  1. If we get a good price, he should be moved on.
  2. I think this is probably the best overview of him. He is certainly a player that has his moments but they do seem fairly evenly balanced between good and bad. On his good he might get into a top 10 side but his bad weighs him down to our level!
  3. I really like the look of him based on that video. There were a lot of times that he had no right to get to a ball and it was his determination to win the ball that made it happen. He is quick, strong, good technique. He can bring people into the game with his hold up play. My one concern would be that I am not sure how many goals he will score. He looks like he could do really well in the box because he does get in front of his defender, but I didn't see a lot from him from outside of the box, or even outside the penalty spot. He had a few goals in there where he was 1v1 but you don't get a lot of that in the Premier League. His stats show he is a 1 in 3 player in Italy but I think there would have to be some doubt as to whether he would be as prolific in England.
  4. If we do keep Davies, I think this will be the club's thinking. He is cheap cover and he gives the young lads on loan a chance to grow away from the shitstorm that is the Everton first team. I definitely think it would be a bad idea for Davies though. He needs to go and play week-in, week-out at the right level.
  5. Depends where you look at on this forum. Lots of people seem to want washed up players that don't fit in with the squad!
  6. I agree, I don't see much from Simms that suggests he is going to have a future here and Cannon looks to have more about him. It all depends on if they are good enough. If they are, then yes. If they aren't then as soon as Dom breaks down again, we will be in the same position as last season with an ineffective front line.
  7. I'm not sure how reliable he is now. He played 3 games since October and in those games before his injuries they shipped a lot of goals. I don't know what his performance levels were like in those games but I think there has to be a lot of doubt about whether he would be able to be relied upon and combined with what I expect are pretty high wages, it would be a poor signing in my book.
  8. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/preston-north-end-figure-confirms-everton-transfer-talks/ It looks like we will be assessing him over the summer and if it is felt that he needs longer then he will go back out on loan.
  9. I dont think its a rumour, he has more or less said he would be happy to stay.
  10. In the same breath, I am glad that Thelwell and Dyche didnt go and panic buy. Look at how many useless players the teams around us brought in and how little they added, especially in the forward areas we wanted. Given our financial situation that would have been negligence. The bigger act of negligence was not sacking Lampard sooner.
  11. And as for Holgate playing in midfield... no no and fucking no. I feel like this is some sort of wind up!
  12. If things get really desperate, we may be able to get him back on loan to cheer-lead for another season.
  13. My view is that it is easier to organise a defence and make average defenders look somewhat capable than it is to coach players into become good attackers, create chances and take those chances. If a top centre half becomes available at our price range then we should really look at it but our focus needs to be on attacking players, including a competent attacking left back.
  14. I don't know how much stock you can put in the "Dyche doesn't play youngsters". The one decent young player he had (McNeil), he played. He is a pragmatist and I suspect he will give any player good enough a chance. I would say that Garner already looks like a replacement for a central Iwobi. He also covers right back like him as well! Garner is on a 1/4 of the salary. We bought Garner for £10m. Iwobi has a market value of £25m according to Transfermarkt.
  15. Ange Postecoglou is the new Spurs boss. I think that is a really good appointment. I wasn't sure he would get such a good gig on the back of Celtic but fair play to him. It will be interesting to see what he can do there given how badly Conte failed. I can see them scoring a lot more goals next season.
  16. I don't think its incorrect. If he was good enough at centre back, he would have played centre back. He wouldnt have stayed on the bench when we had fit full backs. I agree that plenty of our defenders have made mistakes but his decision making, and particularly his positions, have been bad ever since we signed him. Saying well, the others made lots of mistakes too, doesn't make him a better player, it just explains why we are here. Personally, I would still say Keane is more of the answer than Godfrey. Problem is, I really don't like the question!
  17. He definitely isn't as quick or as agile as he was.
  18. He is a big lad but he is at his best with the ball at his feet. Not sure its the right fit.
  19. I disagree. If he was as good as some people on here believe, he would have started at centre back. He played full back because he wasn't good enough at centre back and he was considered the next best option, probably because he is more mobile than the rest. He has never been a good defender. He was dodgy at Norwich and whilst he has the physical attributes to be a good defender, his instinct to defend is not there. He makes shocking defensive decisions. You can put him in the best system you like but when it comes down to him making a decision, he will make too many bad ones. The fact that he also now seems to have lost his pace makes him an even worse option.
  20. I agree with you apart from the last bit. Im not necessarily sure we will have the cash to move him out of the starting 11. I think the lad has a lot of ability but lacks a bit when it comes to football intelligence. He has more of that than Gray though, which is worrying.
  21. I like stats that mean something, not rubbish like that As Romey says, thats all well and good if we can sell the other three. If we can't then buying Coady would be a waste of money we don't have.
