventually got a passport as he has been able to play in Spain this season and we are talking to his agent at the moment."
