  1. https://www.goodisonnews.com/2022/07/26/everton-on-verge-of-loan-to-buy-deal-for-ruben-vinagre-will-pay-100-of-salary/ Considering we have no LB/wingback cover then this seems sensible. Doesn't get the pulses racing, but seems cheap enough in this day and age.
  2. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dele-alli-makes-everton-fight-24585193 Well if he actually backs this up with hard work and fight on the pitch, I am sure the rest will slot in to place for the lad. The goals against Blackpool have now got his goal scoring duck of his back (even if only in a friendly) and hopefully he can enjoy his football this season if he goes in to it with the right attitude and mentality from day one. An 'on form' Alli would be absolutely massive for us. In the past you could build a team around a player like this. Being positive, he has now had 6months to bed in to Everton and settle in the area. I am hoping he is seeing this pre-season as a new slate for himself to get his career back on track. To me, you now give him a proper run in the team and play him in his best position and play to his strengths.
  3. I am with you on that. They get massively over hyped and scrutinied these days. Not helped buy these overseas marketing tours, but it a necessity these days to get the brand out there. It's a chance to assess what you have to work with, try different things, and get fitness back. You can learn just as much from the bad results, mistakes and performances as you can from any good ones. Now is the time to do that. A perceived bad result against Minnisota means Frank has a bit more leverage in needing players to come in.
  4. yeah, this 'obligation to buy' just seems to be a bit of a norm to 'buy now' and 'pay later'. All on the hope that we get better results and move up the table prize money wise, and are able to make a decent profit on some players in the future. Our problem being we have actually fallen down the table and seem to lose money hand over fist on the majority of players. Sounds like we did something very similar with Alli - I don't think Alli was the smartest buy - Is he simply going to be somebody we are stuck with now? will live in hope he might turn things around. Frank is persisting with him pre-season and his last game has been the most promising. Can he now build on this? I actually think we are a couple of decent signings and a improved Alli away from being a team we could really build from. Need a decent hard working 10 goal 'Richy' replacement (see Cornet as an affordable option here) and two 'dependable' solid midfielders. Give me one of 'Winks' or 'Gilmour' and a enforcer type in this window. Get these in and look to be moving Gomes and Gbamin on in this transfer window (if at all possible) and promote one or two from the academy.
  5. As the transfer window goes on I think we will see: Cornet - perm - £17.5M - as a Richy replacement. This has to happen if Fulham and Forest are the others interested, hard working, showed well in the Prem last year, and a pretty fair price in all honesty if the release clause is correct. Gilmour and/or Winks- loan with obligation to buy (maybe at the end of the window) - Delph replacement Outside chance of Broja on a permanent. Maybe allowing DCL to potentially be sold in Jan/next summer. Gilmour and Broja complicate things a little as can't have a loan type of deal for both with them both come from Chelsea at the same time. Think there may be some combination of 3 of these 4. Would like to see MGW, but don't see this now happening and we may have to just keep fingers crossed that Alli does improve this season with us. I think we could still do with a ball winning type No.6 as alternative to Winks/Gilmour in games when we more have are arses against the wall. Some big decisions needed from Thelwall and Lampard, as they pretty much have no room for errors on who they spend any money on.
  6. https://www.rangersnews.uk/transfer-news/former-rangers-stars-agent-blasts-the-suns-totally-made-up-everton-exit-claims/ surprise! surprise! said it last week, the amount of rubbish that comes out regarding transfers these day is ludicrous. Got to the point now stuff being printed is not much better than one of us piping up and '..saying we should look at player X..'. Seems to be more transfer 'opinions' rather a 'rumors' with nothing what so ever behind it. Its just 'headlines' to make us all open article and web pages. No doubt somebody somewhere gets a fraction of a penny for another our pointless 'visit'.
  7. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ashley-cole-duncan-ferguson-everton-24577506 Interesting interview with Clement. I particular like last part. I think if you are a middle of the road club as we basically are - then your play really does need to be adaptable. To me it doesn't sound like Lampard will be stubborn and put all his eggs in one basket of a playing style or philosophy. He will want to dominate the ball against teams he feel we can and should be trying to dominate, but pragmatic enough to change approach against teams who will just end up battering us. He definitely changed playing style quick enough last season and not persist bashing a square peg in to a round hole, which was really encouraging to see. It's a very difficult job Lampard has come to, but I do hope he is given a fair crack at the whip - not going to be easy to turn our fortunes around given the tool currently at his disposal.
  8. I agree, we not going to make an omelette with out breaking a few eggs, so we have got to expect that mistakes will happen, same with Mykolenko, on the otherside. Signs are promising from the pair of them. I am not sure I believe we are looking to loan him out, it's not like we are over run with RBs.
  9. I fully agree FFP is totally wrong, it's basically changing the 'rules'. Clubs like ours have a near impossible task get in to the so called top 6. Year on year its becoming an ever more closed shop. Difficult not to get disheartend by it all.
  10. I don't bother watching preseason games, so definately not going to paw over them. Lampard will be letting the owners know he NEEDS his own signings. Maintained last season one of our biggest problems was lack of consistent CB pairing, so not going to start panicking after 45min of the very latest pairing. Will wait myself for the start the annual despair once the transfer window's have closed and we have played at least half a dozen competitive games.
