pete0
I can't believe this was number 1 for 2 weeks! What drugs was everyone on at the end of the 80's?
Dalziel Kane
I actually bought that on vinyl when it was released in the summer of 1987 and not afraid to admit it. It was #1 a week or two before the fucking awful Rick Astley 'Never Gonna Give You Up', I remember it like yesterday. A one hit wonder if ever there was one. Dalziel Kane
I think we've agreed on more than that, but you just wouldn't admit it. I saw them in concert at the MEN arena Manchester some years back and they only came together from the ashes of Joy Division after Ian Curtis took his own life in 1980. One of the best UK bands this country has produced I think.

MikeO
Bronski Beat Smalltown Boy 1984 That's the fifth time since March you've posted that is this thread....I'm sensing a Jimmy Somerville crush . Jordan will be devastated .
Dalziel Kane
1984 was one of my favorite ever years, a lot went on that holds some special memories. I'm not really a fan of Somerville, good singer, but I didn't like The Communards one bit. Private Eye editor Ian Hislop is a big Somerville fan apparently. Dalziel Kane
There's not an awful much to listen to, the best thing I found was Bruce Springsteen on Vintage TV 'Streets of Philadelphia' had enough of that already, Dire Straits on ACR, 'Walk of Life' Hard to watch anything with so many damn commercials. I've estimated that for every hour of radio or sound broadcasts, about 35 minutes of it are commercial advertisements, it spoils everything. On now, Hotel California by the Eagles. Just any port in a storm.

Dalziel Kane
I was trying to listen to commonsense but it wouldn't fucking come. There can be no dispute sometimes, no matter how trivial the sources. There was something on Absolute 80s that I have never heard before so I don't know what it is and I can't change the channel from my position. I waited for the next track, and it was 'Fairground Attraction'.. at this point, I switched off output and made a damn decision.
