A good captain will motivate a team and lead by example....you don't need to know the players to do that. Just hit your first match with heart and soul and the players will take note.

Now I am excited. This is just the type of signing that will improve us. Add Gueye and his energetic style into the middle and all we need now is a spark. It doesn't even need to be a first team player, just someone to keep the likes of Lukaku and Ross fighting for thier place.

I agree..Stones isnt our best defender. He probably will be one day and he is without doubt one of our best prospects. But he isn't our best defender. How cost is reflective on his age and promise just as much as ability. If he was 30 would we be offered 50m for him?

You can take the piss, out of Haf haha, and I'm fine with that...as long as it's not me. But why not buy division one players who have scored a boat loads of goals against opposition that doesn't matter? Or why not buy Richie from Oldham because he scored eight in one game....after 9 matches he was 1 in 1 stat wise. We finished eleventh with Lukaku's goals...what a hero. When we finished fourth...who was our top scorer and how many? Like it or not Lukaku was only fourth top scorer in the prem and we finished shit. Let's buy our top scorer when we finished fourth, he obviously scored more didn't he? Now if we finish fourth and Lukaku scores 20, then that's great.....but come on people. Position means more than goals scored. It's simple.

Look above. Keeping in the spirit of the thread, the two people discussing the point both have a good argument.... But neither are right.

My point was mate that those teams finished pretty well and should have decent players in those positions. But we don't know them without research.

What about Tottenham, Aresnal, West ham and Southampton?

Hope our new manager isn't so blinded and realises that having Rom score in a 2-1 defeat isn't as good as him not playing and us winning. Everton will come before Rom being the premiers top scorer any day for me.
