Seems like that is just their editorialization of the situation. Moshiri doesn't seem to have Abramovich's need to constantly be in the public eye, and I personally don't see any signs that the club is a vanity showpiece for him. Obviously, he would like to make money out of it and not run a charity. So, there's that. But, so far, from what I've seen, he is personally investing, looking to find space and finance a new stadium, and is making appear to be shrewd decisions in the interests of the club. He said all the right things when he invested, pointing to the type of club we have and its history. He's reportedly been affable with fans.

If he suddenly becomes a vane monster who makes outlandish statements in the press and unduly rocks the proverbial boat in player/manager affairs, then I'll change my tune. But, so far, all I see is someone trying to turn the club around from the plucky, benign, mid-table side we've become and restore us to where we belong: on top. I hate the way that mega money has changed the nature of the game as much as anyone, but we can either look towards the past and deplore the present state of the game or we can focus on the future. Now, adapting to the big-money nature of things doesn't have to mean we lose our identity. We have done very well to embrace our history and situate the club as family club, and we can keep that appreciation of our history and structure all while moving forward economically and being shrewd in our business sense. It's not necessarily an either/or proposition. We can have our cake and eat it, too.

It would just kill any excitement we as fans had for the forthcoming season. Moyes had 10 years here ffs, it's not like he has unfinished business here. He was stale after about 8 years let alone starting his second bloody stint here. We'll be an absolute laughing stock if this happens. My mates who are Utd and Liverpool fans were always taking the piss when I wanted Martinez out saying that the only one we'd replace Martinez with is Moyes. It would be am embarrassing appointment and yet again show the lack of ambition we have.

In an analogy terms, imagine going out with a girl for 10 years. You haven't got much money but nevertheless she's a solid girl who never lets you down and you think you've done very well for yourself. Yeah, she might be Scottish and ginger but she's a nice girl. After 9-10 years you and her have reached as far as you can in the relationship so you both end it on friendly terms. There's no ill feeling and you both move on.

Meanwhile, you start to look for a new girl and stumble upon this Spanish girl dancing to Jason Derulo in a night club. You get chatting and she promises you that she'll take you places your previous girlfriend never could. You believe her. You start a relationship and it's absolutely mind-blowing for the first year - she's very polite with your parents and friends and very exciting in the bedroom! She actually is taking you to another world. A world you didn't think was possible so you start thinking that your previous Scottish girlfriend was actually not that good and she was in fact holding you back.

However, things are not what they seem. The Spanish girl starts coming home late and comes up with excuse after excuse and you get tired of her bullshitting. The sex starts getting boring. Very one dimensional, the same position time after time and you get bored. She's a very stubborn one. It turns nasty. This Spanish girl and you start to drift apart. You didn't sign up for this. She was not the girl she made herself out to be. She could talk but didn't back it up. You end it on a sour note. Bye bye Spanish girl.

You win the lottery. It's fantastic. You think to yourself 'right now that I've got money surely all the girls will want a bit of me. I'm a great catch.' You make a list of girls you thought were completely out of your league back in the day. You're confident all of a sudden. This is a new you. However, at the bottom of your list you scribble that Scottish girl you were once with for 10 years. More to be polite than anything else. Unfortunately, a few of the girls on your list start ruling themselves out saying they're committed to their current boyfriend. A Dutch woman seems keen on you. Very keen in fact. So keen her brother has been calling you trying to convince you that she's the one for you. You're not convinced. There's another Spanish girl on the list, but she's a bit older. Is she too old for you? Well she was pretty hot back in the day so maybe she could be a good catch for a few years or so? Again, you're unsure as she's known to be a bit of a gold-digger and has been known to spend money on stupid things. You start crossing names out one by one until you finally reach the bottom of your list and notice the name of your previous Scottish girlfriend. You think for a moment. Then, after some deep thinking, you aggressively cross her name out with a permanent marker and think to yourself 'I'm better than her'. She even disrespected you when she went with her new bloke. He finished with her. She moved to Spain and again found another bloke. As if she could get a tan, she was ginger. It was never going to work. He also finished with her. Then she flew back to the UK and now she wants more of you cause she's heard you've got some money. But you won't be fooled.... I hope.

The moral of that story is there's plenty more fish in the sea (I think). There's more girls in the world than the Scottish and Spanish ones you used to be with. Be ambitious. There's some pretty good looking girls out there. Be brave, take a risk. You're a good catch now and the ball's in your court. Don't make a balls up with your decision!!

