c1982
Zoo's Question of the Day Round 9: What are the top three 'best performances by a host' at the FIFA World Cup? (win percentage will determine how good a team did). Also, which three nations did the worst when they held their tournement? 1 - France - 98 2 - England -66 3 - Uraguay - 30 (1st WC) 1 - South Africa 10 2 - USA 94 3 - Japan 02 (that was the joint yr with Korea?) Complete guesses - not a clue but gone for host winners and recent shite hosts!!!
Zoo
Uruguay and France are correct answers; Uruguay hosted the tournement in 1930 and won it with a win percentage of 100%. France also hosted the tournement and won it in 1998 with a win percentage of 85.7%. Both Uruguay and France won the cup un-defeated - well done Jona! Damned iPhone takes me so long to post and you sneak in... hope it's wrong now!!! Think at least one answer will be a non winner with top hosts. Zoo
c1982 is right with South Africa and United States; South Africa hosted the tournement in 2010 and went out in the group stages (the only host nation to have done so) with a record of 1-1-1 (percentage 33.3%). United States however did progress to the next round but ended the tournement with a final percentage of 25%. They have a lower percentage than the Africans but did get to the next round so the un-disputed 'worst nation' is the South Africans. Well done C. marcus jones
West Germany in 74, if not Italy (sometime in the thirties) win % that is. Not a scooby about the poxy performing teams though!
Zoo
West Germany in 74, if not Italy (sometime in the thirties) win % that is. Not a scooby about the poxy performing teams though! Correct. West Germany have a higher percentage than fourth place England as they managed a total of 85.7% winning the tournement in the process. They also managed to score 13 goals conceading just 4. Three right answers for you mate - well done.

Michael Ballack was arguably a legend at Bayern Munich but never actually became their captain. Well done on the others though. Klaus Augenthaler (80's), Helmer (90's) (forgot his first name) and someone sounding like Schwarzenstein from the 70's. Klaus Augenthaler is a correct answer and seeing as the quiz is on its last legs I'll let you have the Schwarzenstein guess (his name is actually Schwarzenbeck). Helmer however along with Muller has already been said (and confirmed as right).
