Louis
Big Bill has apparently said that qualifying for the UEFA Cup is not worth the hassle as the rewards are little and it will only activate player bonuses. Business sense or lack of ambition?

Bill
Probs a bit of both. I heard it said last season that unless you get to the final stages, it actually costs the club Money. Never made a penny from our four games.
SimonButtle
Lack of Ambition, the chairman should never say stuff like this but then it is BK is'nt it.
StevO
this fella is rubbish! we need a proper spokesperson, who knows when and what to say. BK you are an idiot!

Zed
The year Middlesborough got the the final they lost money, this may be a fact, but as Stevo said, hes got to learn to say the right things at the right times Or was this statement made behind closed doors
StevO
you may lose money, but if you are consistently in the UEFA cup then there is more scope for investment and more attaction for players
CraccerC
we lose money, we play more gamessounds bad to me but its europe thats what the fans want so lets go for it! we wont necessarily lose money...kenwright appears blinkered in his views to me. being in europe would allow us to attract better players, we would gain revenue for matches and reaching phases, and it would perhaps increase the fan base and merchandise sales. more importantly than finances, it would improve our european ranking, and get Everton a step closer to were we should be, and thats challenging with europes elite financially, it may have an adverse effect for a year or 2, but in the long run it would be benefitial
Robo
bet it won't as much as this stupid new stadium idea of his. what a stupid thing to say of course europe is a priority

BLUE-TAC
Cheers BK, that'll motivate the plyrs! So 7th it will be then if he has his way? Aren't we also forgetting that by finishing in a uefa cup place, we will therefore make more money from the prem league - how much is each position worth...dunno but it's a major factor and from next season will be even bigger. Think BK you numpty!
Droobie
we lose money, we play more gamessounds bad to me but its europe thats what the fans want so lets go for it! But then again do we have the right squad size and depth for those extra games? And more money saved would be more money for the transfer market neh? Steve L
It's bollocks from BK! We need to be playing in Europe in order to further our redevelopment. The more varied experience we get the more we should improve until we hit the CL again and put up a better show than last time. As already said earlier, the higher we finish in the league, the more we make. With the upcoming dosh that Sky will be paying out there will be a kitty available for players so we can improve the team and make European progress. So, shut the fuck up Bill, you nob! Put up or shut up!
Bluetrip
Big Bill has apparently said that qualifying for the UEFA Cup is not worth the hassle as the rewards are little and it will only activate player bonuses. Business sense or lack of ambition? Are you sure this was a direct quote? Cos you know how the media like to put a spin on something for a headline. For all his faults (and I would prefer someone with money take his place), Kenwright is true fan, I can't see him saying this. It's true about the monetary rewards, Allerdyce told the press during their UEFA group stage there's no money in it till you reach the quarters. That said, European football obviously raises a clubs profile which in turn attracts top European talent who want to do the same. This benefit far outways any small loss plus on top of all that and most important of all it gives us all something to shout about.

Think BK you numpty! last season each place in the league was worth £500,000 with the 1st place getting £30m this season the 1st place gets £42.5m, 20th gets £30m, roughly £625,000 for each place my wording isnt the best there, but im sure you understand
Pat
Just got off Ph to me Dad, & he brought this up...& said, well when the likes of Arteta & Cahill leave & say they are ambitious...Then who could blame them? Deffo not our chairman.
SimonButtle
Its not a priority compared to the champions league but we are nowhere near top four material yet, so it is a priority for us now
BLUE-TAC
last season each place in the league was worth £500,000 with the 1st place getting £30mthis season the 1st place gets £42.5m, 20th gets £30m, roughly £625,000 for each place Cheers for that, thought it was somethin like that. So surely it's worth finishing 6th for the extra £625k rather than 7th. Here's a good'un-can anyone put a figure on how much the uefa would cost us if say we went out before quater stages? Surely not much more than £625k. It's short-sighted simple as that cos he's not lookin at the spin-offs that come with european footie. It adds to our players value in the evnt of selling, it raises our profile, it makes us more attractive to buy in to as an investment and sponsership and players would be more attracted to us.
