Tactics. Change of managers. Evolution of the game. Improvement in competition in the league. Lack of confidence in the team...
    Seriously dude, seriously...

I’d take Dzeko all day, would be brilliant for us.

You mean a proven goal scorer n this league who can play with his back to goal and hold the ball up to bring others in to play, yeah I agree why would we need one of those?

I think he’d be a great interim “big name” player to attract others but certainly not a long term solution

You didn’t name any teams or players where I had asked
im not bothered about the rest of the world, I’m bothered about Everton.

It would reduce the quality of Premier teams in Europe you wouldn’t notice it so much in the domestic leagues everyone will be playing off the same hymn sheet, also teams like Chelsea have been hoarding young talent for the last 10 years or more and still don’t give them the opportunity they always go out and buy the finished articles so there wouldn’t be any changes there.
Personally I’m happy with the way things are now we’ve got the best league in the world, it’s the people who feel we don’t give youth a better opportunity that aren’t happy you can’t have your cake and eat it I was merely giving an opinion of what could be done to satisfy there concerns, and agreeing with PeteO the gambles to huge if you get it wrong.

I agree it should, but I asked you to name a club and players who cane through who would get in our team. I don’t watch any other clubs so I’d like to know what you see that makes us so poor at bringing players through at elite level.

Are we not romanticising about Ossie a little? He was a great club player but he spent 50% of the season being fantastic and the other 50% of the season being frustrating as hell.
Whilst I understand the argument that players should be kept on to for longer because they might go on to be decent players but Ossie is a very rare example, and I still dont think he would get into this side and he might not even get on the bench.
The interesting thing with him is that he only played 32 times at a lower level on loan (all comps) across 2 seasons. I'm not sure why he took so long to go on loan, apart from a season long injury a couple of years before. At Derby he played roughly 1500 minutes on his second loan.
With Osman I think its more important to look at his minutes because we kept him as an older young player for a reason, presumably because he was talented, and when he got his chance on loan he took it and played plenty of minutes.
In comparison Tom has played over 4000 premier league minutes alone,  DCL over 3900 league football minutes and Kenny has had over 4000 league football minutes. These lads have also had a lot of minutes in various cups and for the international teams.
As a better example of late developers, Kane had roughly 3000 minutes at a lower level before he broke into the Spurs team.
I am not saying that our 3 players wont improve because I would hope they would as they get more experience and learn about their own game more, but I expect that it is rare for a player to suddenly kick on to become an above average premier league player with that amount of time under their belts.

I just don’t think he’s good enough. Sorry but I just don’t see him adding anything to the side when he plays. He’s a headless chicken.

I don't generally disagree with your overall point but we are talking about DCL who played the majority of games last season and without calculating, I would guess the majority of games this season. He ha played 36 senior games before he got here and he has played 25 times for England.  This isn'tt a guy fresh out of the academy who is wet behind the ears. He has almost played 100 senior games. If we plan another project around DCL it isnt going to get very far.

instead of him taking orders from the board on the direction of the club, he's now a member of the board helping to guide the direction of the club.  means 2 things:
    1.  he wants to stay here for a while
    2. the people above him value him highly

all good things for me, i'm sure some on here will try and find fault with it (like they do most things)

I thought that too. Maybe its a move that will make it harder for other clubs to pinch him.

It's never good for a club to lose matches. The players all mix.... losing has an impact.

DCL started 5 games in a row earlier in the season and he has also now started 5 of the last 6 games.
Last season he started 9 games in a row and another 5 games in a row earlier in the season, starting 20 games in total.
If this was season 1, I would understand it, but he has played a lot of games now and he desperately needs to kick on. We are at the stage now where he either has to start being productive or he needs to drop a level and find his feet.
Now if you had said master of none I would have agreed! In fairness Niasse is a pure poacher, albeit with better work rate than you normally expect.
There arent many strikers that play just because they can finish. Strikers have to do much more than that.

That's the problem he has very little about him to suggest he's anything but a plodding central midfielder
He certainly isn'tt a box to box mid nor an attacking mid either
I'm genuinely curious as to what skills some see in him?
    Does he have pace? No
Good feet and skills? Not a bad touch etc but very little else in the technical department
    Range of passing? No
Vision or able to turn the ball over positively? No
He seems a good lad with a good work rate but I just don't see what some see in him that would suggest that he or a manaher will suddenly change his natural abilities

He doesn’t have anything to his game unfortunately. He’s not good enough for this level. So many English players fail to kick on....it would be interesting to know how dedicated some are off the field, or whether they are always out, etc, or whether they lose the motivation once nailing a big contract. You can’t have millions of Harry Kanes but we’ve seen so many just stand still

    Nice write up Bailey
He's a funny one for me DCL I just see him purely as a fast hold up man that rarely uses his pace to his advantage
I'm not sure he'll ever develop into a player that will add enough goals or assists to justify sticking with him
We need someone who can create their own space and moreso finish and as much as I disliked an awful lot about Lukaku the one thing the lad can do is run onto a ball and tuck it away and we miss that kind of forward massively
