Loved them throwing out that we've made enquiries for two players like that's supposed to make people forget the real issues.

I was interested to hear about this brilliant site LCC have found for us close to Goodison that Kenwright says will be better than a groundshare with the shite. But, alas, it was followed up with that it'll depending on the funding model - i.e. if we can't get someone to pay for it for us then it ain't happening.

Not the case Av, the administration of our club is rightly under the microscope, when they consistently come out with the same shite years after they should have had it addressed, you know we are going no where.

Every answer was a defence to a question they didn't want to hear, if they had come about and said "these are our issues, this is what we are doing about it" then great. But no, they expect the fans yet again to swallow the same old shite, commercially we have a bunch of half wits running the show.

Iamryanstover got a reaction from Kohen in Looking at players from the US
I agree with your assessment Steve, but both keepers mentioned are not going to make a transfer unless they can compete for the #1 jersey, and as Mucha learned that it doesn't take long to go from a solid, respected keeper to forgotten if you cannot get 1st team football.(Im guessing that Romanian giant City is learning this.)

It is hard for English clubs to get work permits for Americans unless they have represented the country. Among this group is Gatt( who would be a solid young player for us. WORLD class speed) plays in Norway. Shea is at Stoke, Corona in Mexico who is not good enough, Mix in Norway also not good enough, etc. The Americans I would have most are Altidore who is prob to expensive, and the German/Americans Chandler, Boyd, and John Anthony Brooks, but Boyd has only done it one year and not in a top league, A. Bundesliga, and Chandler would only have a 1st team place if we sold a FB. Brooks would be the most intriguing of the Germans. He is only 20 played 30 matches for Hertha Berlin, and is a 6'3 CB. Agudelo has not scored a lot in MLS, but he is still only 20, and I think the goals will come. At his peak he could be a 10-15 goal scorer who will also create chances for others.

There are a couple other really good MLS youngsters, but none have represented the US yet.
Jack McInerney ST 20 Philadelphia( Already one of the top MLS strikers)
Jack Mcbean ST 18 LA also has a Scottish passport
    Jose Villareal MF 19 LA
Louis Gil MF 19 Salt Lake
    DeAndre Yedlin FB 19 Seattle

Iamryanstover got a reaction from Romey 1878 in Is Martinez going to breakup the back four?
This would be the smartest move he could make. Do maintenance on you products to keep it in top form, but do not try to fix what is not broken.

I just think the asking price for McCarthy is going to be way out of our budget.

Klinsmann said literally like a month ago that Timmy is the undisputed #1 and the backbone of the defense. He'd have to really screw up for Klinsmann to consider anyone else.

Never more have I been shocked at some evertonians lack of football knowledge and applying sound judgement than in the new manager scenario.

I have seen pereira become a manager than 99% of fans no fuck all about become the "gotta get him, he's the best man for the job" just because he was successful in an uncompetitive league at a well resourced club.

I have seen Martinez judges as a manager based purely on his league finishes, without any consideration to the huge challenge he faced.

    Such as:-

Complete inability type retain any talent due to wage cap of £25k a week.

Having to source players who will play in front of 18,000 fans in a non footballing town.

Having to reduce the wage bill by 22% in a footballing economy that was increasing player wages.

All whilst improving the footballing culture of the club, gaining admiration for the style and culture....

It's all about opinions, and it's fair enough, but what pisses me right off are people who will argue the toss despite knowing sod all or recognising valid points that counter their stance.

Yeah i think he will get more game time regardless of whether Rooney leaves personally.

I think the ruling on contracts is that
You can agree a "pre contract" with another club 6 months before your contract ends.

Him and Jags are gonna have quite the conversation -

"That was a phenomenal effort today, Phil."
    "Yeah, definitely, gaffer."

I wouldnt mind having either player at a decent price, but this is that typical shit you read whenever a team with decent players gets relegated. Really it all comes down to what type of wages a given player is on, and Mcmanamen is going to demand a large transfer fee because he is a homegrown English player

Blueboy122 - I'm far too old to hold grudges with guys on here, and will have forgotten about your comments by the time I've finished my afternoon cup of tea, so why not consider cooling down a little, and let what happens happen, before the stresses of the occasion spoil the enjoyment of the forum for everybody? Everybody is concerned about the same thing, and everybody wants the best for the club.

Common themes that I am seeing on some forums (along with our own) - not criticisms but observations...

Martinez being judged on where he finished in league with no understanding of how he was impacted by resource, injuries comparable to other managers.
No understanding of how other managers (Hughes, O'Neill etc) have operated in their previous clubs. Just a wikipedia link here and there showing league table finishes (no mention of transfer expenditure, player disputes)
Pereira (a man 99% of Evertonians knew almost noithing about last year) being heavily favoured because he won the league back to back. Why wasn't he offered a contract before if he was so great? He may well be, but can we be so sure? Juande Ramos wasn't exactly the superstar Spurs thought he was going to be... His assistant back then (Gus Poyet has also been favoured)_
My like for Martinez is based on a few things:-

He is the least risky appointment He has the potential to take us forward. Anyone who seen how Wigan played us off the park on Boxing Day but in reality lost because the lesser quality of their defenders was the difference. He gets his teams to control the game, no punting, scared to have the ball, he gets them playing. He will not roll overand tell his team to sit back. Every argument against Martinez can almost be countered with "would Sir Alex Ferguson have done a better job with those resouces?"

Could Martinez polish off 4, 1 litre bottles of Single Malt? Given the resources, SAF would.

    There's an argument.

I get angered when I see Kit Kats getting all the exposure in vending machines - why they get all the coverage and we are left with the last 10 cm of the aisle??? I often think back to the glorious 80's when Hob Nobs were at their peak, one nible and your nobbled.

My tears of relief when we avoided being relegated to a Netto's own brand in the 90's. I just wish they were marketed correctly, I mean these johnny come lately's like Trackers taking up the limelight - what history do they have??? where were they when it was us Rich Tea, Digestive, Nice, and Bourbon Creams looking to create a biscuit super league???

But we will always have our wrapper to remind us of who we are and what wer achieved eh?

unless Bill conducts his interviews with questions like "Whats your favourite colour?" "What do you prefer cats oir dogs?"

Then Martinez will be the outstanding candidate:- questions such as "can you demonstrate where you have operated on a tight budget", "can you develop players", "do you have an expansive knowledge of the transfer market", "what brand of football do you play"

Leaves only one winner to me. Pereira is a gamble as he has no prmier league experience, could be another Juande Ramos.
