Honestly thought he was bought with this season in mind. FL didn’t want to miss out on him so gambled on us staying in PL last season, so he could play his style with a Dele in the team playing off DCL this season. Even playing off Rondon in the interim would be work short term I thought. 26 and off to Turkey is career over isn’t it Don’t know why, but I’m actually a bit gutted it’s not worked out

Agreed. I wouldn’t let him go. I’d wait for DCL and go from there. Admittedly that’s not a great plan and quite a risk but He’s not a bad player. I’d even be happy to spend the extra £10 million (or whatever it is) than get someone else in and end up with an Adams/ Maupay. For me, £10 million is low risk, with a potential high reward.

Granted he’s finally playing well, but I think that’s mainly cos he’s running around a lot and brought energy to a pretty static midfield. He’s not controlling games. He’s not dominating midfield. He can do some decent attacking stuff and some decent defensive stuff. But nothing of particular note. Personally 5-3-2 works for me. And a powerful midfield of Douc, Onana and Gueye would be the way I’d go, in a 3 Allan / Davies get in too to rotate. (And Iwobi doesn’t get on the 10 either) I’ll stick my tin hat on …

No focal point up front and therefore nothing to build up. No ball retention either so ball just comes straight back. Villa haven’t been that good. Got a goal from a mis-control. Typical of our luck that it took 3 defenders out the game. Where as ball drops to Gray on the 6 yard like and he controlled it further than most people kick it Disappointing half but all is not lost ……… next goal wins the game

Why do the media / bookies have such a downer on FL & EFC? Constant chatter about FL as one of the first to get sacked. Not a chance for me. United the club. Rebuilding a squad. Reckon the penny has dropped internally as I feel we have a DoF and Manager who are working together. That interview was great. Personally I’m fully behind FL and think as time goes on he’ll become a truly inspired appointment.

Looks like it could be a good deal. I was probably being too ambitious previously. He’s a decent player. Solid, not often injured. I’m not inspired by it, but he’d probably fit well with Tarkovski and (Holgate) until Godfrey is back. I’m not used to Everton making sensible signings!!

That was pretty good. Far more solid at the back, and we looked pretty comfortable. Goal was always coming as ball kept coming back and not being held up by forwards. Disappointed to lose, but add a couple to the squad. Have a striker you there too and we’ll be ok.

He’s a leader. So that would be 2 back there now, so an improvement. Not sure I want him tho. If true, Mina And Keane are being shown the door surely

Fair enough on Dobbin, I hadn't checked his age but the other 2 wont make it. Simms will be 22 going on 23 when he comes back from a loan at a newly promoted championship side who are going to struggle. Unless he tears it up, he'll be gone next summer

Makes us better I'd normally wince at yet another 30+ player coming in for a last big wage packet. Difference is he's still got legs, and doesn't get injured often, so the opposite to Delph etc

On the one hand, good international record which shows there's a decent level of ability The other hand is he's 29 and done nothing of note domestically for quite a while. He would be the typical player the 'Everton retirement home' have bought in recent years Better than Rondon ? YES Worth the extra wages, when hopefully DCL stays fit for longer this season so wont play ? Not so sure

I’m not convinced the Broadheads, Simms and Dobbins are ever going to be good enough. Successive managers have sacked them off on loan. At the age they are now, you’d think they’d be getting ‘impact’ minutes in the first team if they had something about them.
