Ant1979 reacted to NYBlue in everton vs city
I totally understand people's opinions on Europa. For me, if Martinez sees that as the next step in progressing Everton under his leadership then I'll be happy for us to play in the competition.
I'm normally well up for the City game and I want us to win but if we lose my reaction will just be 'meh' and to look forward to the Hull game. For those who live in the city and would have to contend with RS fans harping on about the title I completely understand where you are coming from.
I more want Liverpool to fall at the last hurdle simply because Gerrard will look back on his career and know he was that close to it but that his slip was the turning point. Whether it actually will be or not is neither here nor there, deep down he'll know it.

We could potentially make millions in additional revenue (about £10m to the winner I think it is) but the certainty is that if we finish 7th instead of 5th we'll lose £2m odd in prize money.

I do get what you're saying and I think that's why so many people are divided on the subject. I honestly think though that it will help more than it will hinder, but it's all just opinions I guess! I'm looking at it as though we'd be in it to win it not just making up the numbers. And it shows you're knocking on the door of the CL which I do think would help attract players. Anyway there's already been a thread for this, we'll never get everyone to agree haha, but diversity of opinion makes good debate

You want to lose at Hull too? Can't understand that at all, Europa League is part of a progression. We're not talking about a small-ish club like Swansea, I don't buy into this argument that league form would suffer too much

Hatem Ben Arfa fell out with Pardew. Not training with the first team. Cheeky £5m bid!

If this is true, we should stop paying his salary immediately. It's outrageous that someone can simply walk away from their work like this.

I may not be from Liverpool, never visited and have only been a Blue for 5 years now, but something that I am is a fan. I always want my team to win games. Sure every team has asshole fans that drive me insane with their taunts and having no knowledge of their respective team's history, but those are in the minority. I have a couple of red fans and besides the mild winding up that we all do while watching games, are graceful and we respect each other. I don't want Everton to win to do Liverpool a favor, I want them to win because it's the right thing to do and as much of a long shot as it is, we still aren't eliminated from 4th. Furthermore, there's still that outside shot of us losing our last two games and Man U/Spurs winning their remaining games and us ending up in 7th and out of Europe all together. Now that is something I don't want to happen. You've been pleasant to have from my point of view redarmy, cheers for that

Ant1979 reacted to Peter H in Stadium thread: Reprise edition
So if Everton find 30 mil they get a new stadium? Who do I call about making a donation? I like the sound of 'Peter H Stadium'

Hey - you're not being argumentative at all! You're making valid points.
My frustration comes from the fact that the city expects Everton to make the investment while still reaping all the benefits, which is outrageous. By not investing in a new stadium, the city loses out on all that new revenue - and just whines about having to cut budgets.

They say football's a game of two halves. I find its more like 6 pints.

Scotsman goes to the dentist and asks how much to have a tooth out. The dentist says £85. The Scotsman asks how much would it be without an anaesthetic. The dentist says £60 but he wouldn't recommend it as it would be very painful. The Scotsman says 'I'll do the £60, can I book an appointment for the wife'.

"I want to thank the mothers of these players because they gave birth to them with balls this big," said Simeone, gesturing as if holding a football.
Haha! Quality quote from Simeone

I have come across that too. But why be as bad as they are I am an Everton supporter and much better (IMO) I am not lowering myself to that level. Besides my family is divided. None of them (Red or Blue) are like that. Indeed I used to be a child member of the LFC Supporters Club. (Not my choice by the way, all done by my grandmother) I have seen both sides of supporters from both clubs, good and bad.
Like to think I anm a good biased supporter....... BUT I would really hate to be thought of as a bigoted one.
