  1. I have defended Martinez since he came here thinking he would turn it around but yesterday was the last straw for me. He hasn't learned a thing and our defence is still leaking in goals left, right and center. The players should take some of the responsibility but the main issue is obviously how Martinez coaches them. Looking at them as individual players, most teams would bite our hand off for them. Coleman (32 Irish caps, One of the best full backs in the Premiership) Stones (7 England caps, potential to be one of the best Centre halves England has produced) Jagielka (Club captain and 38 England caps, played over 250 premier league games for us) Baines (30 England caps, over 260 appearances and one of the best left backs in the league) Funes Mori (5 caps for Argentina, now a regular at CB for them, left footed, looks a very good defender) Barry (Over 50 caps for England, 3rd in the all time Premiership appearances behind Lampard and Giggs) McCarthy (33 Irish caps, would play in most premiership sides) Besic (23 Bosnian caps, still young but looks to be a very good midfielder) You can even throw in those I haven't mentioned such as Oviedo, Galloway, Garbutt and Browning and make a case for them as well. My point here is those players above are good defenders and would walk into most sides. They're obviously managed poorly cause there is no way we should be conceding so many goals with the ability they have. The goalkeeper situation doesn't help as Howard is way past it and Martinez is the only one that's naive and arrogant enough to ignore this. If Howard makes any mistakes then it's Martinez to blame for not resolving the situation by either signing a new goalkeeper if he feels Robles isn't cut out or playing Robles who has done well when he's played. Make or break for him on Wednesday. His biggest game of his managerial time here.
  2. Absolutely devastated with the result today. Had a bit of an argument with the girlfriend as she somehow managed to walk in to the living room (she'd been watching Eastenders in the bedroom) just as Chelsea equalized in the 98th minute. Naturally, I was absolutely raging, swearing and yelling my face off. She wasn't amused with my reaction and mumbled something whilst walking out of the room to which I then told her to F*** off in my frustration. Low and behold after I calmed down I went to the bedroom and she was still pissed off saying it's not fair that I take it out on her if we don't win and so on I tried explaining that 1) She walked in at the completely wrong time so what did she expect me to do? 2) It was the 98th minute and there were only 7 minutes of stoppage time. 3) The goal was offside, 4) This wasn't the first time this had happened this season and I had a bad feeling it would happen and when it eventually did happen I exploded with rage. She still didn't understand where I was coming from and it ended with me having to apologize... (still not sure why as she mumbled something before I told her to do one so technically she started the whole thing). So all in all a pretty crap night at mine tonight. I will never understand women and I wonder sometime if they're worth the bloody hassle!
  3. Rumours on twitter that Leeds have accepted a bid for Sam Byram which would a good addition in my opinion. Someone to actually put pressure on Coleman. Made me think about the depth of our squad and thought how good a squad we could have in the summer. Granted we need to keep hold of everyone but it would look something like this. GK 1. *New Goalkeeper* 2. Joel Robles RB 1. Coleman 2. Byram 3. Browning CB 1. Stones 2. Jagielka CB 1. Mori 2. Galloway LB. 1. Baines 2. Garbutt CM 1. Barry 2. Besic CM 1. McCarthy 2. Cleverly RW 1. Deulofeu 2. Lennon AM 1. Barkley 2. *New AM* LW 1. *New LW* 2. *New LW cover* CF 1. Lukaku 2. *New ST cover* 3. Kone Out: Howard, Oviedo, Gibson, McGeady, Pienaar, Osman, Mirallas, Naismith That would mean we need 5 in this summer: 2 left winger or left sided players, 1 Attacking Midfielder to cover Barkley as it looks this is Osman's last season, 1 Goalkeeper and 1 Striker cover. The ones I've listed as out all look quite likely to leave and would free up some wages for new players in.
  4. Just finished Making a Murderer. I won't discuss it on here incase I spol it for anyone as I know it's hugely popular at the moment. All I will say is that it grabbed me from the first episode and the cotent of the story is shocking.
  5. Nearing the end of Making a Murderer on Netflix. Highly recommended if anyone's thinking of watching. It's only a 10 episodes but the story is unbelievable.
