  1. It's not shite many players better than Silva have struggled to have an impact over here. Veron, Shevchenko, Deco, and Ballack all experienced and class in other leagues but didn't cut it at the same level in the prem.

Never seen Fabregas put a shift in to rival Fellaini v City, not players ever will. Most of what your saying rests on Moyes wasting him out of position. As a DM there's no rival for what he can do, just imagine if he played there every week.

Well at least we agree on one thing :)

  2. Barca laughed at the bid for Fab, they paid 10 more with him begging Arsenal to let him go that would be a truer value for Fellaini. Don't get how either example has logic one bid was brushed aside and the other player was inexperienced, see Steve_E's post for a logical reason. Closest comparisons would be Modric or Fab (£35 mil) as prem experience or the only player at his ability/position Martinez who went for €40 mil.

Id hardly call Silva inexperienced(please don't start all that 'Well he never played in the premiership before' shite) He had played in a seriously talented Valencia team and the Spanish national team.

If you want to use those as examples i still think both those players are the next level up from Fellaini, and i have seen people saying we should be looking for £30m+ and i just don't think he is worth anything like that sort of money. He has been in the Premiership for 5 years now, if he really was THAT good, he would have been long gone by now imo He definitely has the potential but just doesn't show it anything like the required amount. The reason i want him to stay is so we can see what Martinez could add to his game, id love to see him being the main man in a Martinez type midfield, he could become a £50m midfielder under Martinez imo, but sadly i think the manger is quite happy to part with him. At the moment i do think some need a reality check though, just look back to last season, post christmas he disappeared in half the games just out of pure laziness, NO CL team is going to pay £35m for a guy who blatently strolls round the pitch like he does at times, it's just not going to happen.

  3.

He is one of the best CM in the league, without doubt. Modric went for 35m, Felli is not 12m worse...

Sorry Matt, but i don't think he is anywhere near the top CM in the league, City only paid £23m for Silva and some fans want us to ask £30m for Fellaini, Silva's light years ahead of Fellaini(i know this is only one example) opening bids for Fabregas recently were £25m, again a totally different league to Felly. Im in agreement that i don't want Moyes getting some special deal from Blue Bill, but some fans valuation's are laughable. Im actually warming to the idea of keeping him and selling Baines, makes more logic when you think about it.

  4. I think 38 mil is getting there. With clever work on the transfer market that could get us 4-5 players that improve the starting 11/squad.

Sad to see both go but sometimes you have to do whats best for the club and the club is bigger than Fellaini and Baines.

Would prefer to just sell Felli at around 28 mil though

He's not worth that though that's why no one has moved even when the release fee was active. Look at it from a different viewpoint, when Fellaini joined us he was raw, petulent, poor disciplinary record, but it was obvious that he had something, so it was up to Moyes to polish the rough edges and make him into a player. So 5 years down the line and what's changed.. not that much imo, YES he has improved his overall game but he is still petulent/sulky, still ill disciplined, no one seems to know whether he is better upfront or as a defensive player. The big teams want more of a finished article than what Fellaini offers imo. Don't get me wrong he deserves his chance in the CL, but he has been linked with moves ever since he got here yet no one has ever actually come in for him, somewhere around the £23m release fee is about correct imo.

  5. Agree to disagree mate ;) seen Barca many times (live and followed them intensely since 2010after living there for a year). No doubt it can be impressive but most of the time it's boring for me

This is one of the reasons i was never 100% convinced on signing Martinez as manager,Hopefully he will adapt as a manager and use what he has here because the barca system is a very particular style of play and we don't have enough of those sort of technical players across the squad to play it. Barca manage it because they have the correct players and their players happen to be the best of the best so that's why they always look impressive. We simply have not got the players/squad for it imo, id much rather see us mix it up, the top teams can do a bit of everything during the 90 mins.

  6. No they didnt. He left McManaman advanced to isolate him against the full back just as he is trying to with Mirallas but both have had to track back as well.

Maloney was used to drift around the pitch a lot like he is using Barkley. Both the above players were allowed more freedom when he played 5 at the back.

Im not so sure, i remember seeing Kone upfront, Maloney as a floating type forward, and as you pointed out McManaman against the fullback, that's a front 3 in my book, BUT tactics change so many times during the 90mins depending on the flow of the game, so let's just agree to disagree on this :)

Thoughts so far: I have loved watching us pass it about the pitch in both games but it would be nice if we did something with it. It appears we are no more clinical than we were under the previous manager. Jelavic has got until January to start performing imo, otherwise we ship him out, and in the first 2 games i don't think he has done himself a huge amount of favours so far, hard work yes, but the important stuff is still missing. I think he should play in the COC and if he has another poor game then Kone should start against Cardiff. One side point, when Martinez first went to Wigan he tried in the summer and winter window to sign Vic, yet since taking the managers role, Vic has hardly featured under Martinez, should we look to move him on and free up funds if he is not going to be used?

I also think Pienaar and Barkley need to cut out the long shot's all the time. The chances that Pienaar had to slide a ball through from the edge of the box the other day, and he chose to just shoot 9/10 hitting the CB. We need Gibson back in the team, but for how long he is fast becoming a bit part player because of his injuries, McCarthy(if signed) is really a replacement for Gibson rather than Fellaini, maybe that's Roberto's plan, who knows.

It's going to be a frustrating season for us fans, i think we could yo-yo up and down the table a little bit, part of me thinks Martinez is trying to change too much at once, and the other part thinks they are top class pro's and should be able to adapt, and if they can't then they know where Lime Street Station/John Lennon Airport are. All we can do at the moment is be patient and see what happens and look again at christmas time.

  7. One thing i thought from today was, we don't seem to play with a front 3, Martinez played with 3 forwards at Wigan, yet it seems like it's Jelavic/Kone with Pienaar/Mirallas supporting from out wide. As was discussed in an earlier post, it's not really Mirallas's game, nor is it Pienaar's, when he comes inside he seems to just want to shoot. It's great watching all this possession football at the moment but we are not doing anything with it, this final week of the window could be interesting.

  8. Just a few observations:

    - You know it's not going to be your day when your captain is having a stinker like Jagielka did.

    - Coleman looks amazing but needs to offer more than just kicking it wide and trying to run in behind the defender.

    - Home or Away Osman should not start in the team unless it's as cover for injuries.

    - We need more options in the midfield before the window shuts.

    - Jelaivc is not the answer up front as a lone striker imo.

  9. Hes not the Messiah. Who should he replace? Jags or Osman? They are the only players below par today.

Id replace Osman with Oviedo and move Pienaar into the middle

Im not saying he is, im only suggesting give him 15-20mins from the end, not bring him on now
