  1. It did sound last night in one of Lampard's interviews that another striker might not be of the highest priority. He was keen to reiterate that Dom will soon be back. Gana and Garner do sound like they are now very high probability. I would like another offensive player - but in the same breath I don't want to see any last minute panic buy over priced crap come here either. I think Borja loan would be ideal, but guess that would depend on who Chelsea manage to bring in.
  2. Our problems have not stemmed from any purchases from Benitez time at the club - As much as I didn't really want him at the club, the players that came in while he was in charge (whether or not they where his choices is another thing) have turned out to be pretty good value for money. A massive positive with Patterson is that it wouldn't surprise you if he was a Thelwell/Lampard purchase as he does fit right in to the mould of the character and profile of the players they are looking to build around. I know points on the board or team performance wise we might not be exactly be where we would want to be at this very minute (we could even be bottom of the league after then next two rounds of games). But I think like most of us, I can see the jigsaw pieces starting to come together - a solid foundation of an experienced trio of Tarkowsi, Coady and hopefully Gana making us tough to beat and with a young, hunger and high energy team around and in front of them. It could be an exciting group to see develop together and build on over the next couple of seasons.
  3. I would be very happy with this - A player who was given much plaudits for dragging Forest up the table and to ultimate promotion last season - and at just 21 years old £15M in todays market seems a good deal. Got my fingers crossed on getting this local lad in the squad.
  4. Not sure he has much trust in Gomes or Allan in all honesty. Went for Patterson. Has taken his change ahead of an injured Coleman. Should only get better now he is in the team. I know some are not happy with McNeil, but Lampard is giving him and Patterson time on the pitch together and think there partnership is something that will develop.
  5. Nicking away points is just something we couldn't do last year. Away games in the Premier league are generally tough, unless you have a top 6 squad. This is particularly the case at the beginning of the season. In my books it is a point won and two dropped by Leeds, and similar to what we managed at Brentford. It's then about winning the lions share of your home games against those teams around you as the season progress.
  6. progress will be hanging on to 3 points how. No silly mistakes and try and grab something on the counter.
  7. I think McNeil will be fine once he is in and around a settled team and with a target man on the pitch.
  8. must be the case - All very frustrating, as getting the deal done 8 hours soon would he could have been be registered and been available for 2 more games. which is not insignificant when you have not real striker and struggling to get points.
  9. back 4 and no Maupay, even on the bench - surprised by that.
  10. Thought it was a bit quite today, a fucking another day to wait!
  11. I seem to be nervous about all games these day. It scary when you look at a fixture list and just can't see any 'easy' games anymore. I am really hoping having a half decent striker on the pitch will help us today - as our xG in games so far has actually been pretty good compared to that of the opposition. Difficulty is Maupay only been around matter of days and is going it to a team that is still fairly unfamiliar with each other. It's going to be difficult for them to all be singing from the same hymn sheet for a fair while yet, as I expect a fair more new faces to arrive tomorrow. I do think its going to be New Year before we see this team proper going out on to the pitch, so I will just be glad of nicking any points we can and seeing a general style of play develop this side of the World Cup break. At the I would take simply not being in the bottom 3 come the end of November. Nicking a point or three in this game would be very very welcome, but Elland Road a tough venue to get anything.
  12. I agree, I think he has suffered a fair bit not having a striker in the starting 11 to try and pick out. Hoping we will see a much better showing from once the team has settled a bit, perhaps some introductions in to game from the bench. We need to remember we putting out new player on to the pitch game after game at the moment, and I am guess we are going to be doing this for the next few week - it wouldn't to surprise me to see another three or four new faces by Thursday. I am really not expecting a great deal from this team until the new year in all honesty - This is as close as you are going to get to a near total squad rebuild this summer. It is going to take a fair bit of time for understandings to develop over the pitch. The season starting a couple of weeks early is also going to effect teams who have big rebuilds going on much more that others who are maybe settled and tinkering with a couple of additions.
  13. The first dozen or so games are going to be a real learning curve for this relatively new squad, Patterson is only 4 games into premiership career. We are just going to have to accept that there are going to be teething problem. In an ideal world, you slowly introduce somebody so young, but Lampard has little option but to put him in and let him learn on the job.
  14. We are three games unbeaten now. Been a while!!!
  15. https://www.wearebrighton.com/newsopinion/iridescent-maupay-can-be-about-more-than-goals-for-brighton-in-2022-23/ Interesting read
  16. I think he will be a very good signing for us. A bit of attitude and character about him and not coming here as a gamble as some sort of fading star or via a club looking to offload their unwanted baggage. I like our recruitment so far this summer, there seems to be much more focus and thought on the characters and attitude of the players we are bringing in.
  17. Newcastle can kind of do what they want - no FFP to worry about for at least two or three years, and have the richest owners in world football - we have to watch every penny we spend at the moment.
  18. Spot on, we need to walk before we can run. This is the type of signing that should help us get to being a solid mid table team (footballing wise and financially wise) we need to be doing this before we have grand designs on mixing it with those in the top half of the table. I think it's a sensible signing this summer. Has plenty of premiership experience, does score goals and is solid and a grafter out of position. isn't breaking the bank.
  19. He significantly adds to our squad. Not a silly fee and not silly wages.
  20. I am pretty sure Lampard had nothing to do with Alli's transfer in to the club. He would have played him much more I feel, I don't feel at any stage since he has been here has Lampard had any confidence in putting him on the pitch. I think we where all surprised when Gordon started up front on the first day of the season. There is no way you would sign a player and not give him a fair crack at the whip, you would give him half a dozen starts to try and play himself it to some form - he must have been showing bugger all on the training ground. If we sell for £6M -£8M it will have covered his wages since he has been here - So will be nothing lost. So finger crossed he does enough in Turkey to get a move and we move on with our new wave of players.

  22. Definately, £60m doesn't go that far these days. Two fuck ups and its gone.
  23. That is the real worry. Need attacking players in this window that will go in to starting the starting 11, I don't mind if its loans and we go again in January or even next summer.
  24. Should add an extra £10m per week. £60m now this week, £70m next week.
