How did he play? I only caught the highlights, but reports make out that his goal was pretty much his only contribution. And reading through the match day thread, 90% made th match seem dire.

OK Not as influential as Wednesday night. Two free kicks in the first half were dire, straight onto goalies arms. 3rd kick came up in similar position, Rooney shooed him away and took it.

he wasn't running around helplessly as he had been in earlier games, but didn't seem to win any aerial challenges that he had.

A steady 7 would be my rating, which is significantly better then he was getting early part of the season.

Someone posted on Twitter that he done more on the touchline yesterday than Erwin Koeman and Graham Jones did in the last 4 and a half years.

Erwin who ? Never saw him move or make any noise, didn't realise he was involved.!

Yep- apparently he was like a little terrier barking instructions, clapping, encouraging them- he’ll do for me if he was. Not arsed one iota if he used to play for Liverpool.

That's exactly what he did yesterday, it's a good show of intent

  4. DCL for me, didn't have a great deal of support around him at times but he kept putting their defence under presssure and was rewarded  with an assist and a goal.

Sigi improving each week, Kenny continues to impress, Holgate after a shaky start was solid again, and Williams was a totally different man from a couple of weeks ago. Cuco even improved as the game went of, but I still worry when the ball comes near him.

Best thing for me was no one had a shocker, confidence seems to be creeping back at last, COYB

Sorry but Unsy didn't do enough as interim manager. He got a good result against West Ham but led us to some horrendous performances before that.

If Unsworth wants to make it as a Premier League manager then he has to come up the ranks. Eventually he will have to leave the u23s and cut his teeth somewhere else. Take a smaller club up through the divisions and earn his stripes first.

But that's my point, let's develop him by gettign him to work alongside Sam

So after last nights brilliant result, and F Sams confirmation as manager, I'd like to see Rhino be given a more prominent role with a view to being developed to be read y to take over at the end of Sams contract.

The passion and  and feeling he has for the club was 100 % evident at the end of the game last night, and dare I say thsame from the fans in the ground.

if Sams that good surely we should make it part of his remit to work with Rhino and help develop him ready to be our next manager, who takes over the helm in better circumstances than he did 5 weeks ago, a lesssr man would have crumbled IMHO.

I'm ready to be shot down in flames 🔥 but don't think I will apart from a couple of people out there.

Why was this moved from its own topic?

  7. It has to be Rooney, but I was really impressed with Holgate, seemed like he won every header, something we've not been doing all season.

Kenny really strong performance from a young guy leaning his profession, made the second goal with his determination.

DCL put the defenders under pressure all night, won the penalty and forced the error for the third. Unlucky he didn't get his shot past Lennon.

Siggy, looked like he is starting to find his confidence, a few nice flicks and deft touches, good delivery for the 4th.

Pickford looked full of confidence, and made what may be a season changing penalty save ( my Hammers mate certainly thinks it's a season changer for them 🤔 Shame eh)

Rest of team all good bar Cuco, I just can't see any skill in him, he went into some easy looking tackles and lost out many times, looked like he was kicking the ball with both feet at the same time , ackward and clumsy doesn't do him justice.

  9. I felt fortunate to be at Goodison last night, OK West Ham were poor, but we made them look that way, apart from the first 15 mi s or so in the second half.

I can't see Sam (we're going to have to get used to saying that) ever getting the same level of support and affection Unsy got at the end of the game, it was so clear to see the feeling he has for the club and us the fans. Top bloke hope he continues to develop himself and the U23 and goes on to be first team manager for us full time.

  10. I'm not going to judge Unsworth on Thursdays game, yes it was a clusterfuck, but is was a worthless game, a confidence building win would have been brilliant, but not at the expense of getting key players injured or running our of gas(Baines).

We need to forget about Thursday and focus on the league 100%, get some results, which we've done in the last two games, lucky or not, and get some consistency, confidence and start to look like a team again.

  11. If the disparity in the wages is correct, it doesn't take a genius to see that's wrong, your earning £100k a week and can't be sacked, there's absolutely no incentive to work hard, especially if your over 30 years old, take it easy and earn the dosh, while the youngsters work hard and put all the effort in for for a fraction, maybe Spurs have it right?

  12. This is the first big dilemma for Unsworth I think, as we all seem to agree that he needs to maintain the building confidence, but not risk injury or burning out the older one like Jags and Baines in particular due to his requirement to get up and down the line.

maybe go with a few changes that give a chance to see different pairings, say  Klaassen  in front of one of the DCM's, and pair DCL with Sandro up front.

I would love Unsworth to be a success here, I hope the crowd get behind him and the team tomorrow. COYB

The problem with Silva is that Watford's squad is completely unlike ours. We don't have the pacey wingers they do combined with pacey and strong central midfielders that make them physically tough to play against.

So do we bring Cleverly back,? he's been one of Watfords best midfielders this season

If Unsworth is hired until the end of the season could he attract the quality we need in January? We need a proper quality striker brought in in January, not just a can do a job lad or promoting Byrne or whoever from the U23s. Could Unsworth do it? Would a quality striker want to sign for someone who probably wouldn't be the manager past that summer? I'm not so sure.

I read at the weekend the average term for. PL manager is 13 months, so I'm not so sure that's a valid point, yes you would want to sign for a team with a manager you will get on with, but it's likely to change in the near future again.

The reason we are where we are is the previous manager did not get Everton. Turned us into a soulless side...

A manager getting everton is not the only criteria but for me the new managèr needs to understand or want to become part of the club.... not just a fucking employee earning shit loads of cash whilst living in a rented house or hotel away from his family.

Yes this is right, soulless and just earning cash.

i want Unsworth to get the job and to succeed as he is the opposite of Koeman, if not, then someone who has some passion, cos thats what football is all about for me.
