  1. Both of these. Pienaar was very frustrating last season and deserved to be sitting on the bench more than he was but by the end of the season he was starting to show his form again and to say Redmond, who I thought was equally frustrating in the games I saw of him last season, should be given Pienaar's spot is crazy talk. I still dont think we should waste that amount of money on him. He is your typical quick, head down, dumb English winger. They can make themselves a decent career under the right manager but I think we need a much more intelligent player if we are going to progress as a club.
  2. The difference is Kone can create his own chances either through his individual play or his link up play with his team mates, whereas Jelavic needs the rest of the team to put the chances on a plate. The current prices quoted are far too much but Kone has a much better all round game than people give him credit for. The amount of times I saw him hold the ball up well and play clever little passes into his team mates surprised me as I didnt realise that he had that ability.
  3. I think that middle but is what Martinez was referring to in one of his interviews. A lot of the time, players get wage increases for very average performances but Baines would be fully deserved over his period at the club.
  4. He is more proven than our current strikers and he can offer a lot more to the team than our current strikers. He wouldnt be my first choice by a long way but at the right price he will be a very effective striker for any club.
  5. Apart from Toffee Talk you mean! All the gossip columns on here are almost fact
  6. The £4mil quoted is £4mil too much imo. Ridiculous price for a player of his limited ability.
  7. No its not. The Keeper should have stayed big but instead he went down far too early. Put it this way, most top flight keepers would have saved it. Im all up for players lifting the ball over the keepers legs but that was right over his body, more or less down the centre of the goal.
  8. I actually think its the other way round. Redmond is the type to get his head down and just run where as Ince was looking around, playing decent balls and making some very intelligent runs at times. Ince is a much smarter player than Redmond. I think Redmond has talent but he looks no different now compared to when he burst on the scene. I agree about Redmond. He has pace, the odd trick but not much football intelligence. For 2mil I suppose we could buy him, possibly send him out on loan and then try and flog him for a profit if it doesnt work out but I would rather spend the 2mil on someone who is better and has more potential.
  9. Carroll will be a big player for West Ham and he will more than make up for the £15mil fee. Perfect striker for the way they play.
  10. I agree about Spain but not Italy! The German team has far more potential and they would have probably waltzed our group even with the squad they had out there. Holland should have probably beaten Italy with the chances they had in the first half of the semi too. Although the one thing that is for certain is that all the above teams will be a damn site better than us!
  11. I think West Ham could go well too. Carroll is a big signing for them if he can stay fit. He must be the perfect striker for Big Sam.
  12. There is no point buying players to sit on the bench. You need to buy players who improve the first team, who then push the previous starters on to the bench. If you do it the other way round you are asking for trouble as the quality in the team goes down.
  13. Im with Villa. They started playing really well at the end of last season and their kids would have learnt a lot, although it will depend on what happens with Benteke to some degree. Southampton may be interesting now as well with Pochettino being give more time and money to get his own players. Im not sure Sunderland will do that well. I dont really expect Di Canio to still be there come Christmas.
  14. I wouldnt exactly be disappointed if he did change things up at the back a little. Lets not forget that the variations of our back four have had us tearing our hair out pretty much every year up until Christmas/January since Lescott left.
  15. If the keeper had stayed up he would have saved it. The finish for the other two goals was better IMO. Cracking couple of saves from our keeper too.
  16. Leroy Fer has a bit of Tim Cahill about him aerially. He lingers in the air for so long and looks so dominant, although Tim would have put that chance away! Shame he has only just come on and hasnt been given more time.
  17. He really is a top player. The Norwegian defender took the dummy a bit too easily but even so, he sorted his feet out so quickly and poked it straight into the corner. We need to find a cheaper version of him
  18. Both Di Santo and Espinoza are extremely limited so why on earth you would want them anywhere near our team is unfathomable. Why replace one average player with two more? Doesnt make sense at all. All attacking full backs get caught on the break and Baines is no different. Infact he is probably one of the best at trying to recover his position, along with Cole ironically. When Baines takes corners there are normally at least two other players covering his position so it makes no difference.
  19. Id rather they spent 20mil on a crap player instead of 20mil on an overpriced good player!
  20. Good point Marco. Even when Distin gets his head on things they very rarely go on target. Duffy knows where the goal is and if he is able to stake a regular place in the team, then he will be a real threat.
  21. I think thats a decent choice for them. I think Coyle got caught out by trying to change the ethos at Bolton. They went from Big Sam's long ball style of play to two terrible managers in Little Sam and Megson and whilst he managed to do well with them in his first season they were terrible in his second season. Coyle's Burnley side played some excellent football and trying to make that change at Bolton would have be difficult (especially considering the shite the two managers in between would have left him). Wigan already play good football and with the right signings I think they will be able to compete for the play off spots in the league.
  22. I agree with you to an extent. As a footballer I think he could do a job but I dont like his attitude as he wouldnt fit in with the rest of the squad. As somoene else pointed out, his wages would be a stumbling block too.
  23. There are plenty but Suarez flaunts it where others at least try and cover it up! Im not saying Suarez doesnt cop more stick from the media than the English players but what I am saying is that if he doesnt like all the negative attention he is getting then he should stop being a cheating bastard. Gerrard has played in the PL all his life and I would bet that he still has less major 'incidents' than Suarez in his 2 years over here. Yes the press go overboard (on pretty much everything mind you) but if Suarez wants to act petty, racial abuse players, blatently dive on several occassions, bite people, kick people, give shit to refs, spit at people, and God knows what else then he deserves the exact type of shit that he gets.
  24. Bloody hell I actually agree! Moyes did his thing and now its Martinez's turn. Moyes did bloody well with what he had and Martinez did too.
