Best Song Ever?

We all have a favourite song, but that will change over time.

What you like now will not always be your favourite.

Much better to ask what songs you like or dislike.

I actually do not like Bohemian Rhapsody although I do like a lot of Queen stuff.

Not sure if I have an actual favourite at the moment though, there are a number of songs I like. I am not sure you would want a list.

  • 3 weeks later...

Desert Island discs allows you eight tracks so (off the top of my head)..

Wall of Death - REM version of Richard Thompson song

Tank Park Salute - Billy Bragg

Ready for Love - Mott the Hoople

Oasis - Don't Look back in Anger

Something by Neil Young, need to give it some thought.

Johnny Clegg & Savuka - The Crossing

Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn (pure relaxation)

James - Sit Down

...probably be a different list tomorrow :P .

But it's hard to argue against Bohemian Rhapsody being the best pop song ever recorded as far as mass appeal is concerned.

ELO (almost anything you like by them)

When I need you Leo Sayer (i'm a romantic old bastard)

She's leaving home Beatles

1812 Overture Boston Pops (on a desert island you need something to take your frustrations out on)

El Paso Marty Robins, gives you a chance to learn the words

Nesum Dorma, Pavorotti, a hair tingling performance to keep my spirits up

jeez, MikeO, as a massive REM fan, I never in a MILLION years expected to see their cover of Wall of Death posted in this topic!!!

interesting how many have put in Oasis tracks, but each choosing a different one - could be a different sub-topic on it's own, perhaps slide away edges it for me.

no bob dylan tracks posted yet, so I'll put forward Like a Rolling Stone

Def Leppard - Billy's Got a Gun

Holst - Mars, the Bringer of War

Nightwish - Stargazers
