I don't believe in third / fourth place play offs in games / tournaments, regardless of stage or level.

You've got two beaten semi-finalists, they have to be mortified after losing at such a pivotal stage, and you put them in a silly pointless game just to see who can claim third place, or the best of the also-rans.. Never really did comprehend that.

Say it now, it's only a matter of time before the excellent FA introduce that for FA cup semi-finals. If you lose a semi-final, that's end of play, no need to go into a decider with the other beaten side. Someone once said "No-one remembers (the) losing semi-finalists", but it appears they're making a meal of things.

I think scandalous is putting it lightly.

Nigerian clubs suspended after 'scandalous' scorelines

Four clubs involved in two play-off matches that ended 79-0 and 67-0 respectively - a total of 146 goals - have been suspended in Nigeria.

Plateau United Feeders were 79-0 victors over Akurba FC while Police Machine FC demolished Bubayaro FC 67-0.

"It is unacceptable - a scandal of huge proportions," said Muke Umeh, chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Organising Committee.

"The teams are suspended indefinitely, pending further sanctions."

Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine went into the matches level on points, with promotion to the lowest tier of the Nationwide League Division at stake.

Feeders scored 72 of their goals in the second half, while Police Machine reportedly scored 61 times after the break in their game.

The results meant that Plateau edged above Police Machine on goal difference.

Umeh added: "We will investigate this matter thoroughly and get to the bottom of it."

The NFF's director of competitions, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, gave assurances that the Organising Committee would hand out severe sanctions on all persons and institutions indicted by the investigation.

"The teams involved, their players and officials, match officials, coordinator and anyone found to have played some role in this despicable matter would be severely dealt with," Sanusi said.

He studied at Brentwood School, a private school in Essex, UK. During this time he represented the Thai national team at schoolboy level as well as being on the books of London-based club Crystal Palace. His performances for his school helped them reach the final of the 2001 Independent Schools FA Cup, scoring 8 goals in 4 games along the way.[1] He eventually moved to Everton for one year before returning to Thailand.

Newcastle United - The joke that keeps on giving.

Joe Kinnear has appointed Mick Hartford as his assistant raising fears that he is making a shadow management team behind Alan Pardew. To make matters worse someone on another forum said that Mick is a Sunderland fan (although I don't know how true this is).

The club is in tatters - they are also the only club in the Premier League to have signed nobody.

Makes a change.

Love it though, maybe the media will one day stop hyping them up as this massive super amazing club they think they are.

Hiddink has left his job as manager of Anzhi just a month after signing an extension sparking rumors that he's the new Barca boss.

Edit: Confirmed Tata Martino is the new manager of FC Barcelona.

His real name is Gerard and it's damn irritating why they use nicknames for players and individuals rather than actual names, but in short, you can find all the relevant information on his Wiki page, but not really interested in what Barcelona do. Whether he's a hit or miss, all a bit indifferent on this issue.
