Not an EFC link but I like the look of this lad and that’s a great price. Don’t know if we are even interested or could afford a deal but this is the kind of player/deal that I’d be happy seeing us involved in.

I hadn’t considered, this lad will be away with Australia for the Asia Cup - I think so anyway.

We need a young centre mid ready to step in but very much squad for now but we also need a more experienced Brownhill/ Harrison Reed (names mentioned and realistic) type who can do a job straight away. Having Doucoure AND Gueye out has stretched us too far. Gomes’ return is encouraging but we’re still short in central midfield - the Wolves game is the stand-out but not being able to make the changes in Fulham, Spurs and Man C game resulted in defeats.

I guess Lyon/Villarreal would have to buy out or compensate the remaining 6months of the loan deal. There’ll be a way to sort it if all parties are willing.

Would need replacing (and another) but I wouldn’t be gutted if he left. He can’t go without a replacement though.

I get what you’re saying but can’t agree. Some systems just work for some players and some players just flourish under certain managers with certain tactics and players are only human and go through good and bad phases in their career. Barkley’s always been a good player and whatever it is currently, suits him - much like Doucoure who has gone from ‘shite’ to arguably our most important player. Gibbs-White is a good example - at Wolves he was meh - how on earth were they asking £30m? Or whatever it was. At Forest, he looks like he could pick his next move and has probably doubled in value. Yeah, tactics are probably playing a factor in Barkley’s resurgence but he’s showing his class at the same time.

I genuinely can’t pick one today - that was so so poor. We looked leggy. The system didn’t work. We’ve done so well over the past month but our squad has been totally exposed on today’s evidence - could bench/squad players of had more time to ‘keep things fresh’? Too late now but that was a tough watch today. Time to regroup - hopefully get a couple of bodies back and hopefully a couple of new faces - preferably centre midfield options!

We’ve battered them twice and ended up with no points and out of the cup. They’re poor… then they go and win 5-0 back to back!!! I think Paulinha could be off in Jan or at least more focused elsewhere for the summer - I don’t see them gaining many points over the season.

We were saying that (staying fit) about DCL until this season… maybe Dyche has managed Gomes back to full fitness and not just thrown him back in. Clean slate in my opinion - Doucoure wouldn’t be such a big miss if there’s more to come from Gomes.

Would love to give it to Keane and Godfrey as their attitude was spot on and they were both solid after seeing so little football. Keane just pips it.

I went with Mykolenko but Garner was a very close second in my opinion.

Harrison - been a bit shit recently but put in a great shift centrally tonight. Great team performance though - so glad for Beto!

I don’t think there’s a big move for him… Man U, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal have all brought new keepers this season - Man C, Liverpool, Villa don’t need him - Newcastle is just a no go for him. I don’t see him going abroad so, as long as we’re in this league, I don’t see him going anywhere. Last summer was the time to go if he was with 4 of the Sky 6 bringing in new ‘number 1s’.

There’s a lot of noise about how poor United are but they’ve actually won the most points in the league in their past 5 (or 6) and are still right up there. They’ve obviously spent loads and are massively underachieving but actually it’s being massively overhyped in the media.

Gueye for me - I don’t think we win the game without that change at half-time and not just for his goal. Credit to Dyche. Special mentions for Mykolenko, Pickford and Tarkowski and I thought Garner busyness was important without being spectacular. I think Palace were much better than us in all honesty - mainly due to Eze’s quality. It’s a good sign to come away from a game like that with 3 points though - more credit to Dyche and his team.

100% agree - been our best player this season but had a stinker yesterday - 2 clear pens in my opinion. Thankfully, apart from whatever he was doing on their second goal, Tarkowski had an excellent game and, although he didn’t have a lot to do, Pickford was quick to cut out danger.

We need to keep and add competition. Another player who can do what Doucoure does would be huge in my opinion.
