Bailey
I personally wouldnt mind providing we got someone in who would even out Moyes' weaknesses. Round is clearly too much of a yes man for Moyes looking at a lot of his team selections/subs/general ideas so getting someone in who could help address that could only be a good thing. I dont mean to sound like Im knocking Round, but from an outsider looking in, I think a change could be a good thing.
dark
I don't know enough about Round to comment. Maybe Boro should have stuck with Southgate?

But the decision on who to hire would be made by Moyes, so whoever he brought in would be likely to be the same again.
dark
^ Agreed. I like Round too, he seems like a decent guy - we could have much worse.
Hafnia
Let's be honest, no one outside of Moyes and the players know if he is any good. The likelyhood like all number 2's is that they do as they are told. When Irvine left, results did drop. One thing I have often seen with Round is him holding his chin ala the thinker and nodding in agreement with Moyes - if this was to happen just before Moyes brings on Tony Hibbert for a forward player when we need to score then I will drive him to Boro myself. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.mfc.co.uk/javaImages/bd/9/0,,1~3344829,00.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.mfc.co.uk/articles/20080715/boro-ex-factor-summer-update_70638_1343604&usg=__4apa-gN_K-7088w-KSSGRk6rT4s=&h=180&w=312&sz=26&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=h7dbc7FBuSHVpM:&tbnh=143&tbnw=203&prev=/images%3Fq%3D%2522steve%2Bround%2522%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1659%26bih%3D796%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=218&ei=DG7ATM_fJIS0tAbjpJS5CA&oei=DG7ATM_fJIS0tAbjpJS5CA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=32&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0&tx=115&ty=
rubecula
If Round is to be replaced, rather than bring in someone with little or no experience, what would you think of bringing a manager from a lower league side as a number 2, just in case we need to replace Moyes in the forseeable future? MikeO
Or maybe promote Stubbsy? Could be a bit early for him....I don't know.

Does thick as pig shit really go hand in hand with a top job like that? It's as scary a thought as Jason McAteer getting a job that really matters! It's as scary a thought as Jason McAteer getting a job that really matters! Does it take much brain to be a number two? I think he could motivate, particularly the younger players (which is probably a good argument for keeping him where he is....I'll shut up now ). If you're just going to be a yes man then probably not. I wouldn't want Stubbs as our number two tbh, we'd be even more likely to be ultra defensive! Ian C
Jimmy Lumsden would be first in line, wouldn't he? Perhaps Andy Holden?

However if Round did go I think it would very important to get someone with European experience.
