Don't dismiss a valid post, which is a considered point of view if you have nothing better to offer than "classic". Some feel moyes was right, I think it was a decision made at the wrong time. Had a good chat about this today with my brother who was a very very good player, had bad luck but that's another story, anyhow he's a red so the answer is more relevant. He hasn't seen Barkley but said given where he was playing (right mid) it wasn't critical to take him off. Would have been wiser to let him have a go and the other players should have been able to support him. If he was centre half then yes. I need to add though, that pressure is self amassed and as a result needs to be self controlled. What is of vital importance to one guy is part and parcel to another. The more you are faced with a situation, the less overwhelming it becomes, and you become more familiar with it, and able to come to terms with it. Winners, as HB quite rightly pointed out, are normally psychologically stronger than losers, and talent, doesn't always come in to it. How often have teams for example been rolled over by United? Look at the Arsenal game, to understand just how weak the Arsenal players were psychologically than they might have been, and then look at how weak the United team were against Barcelona. I'm sure not 'all' players were weak, but guys who turn someone over one day, are often turned over themselves the next. Harrisson against Haye, and Haye against Valuev is another good example. To be the best, particularly in order to dominate, rather than a flash in the pan, you have to be the strongest mentally. Ronnie Osullivan is the only guy I know who has actually gotten through on talent alone, but still failed in the mental battle. There are many sports psychologists in modern games now earning lots of money. Everton would be so much better, if Moyes were to make us stronger mentally. Even as far as Tiger always wears red on the final day of a comp as the colour is more aggressive to his opponents. People pay a lot of money to the psychologists now days, and imo its worth it.
