Goals to minute ratio can be misleading though. If that statistic is used to measure how good a striker is then according to the stats, Javier Hernandez is better than Suarez, Van Persie, Shearer, Drogba, Torres etc.

Bony had a great 2014, scoring 20 of his premier league career total 32 goals, but hasn't found that level again since and at 27 only appears to have had one good season in each of the Czech and Dutch leagues.

The fact that he was mainly used as a sub for City coming on late in games when opposition defenders were tired would only serve to provide opportunity to enhance the minutes per goal ratio - especially when you have the most creative midfielders in the league behind you.

the same Palace Martinez failed to beat at Goodison every season?

The be all and all is that this player got huge credit for doing pretty much nothing. The partnership with Barry was a hindrance as they are both limited going forward more so McCarthy. As for the projection of a tough tackling defender... Bollocks. The guy stands of more than anyone. He's probably the best jockyer in football.

Hopefully the new manager will put some "footballers" in the middle.

Indeed, and that is precisely the point. Twitter is a world of polarised opinions rather than balanced critique.

In the case of Lukaku he's either hated or loved on there, rather than assessed more accurately as a player who's goals and assists have been key to keeping us afloat this season but who now has reached a level of performance and application, along with 90% of his team mates, where questions need to be answered and decisions made on all sides. Commit and stay, or move on.

The 13/14 season was a great season but most of us knew that it was built on the back of Moyes' team.
The worry with Roberto was always going to be his track record defensively, Wigan were an absolute shambles at the back and now we know why
I honestly think this is the end of the line for Martinez, his failings have been exposed to the world and he is too stubborn to change and even if he did swallow his pride I don't think he has it in him to send out an organised team

Pellegrini would be my preference from that list. He conducts himself with dignity, fitting with our ethos, has vast experience and never seems to have fallen out with any of his players or had issues managing big names in a big squad.

Suggests that he commands respect, which reflects upon his footballing credibility perhaps if we can assume that Martinez knowledge and philosophy didnt achieve that same respect and ultimately led to his demise.

Not quite sure of the point or relevance here? If you go on to Twitter and search on McCarthy, Barkley, Robles etc, tweets in the last 24hrs include comments such as 'Stealing our money', 'on holiday mode', 'Start putting a shift in for our fans', 'the worst goalkeeper av ever seen! And av seen some stinkers', 'Also Tom cleverley is right up there with the worst Everton players I've ever had to witness' etc. etc.

Essentially, most of the players and certainly those where expectations are higher due to their previous highs, are getting slaughtered on Twitter. I suspect that if Tom Cleverley hadn't been hounded off there previously whilst at Utd then he'd be receiving massive stick again now, irrespective of whether it's justifiable or not.

I always supported the club and trusted the board to make the right decision; also played devil's advocate a bit to get some balance on occasion.

Am I happy? No. Everton are playing crap and in the wrong half of the league and our manager has failed. That doesn't make me happy at all; I wanted him to kick on from 13/14, didn't everyone?

listening to the Radio feed on the OS. Snods and Daz are so depressed with our play and overall form its sad man. I reckon they could do a better job on the pitch than our current lot.

Lukaku was right, if you have a header then shout for it. Lukaku had to try as he thought he was the only one there.

They only need to look at Klopp sniggering at the fact that even Lucas is taking pot shots at goal against the club that they own to give them the motivation they need to sort this shambles out.

Kind of understand those who look at car crashes as they pass by now (and I've never been one of them and never got why till now)

You have to look at the ambitions of the two clubs. Liverpool sacked Rodgers because they wouldn't tolerate not competing for Europe. We've given our Championship manager two seasons to stamp utter mediocrity over everything we do. That's why we're in their shadow.

Not sure that playing on the left suits Lennon, seems to lessen his effectiveness. Might be better switching with Kev.

Good intensity tonight, you can see that every one of the players as well as Martinez really get the importance of this match.

I still think all the flak he is getting is massively over the top and unfair

I don't think there is much doubt he wants to play for a top side, but why wouldn't he?
There was SPECULATION in one German newspaper that he had been shown around Dortmunds ground and people are going into meltdown without even knowing how reputable that source is . The Sunday Sport once printed a story that Elvis was alive and living on the moon , it doesn't make it true.

If he has been shown around then surely that constitutes tapping up the player and we can report Dortmund
As for his supposed poor attitude , let's get it straight the entire team have been shite since the Chelsea game and all displayed the same lack of effort but once again Rom has been singled out

The service in to him has been non existent and anyone who claims that is not the case needs their head read
He has also been playing which an injury which is bound to effect him

Lastly his wages may be astronomical compared to most of us but in the big picture the money he is on is quite modest considering he is one of the top young forwards in Europe

Totally agree about Piennar but the same applies to Rom , he is the focal point of every attack we have
I have never once claimed he is always playing at 100% , I don't think we have a single player in the squad that does. Neither have I ever said he is a very good all round footballer

I do however think he is a very good all round centre forward and unlike you I believe he will get better. if he does go in the summer I really do fear where we will finish without his goals and assists. He has been directly involved in a huge percentage of our goals over the past 3 seasons and Roberto is really going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to replace him

Although it will be interesting to see who you move onto

Maybe he's got the day off and is having a party because it's his birthday. 26 today.
As an aside, his wrist injury didn't seem to stop him being released for and playing for the national team in March

Obviously no intention or inclination to take sides here but in fairness, I don't think Mirallas' reference to 'you' was intended to mean Everton, but more likely meant you individually, with relation to your specific opinion of the player.