  11. read it in an article, and to me seem to be around a reasonable for an in demand Gallagher. What value do you have him at? I don't know if we have £50m or not, however I am guessing we have something to spend if there is talk of +£25M players. We have sold a valuable asset and being in the PL is actually fairly lucrative every season with TV money etc - so each season coffers are actually replenished quite significantly. I would make an educated guess that at a push we could muster £30-50M depending on how deals are structured, and the wages of the players coming in. I doubt it would be more that £50M. What I am trying to say is IF we buy Gallagher for his going rate, and we can scrap the finances together then it is likely to take every penny we have in the transfer kitty.
  12. Oh, come on - two or three weeks ago we are all taking about have some pacience, but then start doing our nuts over a couple of pre-season friendlies on the other side of the world is the exact opposite. Are you really expect the tide to have turned in 3weeks of pre season? Pre season friendlies are far to over hyped these days, especially overseas tours. They are little more than training session. Also slightly disrespectful of Minnesota and MSL to assume they are so shit and unorganised that PL teams three weeks in to pre-season should be rocking up and beating them at home.
  13. emm, is that really Lamaprd scratching about in a panic, or simply pundits, journalists and agents trying to get people to look at their latest blog or posts? Seems to me there are more and more rumors these days will less and less substance to them. I would take being 'linked' with players with a pinch of salt now more than ever.
  14. if Chelsea are willing to sell and Gallagher wants to come - He is going to be around £50M and fairly decent wages. Might be pretty much our whole transfer budget and then some. Is it advisable to put all our eggs in one basket? would love to have him here, but think out on necessity we need to spread recruitment a little thinner around two or three players.
  15. That is one thing to take from this mornings result - Lampard has more ammunition to put to the board than players need to desperately come in to this squad, and quick.
  16. Can't look in much in to a glorified training game. Minnesota at mid season so in full swing - we are three weeks in to pre-season. To me the result gives Lampard a little more ammunition to push for the new signings to be done ASAP and brought in to the squad. Plenty of work to be done - but think we all knew this anyway.
  17. I really hope not. Will be another wasted wage packet. Still living off a few good games when he first played for united. Rather see an academy player of our own a chance.
  18. Now a loan to Burnley as part of Cornet deal would make good sense for pretty much everybody. We get a player who will want to come to the Premiership and Burnley get a promising attacking youngster keen to show his worth at the top end of the Championship. We also have Broadbent and Simms as young offensive players needing to be either getting in to our first team squad or being loaned out to team fighting at the business end of the Championship or similar level.
  19. He will not be cheap and I am not sure how much has been hyped about him being simply from the Chelsea academy. If he was simply a Norwich player would teams be clamouring to be paying good money for him this summer? I have not seen enough of him to be honest, to comment on his technical brilliance or not, but not sure Norwich fans where seeing much of it week in week out in the Premiership last season. It sounds like a fair few booed him, which seems harsh on such a young lad. Money is tight so little room for mistakes or paying over the odds for players.
  20. Don't agree with that at all. Everything else being equal, I would take a taller player over a smaller player every day of the week. There are always exceptions to every rule that can be sighted, but if I have limited funds and want to bring in a number six - a taller , well built physically (or at least average height and build) dominant players who can win the headers and can out muscle the opposition would be high on my list of attributes. To go for a below average build player means he would really need to have outstanding attributes in other departments to more than make up for that. Gilmour is not in that category for me.
  21. I think there is a good chance Gilmour might arrive - but my fear with Gilmour is that he is just to small to ever be a dominant midfielder or offer enough protection at the back if we want marauding backs. Game seems to get more and more athletic each season, with players being ever more bigger and stronger. As good as he may be technically, is a 5'7" player going to be enough to drive us towards the business end of the premier league over the next 3-4 years. If the team and playing style is to revolve around a quality number 6, not sure Gilmour will have all the right tools for the upper half of the premier league.
  22. Everton being a bit skint and also having Lampard as manager means it should be a good time this next 24months* for quality senior academy players to get an a proper chance with the first team. Especially if you are a midfielder - knuckle down and I think the opportunities could be available. *if Moshiri actually has the patience to see a 'regime change' through.
  23. I think this is going to be a great move for the lad, and also us in the long run. I imagine PSV play a lot of possession based football with the CB's having to play the ball a lot more. Hoping that PSV get a good run in Europe and he gets a chance against some quality opposition in big games as well. It must be great for the lads confidence that Brands has made the effort to bring him across channel to PSV.
  24. my feeling is that we are trying to simply make less go further and trying not to get caught with our pants down in expensive tranfers. I don't blame the club in maybe being a little over cautious in the transfer market after years of being gung ho. At £18M this lad looks a decent buy - and it the sounds of it he has a buy out clause, I think we are just trying to be a bit cute in how we structure the deal, no harm in testing the water before just simply handing over £18M in one go. I got a strong feeling he will be with us in the next week or so. For those who like a stat - some numbers against a +£30m alternative in the article below. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/maxwel-cornet-everton-armando-broja-24517646
  25. https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2022/feature-european-player-of-the-season-7th-benjamin-bourigeaud/ He is definitely of high quality. I am liking the fact we are looking at a number of options - MGW to expensive, we look elsewhere. Better then spending the whole transfer window chasing after one player, either to miss in the end or simply end up paying top dollar at the end of the transfer window.
