  1. Gone for Patterson, as he deserves a percentage of the votes on this game. A great derby debut and is really finding his feet, he will just grow as this team develop. Pickford didn't put a foot wrong and pulled of some cracking saves. Showed why he will be England's No.1 in the world cup.
  2. We have to have squad players and think Davies can be just that for us. I think having these more mobile player in the team with him will actually help him play to his strengths when he does have to come in to plug a gap. 5 subs these days does mean squad player can actually get a bit more game time than they have done in the past.
  3. I thought Lampard was going to have a bit of a dilemma once club captain Coleman was fit and Patterson took his time to adapt the Premier league. Patterson excelled yesterday and is getting better game on game. RB suits him better that wing back.
  4. Today's performance was great and perfect timing as the first performance after Lampard/Thelwall transfer window was shut - to me it lays down a marker to the whole squad about the attitude and work rate that is expected game in and game out. They should take great confidence from today. What looks like a good transfer window and competitive Derby is a good way to start what should be considered a clean sheet for Lampard and his team.
  5. If we get a decent solid performance and not teared to shreds I will be happy. They are he finished article and on of the top 3-4 teams in the world, and we are very much at the very beginning of a work in progress, with bargain players rather than worldies. But I would so love to get a shock result today.
  6. I think we can say the vast majority of us are impressed by the way Thelwell has gone about our business in this window. I think we have brought in a good mix of experience and youthful talent, but all with hunger, leadership qualities and good character. I know we would all have liked a striker or signings to happen sooner. However, I think we have ended up with very good signings, and at very good prices. Sounds like we saved £6m on the Gana deal but standing our ground, and would not pay over the odds for Diaz at the 11th hour. We are not the push over club we had developed a reputation of being. A lot of welcome changes being witnessed in this first window.
  7. Odds are massively against us, as much as it pains me to say, this is one of the best Liverpool teams ever assembled and argubly one of the best three or four teams in world football. I think it's maybe come half a dozen games to soon for us, as we are very much finding our feet as a team to be truly organised as you would need to be against a team like this. Pretty sure it will be another new face on the pitch with Maupay starting, possibly two if Gana starts. However, it's a Derby, and you just never know and it would definately kick start the season.
  8. Everything you read about him makes you wonder why United let him go. Seems highly thought off by a lot of people and a lot are suprises he has been allowed to leave and that we have had him for a very good price. He could quite easy become this season 'Gallagher'.
  9. Line up in first game after last seasons transfer window. Pickford Godfrey Mina Keane Coleman Allan Doucoure Digne Townsend Richarlison Grey Manager - Rafa A potential line up 12 months later Pickford Patterson, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko Onana, Gana, Garner (or a reborn Iwobi) Mc Neil, Maupay, Gordon Manager - Lampard Quite a difference. The age profile and mobility of this squad has flipped.
  10. We now have Maupay and with a bit of luck in 2 or 3 games time we will have DCL back . Although, the transfer window is now closed, it opens again in 13 games time. Given the amount of problems we have had throughout the squad, I think great strives have been make in Lampard and Thelwalls first crack at it together. I think they have achieved a lot on a fairly limited resources. Gana for £2m and Garner for an initial £9m, being particularly good value moves.
  11. I hope he has a cracking season with them. Comes across as a really decent bloke, but just don't quite think he suits the Premier league.
  12. https://totalfootballanalysis.com/player-analysis/james-garner-2021-22-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics A great read. Think him and Onana could really feed off each other as two intelligent, talented and hardworking young midfielders.
  13. Not the worst thing to keep loan options open in January if can't get the players we want in the next hour. I am not expecting anything more this window.
  14. Looking forward to commentators say (or singing) Everton's midfield today is made up of 'Onana Garner Gueye'
  15. Its a plan I can get behind. Hopefully the the days of anybody in the starting 11 not showing anything less 100% on that pitch should now become a thing of the past. You stroll around or don't put in a proper shift in will mean you will well and truly get hooked off the pitch. It's also now looks like a squad with far less over paid and over hyped players in it.
  16. great that he is finally here - but shame it has taken so, so long. We seemed to know he was coming weeks ago.
  17. sounds like it is just a loan to the end of the season. will be much better him playing football and hopefully doing well in a slower French league - as more likely to be able to sell him this time next year.
  18. I noticed he had a face like thunder. Gerrard was quite lucky Arsenal didn't put the ball in the back of the net a whole lot more in that first half. He has had a decent squad of players to work with since he has been at Villa, which he added to in January and early in this transfer window. It's easy to argue he has done very little with it all since his appointment, and squad does not sound as harmonious as it could be. Scott Parker currently out of a job - I wonder what odds you get on him being Villa manager before the years out?
  19. Finger crossed on Broja - that could would be the icing on the cake for deadline day.
  20. we do have a low risk domestic loan in our pocket. It would be a shame not to use it and have more 'options' on the flanks. Not a massive James fan, I but would rather have him on loan and on the bench over having nobody else. But that would go for a lot of players. I am guessing Chelsea are not letting Broja go out on loan.
  21. I think with 5 subs now it will allow both Gana, Garner, Onana, Iwobi and even Doucoure to get plenty of game time in a midfield three. Gana is not going to have to play 90mins every game and neither are our 21 year olds. This looks so so much better and significantly more mobile than Allan, Doucoure, Gomes, Delph and Davies that we started last season with. It will not all gel overnight (just like with Arteta's Arsenals rebuild), especially considering two of those we are taking about have not even been confirmed as signed yet - but in 6months and then again in 12 months time I would hope to be seeing a ever increasing level of general team play at the club. No point in jumping up and down in only a months- 6weeks time if we are not yet performing like a well oiled machine, but I am sure we will develop game on game and grow in both ability and confidence as a team.
  22. The club seemed to have upped their game when it comes to recruitment and negotiation skills. I know they are not the same type of player, but when you look at the price of MWG who is a young player who had a great season shining on loan in the Championship, it does put in perspective both the fee up front and potential add ons. Our midfield appear to have been totally transformed this transfer window. Taken a bit of time, but I am very happy with the make up and profile of the player that are been brought in.
  23. If Gordon went to Cheslea he would end up spending just as much time warming a bench as Richarlison does at Spurs. If Gordon carries on as he has done this past couple of games - he could potentially sneak his way on to a plane to Qatar in November. Richarlison on the other hand may be looking over his shoulder at the likes of Raphinha or others in case they nick his place. He should be OK as its fairly close in November - if it was next summer then just getting a token 15min here and there might push him down the peaking order.
  24. well if that right, then I think this would be a cracking bit of business. it sounded like a fair few club where have been interested in him. He could quite easily be this seasons 'Conor Gallagher'. He has a fair bit of Championship experience for a 21 year old (around 80 games), and his play last season seemed to go up a level.
  25. Apparently there will be a buy back clause in the contract for Utd. I thought £15m was a very good deal, so not surprised there is a catch. A lot of pundits are surprised Utd are even allowing a sale. I will worry about a buy back when he starts bossing the midfield for us!!
