MC11 got a reaction from Matt in Steven Naismith debate
It's not a ridiculous comment. I stand by it. I don't think Lukaku's movement is very good. Compared to Naismiths it's bang average.
I'm not suggesting Naismith is the man to lead the line either. I think there is a time and place for him. But he does seem to unlock defences with his movement.
You can't evaluate his goals on opposition either. He can only score past those who he plays against. He scored against Chelsea at the start of the season. Liverpool last season.
Just stop the service defence because it doesn't really stand up. In 21 games Lukaku has had 58 shots.

MC11 reacted to Hafnia in Steven Naismith debate
I think if we scrap his right midfield performances and judge him on his play as a lone striker he has done brilliant.
Forget how or what circumstances his goals have been scored, he has surpassed everyone's expectations at a time when we have no other valid striker options. Yes mirallas runs with the ball etc but nearly every shot is with power down the keepers throat.
Naismith has operated in and around the centre halves with great intelligence.

That makes him better than Lukaku! His goal scoring record is now up there with Sturridge and actually better than Suarez! Brilliant!

So why is Naismith getting these chances?.... Simple, he's looking for them. Lukaku's movement is like a HGV. He's static.

Always said he should only be played as a forward player. Knows where to be at the right time and can put the ball in the back of the net. In fact, I honestly believe he's the best finisher at the club. His goal yesterday was taken so coolly.

Naismith again proving all his doubters wrong. Never a winger! Looks classy in front of goal. Top finisher, great movement.

MC11 reacted to Hafnia in Martinez and concussions
. Lukaku never got concussed, he was the player who gave Loris concussion.
Naismiths didn't look like concussion to me, a bit of a knock and he was groggy. He subbed him as soon as he indicated he hadn't recovered.

Rather the shite away. There's a score to settle.

Cotto...so you had no expectations at all? But now that we are sat comfortably in 6th with a game in hand, its not good enough?! And whats all this 'grow a set ffs' stuff about?! As you can see from the responses, your views are thankfully in the minority...again. But at least you stirred up some convo, it was starting to go a bit stale!!
Honestly, I cant believe fans exsist who wouldnt want us in the europa. Unbelievable. Spoke about this in another thread.
And as for the illusion that the CL will automatically bring in a load of cash...it bloody doesnt!!! Again, have spoke about this in another thread.
I understand there is a bit of natural frustration that we arent sat in 4th, having been there for a short while, but you have to remember...no one expected 4th this season...and to get it we have to out gun some big spenders.
We'll get there eventually. ..but we'll do it the Everton way. And fans will have to be patient and appreciate the Everton way will become the only way.

I think Barkley has one assist to his name all season.

The expectations from me have always been the same "Champions League qualification".
The squad was improved, dead wood shipped out and decent younger talent brought in. So I suppose I expected more once I'd seem what was on the books. The first 3 games where shite. I remember West Brom at home and thinking this is going to be a long season.
At present Martinez hasn't eclipsed Moyes for me. It's all very similar, except the football seems to be a lot better. That's not to say we didn't play good stuff under Moyes.

It's up to our players to stand over that ball and not let a quick one get taken our mistake.

MC11 reacted to pete0 in Man of the Match at Spurs
Pienar and Baines fell into the same old trap as last season. Too many short passes to nowhere. The team need to put their head up more and pass the ball forward.

Went with Pienaar; Plaudits to Baines and Naismith as well.

Naismith proving me wrong in his preferred position.... In my defence, never seen him play there before.... I think what I'm saying is, if he stays away from the ball and makes good runs behind, he's a world beater :-)

I can se what Migel is saying to be honest. Stones has not got the attributes to play the role Martinez is asking him to do when he plays at RB
In the derby he was woeful but he wasnt exactly the only player to have a bad night. Martinez got his tactics horribly wrong on the night and as a team we were defending far too high up the pitch especially given the lack of pace we had in the back four
I dont think Roberto is doing him any favours playing him as an attacking RB. He should either change his tactics to accomodate him or get someone in who can do the job he wants from a RB

Notice Stones heat map stops at the edge of the 18 yard box. Hasn't a clue once he's there.

Stones is 20 in May. Not 18. Do your homework.
The point is he will never be a RB in a Martinez side. What got my back up about him was people saying he played well. He was absolute shite! in the derby and against Villa.

Before we all get too carried away with Martinez, I'm waiting to see when the defensive change happens.
This defence was built under Moyes, a defensive tactician who got at least one thing right - his back four. Built on solid foundations for Martinez to add his attacking players and knowledge.
The big question mark over Martinez will be his ability to replace Moyes back four. If he does this with success then we have a real talent on our hands. However, previously we have seen his sides ship goals. Put it this way you wouldn't see a Moyes side go to Anfield and lose 4-0. On another night it could have been 8-0. A scoreline, that we have seen Martinez sides get beat (or close to).
For me this is the major question mark. Let's see who he replaced Distin and Jags with. So far his only defensive signing has a red flag waved over his head. No pace and always injured.
