  1. Mate he's strong enough and he would have been playing defensively in that position just in front of the back 4, defending is his game, I wasn't implying that he played a traditional midfield role, he would held his own and if not switch it. But the inclusion of Barry was useless may as well not been on the pitch.
  2. Yes next to Gana for the reasons I stated. 1) Barry was never going to cope with the pace in that game. 2) Holgate has bags of pace can shut down and tackle, and if after a few minutes it wasn't working you could have switched him with Mori or Colman. Sometimes you shouldn't just go with the obvious choice when the obvious choice isn't going to work, so you need to look at what you've got on the bench and try and adapt it to what you need on the pitch, and I think he put no thought into how to replace McCarthy, cause we all could have told him Barry would struggle and boy did he struggle.
  3. Barry couldn't have been any deeper than he was, he made us look like we were playing five at the back most of the second half, Koeman made a massive error sticking Barry on in a game being played at that pace, if we all know that he has no pace and slow to close down, surly to fuck as a manager on 6M a year you would expect him to, there was no thought that went into that replacement, looking at what we had on the bench I would have put Hogate on, he's got bags of pace can close down and time a tackle, if after 5 minutes it wasn't working you could have switched him with Mori or Colman, none of them could have done any worse than Barry, then he takes Valencia off and sticks on a young lad to play in his position, great decision stick a young lad on in one of the biggest games of the season and play him in a position he doesn't play in talk about lamb's to the slaughter, he should have kept Valencia on who still had something to offer the game and put Mirallas on in place of Lennon who was struggling to take part in the game the longer it went on. Not impressed with his tactics when it came to making changes.
  4. Haf how did he perform in other areas compared to his usual stats particularly his movement and ground covered.
  5. We all know the loss of McCarthy was a massive game changer, but to try and fill that loss with Barry just compounded the situation, we know Barry doesn't have the legs for a high intensity game, it was a substitution that lacked any real thought, Holgate should have been used we needed his pace he would have been more effective with his speed and tackling, even if we put him in Mori's place and put Mori in McCarthy's position, as it was Barry was introduced and wasn't able to make any contribution. Then we saw Valencia taken off and replaced by Calvert I really can't work that out Valencia was and had more to offer than Lennon, so take Lennon off and stick Mirallas on but don't take off player that was still in the game and put a young lad on and play him out of position. Now I'm not saying we could have won the game if things where done differently but we could have hung on to the draw.
  6. Has Barry touched the ball he thinks he's playing in the back four
  7. We need some dead ball situations out wide that will be our best chance of scoring in the air
  8. Great half we looked the better team McCarthy was massive everyone is working for each other.
  9. The defence are starting to drop to deep and aren't pushing up when we have the ball they are walking out Baines needs to be geeing them up to stay in touch with the midfielder.
  10. The intensity seems to be hurting Barkley he seems to be off the pace a bit
  11. McCarthy is fantastic in midfield stopping them from getting into the game
  12. Lukaku needs to bully their defence they are weak and he needs to Fucking hit em with everything he's got, and they will buckle, McCarthy needs to a Vinny Jones on Lallana, hit him so fucking hard that he won't want the ball for the rest of the game.
  13. 1966 cup final the game that led a nearly 7 year old Geordie living in Swindon, to become a passionate Evertonian, and I've loved every moment of it. And Shukes does Lukaku score a hat trick hahaha.
  14. Natural goal scorers are hard to come by, look at City last night, Agueros not playing so rather than go with a lesser talented striker who the manager most have doubts about scoring they go with 3 forward thinking midfielders up front, which got the desired result. When Lukaku leaves at the end of the season we won't be able to replace his natural instinct to score goals, with the likes of Deeny,Rondon,Long and Austin they just don't cut it. So maybe the way forward could be 3 goal scoring midfielders who can work well as a unit similar to what we saw last night, and forget all about trying to find an orthodox striker. And please can we stop saying that any of the above which I mentioned are better than Lukaku, there was a time when you would have been put in a asylum for being thought as crazy for them believes, let's just all agree that they are different.
  15. Haf I wouldn't argue with you the majority of strikers in the league do put in a shift, but don't score enough goals, then you have a very small minority that do both the likes of Costa and Aguero, be honest with me when I say that they are out of our league even if Moshiri said here's 100M go and get Costa, he wouldn't sign for us. The only way we are going to get a player like that in the foreseeable future is mould one, in the same way as Wenger did with Henry. Shukes your right as well it does appear that as a club we have had a lot of strikers that don't score, mainly because we never had the funds to buy in a proven goal scorer, so the next best thing was to look for players that would work hard to make up for the fact you weren't going to get a good goal return. Now we have a player the first for years that knows where the net is, and your not happy with him because he doesn't cover as much ground as Deeney, I for one would take the goals over the miles, if before he came here he had it all in his locker then he wouldn't be here, would have been at City, Utd, Arsenal, the shite or still at Chelsea, that is I'm afraid is the reality this club has to deal with at this moment in time. And Shukes what you said about moulding him into a player that works as well is slowly starting to happen, his last two performances are heading in the right direction, but the sooner he becomes the player we want him to be the sooner he will be gone, then your get your Deeney and we will be moaning that he doesn't score goals, and some will be defending him because he puts a shift in.
  16. The 0-40s are at the moment way in front of the 41s-infinity, that's great for the support of the club going forward. But I do feel sorry for them that they missed being a part of the seventies and eighties, the music and football was legendary.
  17. Any manager would say the hardest type of player to find is one who can put the ball in the net on a regular basis. There are loads of Deeney type strikers out there, that will run all day for the team, it looks good on the eye and the stats for the amount of ground covered, but they can't do what they were brought in to the team to do which is put the ball in the net regularly. To me that makes Lukaku a better player as a striker than Deeney hands down, because he scores goals which is the most important thing you would want from your striker statistically. The only way you can disagree with this, is if you believe that scoring goals isn't the most important asset a striker should have.
  18. In the Premier at this moment in time I would take Costa, Aguero or Sanchez in place of Lukaku in that order. Can't see anyone else in this league who could do a better job than him for us.
  19. Eric if you score and keep a clean sheet, yeah your get something out of it, it's called a win and 3 points, dope.
  20. On the subject of Scottish independence I believe once we start the process of leaving the E.U, we actively encourage Scotland to hold another independence vote and keep our fingers crossed that they vote leave, because our economy is going to shrink and it would help us if we didn't have to keep bailing out there 15 Billion deficit. And I'd even go as far as to say if N.Ireland and Wales wish to follow suit let them go with our blessings it's money in the bank for us. Cornwall can't go we'd miss there Pasties and cream teas to much plus there very dog friendly.
