  1. Tha last lost son emerges from the TT triangle . Mac and Pat have explained themselves and the final great mystery is closed.....I can sleep comfortably in my bed at night again, and take the PI off the case . Good to hear from you mate!
  2. Torro Rosso press release this morning (the timing of it is significant). "In the interests of maximising car reliability in high temperatures and humidity usually encountered in Malaysia, the Kers system will not actually use the recovered energy to boost engine power in the usual fashion." "Instead the teams plan to use Kers as a sophisticated DCA (Driver Cooling Aid)." "Energy recovered under braking is used to drive a refrigeration unit to chill down the cool store." "This is connected into a special driver suit, so when the driver presses the Kers button cold liquid is circulated around his suit reducing his body temperature." "Studies have shown that an increase in core body temperature of just one degree can reduce driver performance by as much as 23%."
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/7975700.stm Huge gamble in my opinion, hope it fails dismally .
  4. Love looking at playlists of gigs I went to, one of the great wonders of the 'net for me....there's no way you can remember what was played exactly so to be able to look it up is brilliant. This was one of the best ones ever (you'll like this Jamie ), if not the best... Neil Young. Wembley 1982. The Trans tour. On The Way Home / Don't Cry No Tears / Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere / Cortez The Killer / Computer Age / Are You Ready For The Country? / Southern Man / A Little Thing Called Love / Old Man / The Needle And The Damage Done / Comes A Time / Birds / Transformer Man / Beggars Day / Like An Inca / Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) / Cinnamon Girl / Like A Hurricane / I Am A Child / Sample And Hold / Mr. Soul
  5. Agreed. I saw him in 1990...this was the playlist.... Figure Of Eight, Jet, Rough Ride, Got To Get You Into My Life, Band On The Run, Ebony And Ivory, We Got Married, Maybe I'm Amazed, The Long And Winding Road, The Fool On The Hill, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Good Day Sunshine, Can't Buy Me Love, Put It There, Things We Said Today, Eleanor Rigby, This One, My Brave Face, Back In The U.S.S.R., I Saw Her Standing There, Twenty Flight Rock, Coming Up, Let It Be, Ain't That A Shame, Live And Let Die, Hey Jude, Yesterday, Get Back, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End ....magnificent experience!
  6. Clip's not there Jamie .
  7. Hehe....goalkeeper sorted...look at those hands. And completely comfortable settled on the Tim Howard shirt . She's called Milly.
  8. Was sick in my mate's tent one year....in the middle of the night....didn't realise 'til the morning. Nasty. Not popular . Like the fact that it cost £8.95 for a three day ticket!
  9. Just reading that list has given me a headache . The last festivals I went to were in the seventies, the legendary "wettest ever" Reading in '77 (Aerosmith, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Doobie Brothers, Golden Earring, Graham Parker, Hawkwind, Thin Lizzy, Ultravox!, Uriah Heep, Widowmaker etc) and... Happy days !
  10. A stunning result, Arsenal hadn't lost in the league for god knows how many years, so to spank them at their place is a great achievment.
  11. "Hamilton received a further boost following the race when he was elevated to third after Trulli was handed a 25-second penalty by the stewards for passing Hamilton under yellow flags following the crash involving Vettel and Kubica."
  12. Hamilton promoted to third . I don't think the cars look too bad.....in a few races time no-one will remember what they used to look like I don't think, but I take the "toy car" point (the Brawn in particular, maybe the relative lack of sponsorship).
  13. Job done, nicely done Jenson/Brawn !
  14. Downing, Beckham and Foster on at half-time. Cole and Crouch came on in the first half. Only one substitution left. Fuck .
  15. Interesting new thing this year, the weights of the cars after qualifying are being made public so you can get an idea of everyone's fuel load. Looks like Jenson's going to stop a lap before Barachello, but the Brawn's weren't fuelled light to get the front row. Looks like they're actually carrying more fuel than anyone else in the top eight. 1. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 664.5kg 2. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn GP, 666.5kg 3. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 657kg 4. Robert Kubica, BMW Sauber, 6505kg 5. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 657kg 6. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 654kg 7. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 655.5kg 8. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 662kg 9. Nick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber, 691.5kg 10. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 680.7kg
  16. Jenson on pole and Brawn ahead of the rest by a street. They said it would be a good car because Honda effectively sacrificed last year to concentrate on the new regs. Thank goodness they kept it alive, would have been such a waste if they hadn't. Richard Branson on board now....the obvious question is... Will they lose their virginity tomorrow ? Hope so.
  17. The electric blanket that I bought my wife for Christmas has just stopped working. I have no receipt or packaging (although if you check my Clubcard records you'll find the evidence). Can I have a replacement please ?
  18. No prob Jamie....all I'd need is a slighly larger spirit level and I'll be off !
  19. It'd be good to see a bit of a shake-up . Seems ridiculous to me that there's still an appeal on about these diffusers that Brawn, Williams and Toyota have got. They all obviously came up with their designs independently and were themselves convinced they were within the rules. They all passed scrutineering and the FIA have thrown out the protest. The others are just cross they didn't come up with something similar, but you can be damn sure all their factories are working round the clock to copy them.
  20. Reminds me of the genius Peter Cook & Dudley Moore sketch... I could have been a judge but I never had the Latin, never had the Latin for the judging. I just never had sufficient of it to get through the rigorous judging exams. They're noted for their rigour. People came staggering out saying 'My God, what a rigorous exam.' So I became a miner instead. A coal miner. I managed to get through the mining exams-they're not very rigorous. They only ask one question. They say 'Who are you?', and I got 75% for that. Being a miner, as soon as you are too old and tired and sick and stupid to do the job properly, you have to go. Well, the very opposite applies with the judges. So all in all I'd rather have been a judge than a miner.
  21. Did you hear the science GCSE question Bill? What would you use to look at the stars? a. telescope b. microscope c. x-ray tube d. synthesiser wtf!?
  22. Sounds like a '70's American cop show character...Officer Dirk Marcellis . ....or a porn star .
  23. If 2/1 bets were certainties we'd all be very rich and the bookies would all be bankrupt. Those odds make them narrow favourites, nothing more .
  24. Thanks Bill....it's south facing so I'm hopeful .
  25. It was indeed....they wanted £699 to put it up (that doesn't include the base preparation, you have to do that yourself) . Seems to be the going rate....said to the lad who helped me put it up that we ought to go into business; took us about ten hours but obviously once you get the hang it'd be a lot quicker. Six hours tops, £350 each for half a days work!? Could live happily on building two a week .
