  1. I think many are making judgement on what they've seen of him, regardless of anything else. I along with many others think he will be an excellent signing and exactly what we need.

No concern about him as a player, i think he will settle in straight away. Just the fee that concerns me £15m is an awful lot, imo should be no more than £10m

  2. Idiotic point. I used to loathe Donovan, but came around on him after seeing him at Everton. And if I were you, I'd think again about the connection between American nationalist sentiment and soccer fandom. In general, I'd say our clubs override our quest for American empire.

Not at all, it's my observation that after one good loan spell a certain section of the fanbase are desperate for us to get him back, he's mr average as far as im concerned and we have a few of them already, we don't need another. This is a forum and im entitled to my opinion so let's just agree to disagree, yes?

  3. Gerard might get some game time tomorrow, get the crowd going, at home 1st game and all that, and it's only West Brom, if we could get a couple of goals first half, then it would be great to see him get 45mins

Please don't be Barry. Please don't be Barry. Please don't be Barry.

Good to see Roberto is still looking to be active in the market, but it must be slightly awkward, he needs a plan A for if Baines and Fellaini stay(i guess this is his one more in statement) and he needs a plan B for if they go, as we will need more than one signing then. The mancs need to make up their mind what they are doing, otherwise it will be a last day thing, and knowing us we won't replace in time.

  5.

Giving some young players a place on the bench and not using them doesn't improve them as much as working with a top professional like Donovan every day of the week would.

I reckon they will learn more from playing/training with someone like Deulofeu who is one of the worlds hottest young talents, and also a similar age to them and they can relate to him better than they would Donovan.

I do love how are US fans try to encourage a re-signing every window, but imo it's just another over 30 player, not needed.

  6. I watched some of the Athletico vs Barca game last night, and Athletico had a guy upfront called Diego Costa who i believe the shite were linked with the other week. Well talk about Suarez mk2, he was diving, rolling moaning to the ref, really don't understand why they would want another player like that.

  7. What's funny is that..

    a) Everton have made no indication whatsoever that they want McCarthy (officially)

b ) Wigan haven't put any price tag on him, let alone £15m (officially)

    c) If anything was going to happen, or has happened you'd hear it first from Dave Whelan, way before SSN or the rags. (Not officially, but it is DW!)

Reading this forum you'd think McCarthy was the only midfielder in the world we could buy and considering its all sprouted from paper rumours I think this is getting a lot of wasted energy!

Pretty sure Whelan said at the start of the summer when there was us and spurs interested that he would cost nearer £20m

  8. I think he will be ok as i don't think Martinez will start him every game. If we can get a CM/DM brought in and maybe shift Osman upfront, he can be gradually eased in over the season. He is going to need a settled 2 behind him though, whether it's Felli+Gibson, Gibson+Another, Felli+Another etc, etc. So that if he does lose the ball he doesn't have to have the worry about getting it back so much, just concentrate on what he's good at.