I've never jumped on the beast bandwagon or been overly critical of him I've always tried to sit on the fence but his attitude along with his dad and agents just leave me wanting the lad gone

He's a good player on his day but he has far to many basic flaws in his game he'll be exposed on the bigger stage as not being as good as some think he actually is, he won't get away with throwing his arms up in the air when a ball doesn't go straight to his feet when he should have timed his run better or having such a piss poor touch etc

He's been as poor as everyone this season and he doesn't get any grace from me in that regard so trying to pin the blame on others is just showing his inflated ego which I'll gladly see the back of along with a large profit

I feel for all those kids aged around 8-14 who see him as a hero. He needs to be reminded of this. Me? I cant wait for him to go.

I recall being spellbound by Lineker at that age, my brother being older liked him but seen the difference in the 84-85 team to the 85-86 team. One player scored the goals with the team set up for him versus the all goalscoring 84-85 side.

None the less Lineker had a top world cup, we got a big offer and sold him. No pimping himself out. We made the call. Won the league the next season.

I'm absolutely sick tio the back teeth of this fellas agent and famuily disrespecting us. Forget all the "but he's anbitious" shouts his people have continually disrespected Everton time and time again . No it's not him saying it (although he's had his fair share himsrf) but he can speak out against it or privately tell them to stip.

There's bo Martnez here to massage his ego or kiss your arse and give in to his drmands anymore. If he doesn't want to be here then he can fuck off we'll be fine without him.

I'm at the point now where Zi just want shut of him and I'm tired of him and his people constantly thinking they're better than us. Would I prefer him to stay? Of course I would but not at the expense of him talking us down and himself up all the time.

In short, if he's not happy fuck him off, move on and get a player who wants to be here in.

Indeed, and that is precisely the point. Twitter is a world of polarised opinions rather than balanced critique.

In the case of Lukaku he's either hated or loved on there, rather than assessed more accurately as a player who's goals and assists have been key to keeping us afloat this season but who now has reached a level of performance and application, along with 90% of his team mates, where questions need to be answered and decisions made on all sides. Commit and stay, or move on.

I hope Martinez never has a good night's sleep again. I hope he has a mental breakdown, ends up on anti-depressants or in the Priory, and is reduced to a miserable shell of a human being.

He's ruined Everton and is driving fans away. He needs to pay the price for what he's done.

I feel the same. It's not only unfair on the fans, it's unfair on him as well. And Norwich is going to be toxic.

I watched that press conference and it was just depressing. The fact he didn't talk about the future is very telling. He knows he's done for. And now he's going to have to go out on the pitch at Goodison on Sunday and listen to thousands of people shouting abuse at him because the board haven't given us or him an answer.

I can't hate him anymore, I just feel sad for him now. I wish him luck in whatever he does next.

Also, and I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion around here, I do not want us to lose to Sunderland in the hope that it will push Martinez closer to the sack. I don't care about Fat Rafa, I don't care about Newcastle and Martinez is a goner anyway. I just want us to win.

I have supported Martinez and believed he could turn it around until the derby, then it became evident to me that he had lost not only the fans but the dressing room, this was confirmed by the 1st half display in the FA Cup semi final.

If was apparent to me living in London and getting back 6 or 7 times a year it should be obvious to the board. They should have made the decision to sack him after the semi final and given the last 4 games to Unsworth and Ferguson to see out, bring back the feel good factor and let players and fans end the season with a bit of relief and hope for the future.

Martinez is in my opinion a decent, genuine man who loves football and has genuinely bought into the Everton way. Some of the things he has done, like changing our style of play to a more attractive passing way, bringing in some great players and supporting Everton in the Community will be a testament to his tenure.

Ultimately he failed, most of this is his fault, being stubborn, defensive nievaty, couldn't handle players with big ego's. I respect the man and applaud his efforts. He is a human being and should be treated with respect, we have made our feelings clear, we know he is going to leave, the baying for his blood must stop.

We are Everton and are better than this.

I feel sorry for Martinez, he's way out his depth the board should have put an end to this ages ago. I lay the blame soley at their door, he's tried his best I have no doubt about that it's just not enough enough. They're now hanging him out to dry, he looks haunted and it's not nice to see. The human in me wants it to stop for the good of the mans health.

Although I feel Martinez has bought this situation onto himself, I still don't like the fact that the majority of players have been overlooked in their efforts and attitude.

Haf has alluded to the fact many of them have not put in even the smallest amount of effort the last couple of months and that's something the fans shouldn't tolerate.

IF there is a new guy, a new era, I hope he tells these players the "what's what" before getting them to actually try and play competitive football again.

There's so many things fundamentally wrong with this article I don't know where to start, but the amount of people online now in despair because they are attempting to live vicariously through their football club is at crisis point. The clubs success is not your success and neither are it's failures

References to the pre- EPL era are pointless, Football is now a global business and mediocrity has a much different context, if you are in the EPL you are not mediocre by definition, and given its in a country of rich white people and the favourite league of countries full of other rich white people that is only going to become more pronounced.

There is nothing mediocre about Everton football Club and there never has been, seems a lot of fans wish it on us though with their constant negativity.