  6. Funnily enough I saw him in Wagamamas Cardiff just a while back. Looked a huge man. He's a good keeper and would definitely be an upgrade on Howard. 10 million is a bit hefty though I do agree. If they come down to 7 I'd go for it.
  7. Need fresh blood in goal. Howard's been a great servant but it t's time to part ways. Whether Roberto thinks this way is another thing.
  8. Agree. I was expecting him to need at least 6 months to settle to the Prem but he looks settled already. Comfortable on the ball, reads the game well and has a great leap. Well done Mori lad.
  9. Just read that Jonah Lomu has died suddenly at the age of 40. Terribly sad. Absolute legend of Rugby and seemed a real geniune and down to earth guy. Saw him quite a few times on tv during this world cup and he seemed in a good state of health. I know he's had health issues in the past but this is out of nowhere. He tweeted yesterday as well which has really put it in perspective for me personally. One minute you're here, with your friends and family, and then suddenly, the next morning you don't wake up, and that's it. Gone. I know it's a bit of a cliche but life really is too short and everyone should make the most of their life as no one knows what's around the corner.
  10. Deulofeu looked brilliant again. Having Stones, Gerry, Barkley and Lukaku as a spine is up there with any team. All of them have frightening potential
  11. Stones. Back to his usual classy self today. Made so many last ditch blocks/tackles plus his distribution from the back was immense.
  12. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/romelu-lukaku-now-complete-centre-10374246
  13. Maybe could have done better with their goals but overall he was very good. It will take a few months for him but he has everything needed in a premiership CB in order to succeed. His reading of the game is excellent and he's comfortable in bringing the ball out of the back. Strong in the air and it does help that he's left footed to get that balance in our defence. Great signing so far.
  14. Amen to that. He was great with his back to goal. Lay offs, one touch passes, headed flick ons - the lot. The assist shows he's more than just a goalscorer as well. Granted we've seen weak performances as well but he's still young and learning his trade. He's showed rapid improvements last few weeks in my opinion. Great player and just to get it in there - frightening that he's only 22
  15. Ha! I thought this against Norwich where he was litreally running in quicksand. Last season for Osman I think. Great player and servant to us over the years though.
  16. I watched him at Swansea away and he was class, pure class. Never seen a 21 year old play like that before. Too easy for him at times. Major overreaction about him not wanting to be here though. He made a mistake like many others have done this season. Doesn't mean he did it because he doesn't care about the club. It was just an incorrect judgement of the ball. Nothing more. He'll be back to usual self next week you watch and we'll all be saying how he's a 50 million pound defender again.
  17. Yeah. Not impressed either. Not much happened throughout the film.
  18. I don't know about anyone else but since the 1st half of the West Brom game I think his all round play has been brilliant. His touch looks much, much better and he links well with the midfield. He's winning more headers and using his strength and when given a chance he will put it away. To top it off that assist for Kone was unbelievable. Great vision and quality to able to do that. Excellent. Really impressed with him of late.
  19. Or put Neville Southall back in there!!!
  20. Martinez on Howard's criticism: "His role on the pitch is much more important than his individual performance" Again, what does that mean? He talks so much shite at times. Is he saying I don't care if he makes 2/3 mistakes a game (individual performance) but he's 36, experienced and therefore has a huge input on our younger lads?? Again, this is utter bullshit.
  21. When you haven't won a trophy in over 20 years then there's no such thing as a Micky Mouse cup. Ask any Evertonian and they'd say they want to win it.
  22. I agree. Fans tweeting him abuse because of last night is wrong.
  23. Agree. Won't name him incase it spoils it for others. Hoping to finish them in a few weeks.
  24. I don't know what more Joel has to do! Howard's 36 ffs so at his age he really should be a number 2 GK. Why not give Joel a run in goal? He's a better shot stopper, better in crosses plus he dominates his box better. He impressed me last time and tonight he looked very confident. I think that there's definitely a keeper in him. It was his signing as well plus he's worked with him before so you'd think he'd want any excuse to play him. Mind baffling. They'll be thousands of pissed off fans on Sunday and if Howard has one of those days again then Martinez is going to get it, and rightly so.
  25. Martinez has already confirmed that Howard will start vs Sunderland. "There's not even a doubt" were his words according to Tony Barrett.
