It's been very confusing watch people go after Bill Gates based on tin foil hattery,, seems to be mostly Trump supporters who want to discredit him because he's a liberal who has been been sounding the alarm on lack of preparedness for a pandemic for quite a while, Candace Owens went on a disgraceful rant against him on twitter last night.
Guy has literally pledged to give away all his money,  and is spending on it on the most disadvantaged and people are calling him scum online.

I was a huge fan of his.... but I'm concerned that there appears to be some noise that he is a bit big on vaccines at the rivalry of therapeutic treatment that may save lives.
Have a look at hydroxychloroquine - combined with zinc and antivirals people have been getting well .. remarkably so. Yet Faucci (Bill gates made huge donations to him) is opposed to it.... lots of weird stuff going on. All big pharma style shannanigans.
I may be wrong but it seems money or the need to make money is leading the way.
    Makes very interesting googling.

    Congratulations Mike!
My father in law turned 60 two weeks ago, he's a widower and we're not allowed to visit so we were afraid it was going to be a lonely event for him.  However at 8pm people from all the houses near him came out and started applauding and cheering for him.  He couldn't stop talking about how great that was during our next 'Zoom' call.
Hope you have a great day.

He’s more than likely got it because he was a fucking idiot and shook hands with patients he knew had coronavirus!
Not wishing him ill either like.

Mine too but she sleeps like the dead.
No chance of conflict here. They shout their goodbyes and jokes out of the window, someone’s has improvised a drum kit to accompany the trombone and Alpanhorn. 5 mins of joviality seems to be bringing people together more and keeping spirits up.

Every night? That would piss me off to be honest; I'm in bed by that time on occasion so someone belting out opera would just piss me off more than I already am. We have the Thursday night 8:00pm applause going on and I've joined in with that, but some of the people in our road are doing an 11.00am "dance" session (to YMCA most recently) which is for me about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I'm not about to go out and complain and people are dealing with this the best way they can for them but honestly it's not something I need to hear.

My son made 6 years old today.  I’m so thankful for a healthy and happy son, I love him.  Thankful for the wife and daughter too, but today is his day.  Lots of Pokémon gifts and a razor scooter, even got some cupcakes delivered in the lockdown.  Simple day but joy filled.  Very grateful.

Strange I don’t see him as weak, I see a well rounded and grounded person, who is intelligent enough to know the pens mightier than the sword, I think Boris is in for a hard time by someone who is more switched on than Corbyn was.

Become a lot more transparent?! We only really get to see what they want us to see, to give this impression they are becoming more transparent. The cover up of the doctor who died from the virus is the latest evidence

I'm surprised by your comment.  Creating the illusion that your response is the best one to a crisis is page one in the authoritarian playbook.
    1) They want to keep Chinese people convinced there is no reason to question the leadership, that everything is under control.  That the communist regime is the only regime that had a good handle on the crisis.  Just look at all those capitalist countries with their thousands of deaths...
    2) They want to project to the rest of the world how superior their model of government is.  They want countries to look at China as the leader of the world, and the first 'superpower' countries should look to for help and guidance.
It is easy to say in hindsight, but it's becoming clear China mishandled this crisis from the beginning.  This could be their Chernobyl, but as it is China we'll never know for sure how much they knew, when they knew it, and what they could (should) have done.

In any other industry if you sent or gave someone a job to do and you didn’t supply them with PPE and they died, you would more than likely be facing a corporate man slaughter charge and rightly so.

As mentioned in the article, he wasn't serious about the severity of the virus.  As late as March he was talking about shaking hands in hospitals with Corona patients. May wouldn't have done that, she certainly wouldn't have boasted about it.  He sent out all the wrong signals when it was clear countries with as good or better health care services as the UK were already failing.
May didn't surround herselves with exceptionalists like Cummings who pushed for a different approach (herd immunity) to the rest of the world as they assumed to be smarter.  There are times when it is not relevant to push people to think outside the box.
May would have put fighting Corona first, Boris always weighs up if it doesn't hurt brexit.
Mike is right, he's better than Trump.. but that's about it.

Yes I agree; May especially was a disaster but I think she would do a better job on Corona.  Johnson is just a really low bar.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/26/opinion/coronavirus-uk-boris-johnson.html Britain needs a leader, not a joker.

Point is, the reality of Brexit is yet undefined.  Any future relationship is still on the table.
I'd say, the current government is in no position to deliver the national unity you speak of.   It is too ideological about the "purity" of brexit that it is blinded to compromise and nuance.  The corona crisis really brings this to the fore.  Johnson refuses to coordinate anything with the EU member states through EU institutions.  I find this baffling as I would have thought the health of UK (and EU) citizens would take a backseat to political ideology.  Cleary this thing will only get resolved through international cooperation at every level.
One recent example: yesterday it became clear the UK is not participating in Corona-related EU procurement schemes to buy ventilators, protective gear for hospital staff or corona virus testing kits.  All of which the UK does not have remotely enough of and thus would be a beneficiary of buying in bulk and distribution amongst the worst hit European states.   We've come a long way from David Cameron and the British Government that were involved in setting up the 2014 EU Joint Procurement Agreement to tackle the H1N1 pandemic...

But I happen to think he’s done a poor job at leading us during this time, so I wouldn’t mind in the slightest if the job fell to someone else. Someone capable would be nice, in fact.

If you're proposing a supra-national type of body that would provide an institutional framework where member-countries could agree common high standards for Food Safety, I'm all for it Paul 😉
