  1. GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL CARSLEY!!! LUCKY BASTARDS WITH THE INJURY TIME GOAL
  2. Useless!!! why can't we close out a game, wasted chances, hung on too much and neville helps in an equaliser.
  3. don't talk shite!!! no way will vaughan be starting a premiership match this weekend! I don't see him starting a Premiership match in November let alone this weekend. Yakubu will be playing and so will Cahill.

    Luton

line up is: Wessells Jags Stubbs Lescott Valente Osman Carsley Neville Pienaar Mc Fadden Anichebe Subs: Gravesson, Howard, Cahill, Yakubu, Vaughan back to that horrible centre midfield partnership of neville and carsley I thought Gravesson would have started with carsley or neville in the middle to give him some match practise. leaving Arteta out is fair enough and Yobo, both play nearly every game so could do with a break. Hopefully Vaughan gets a good half hour.
  5. yes i admit it i watched on telly and I know you can't completely go on that but it was VERY CLEARLY QUIET a lot of the time, when you can hear a lot of individuals you know there's not a lot of crowd noise going on! the commentators also commented several times about how quiet it was. the noises of discontent when lescott very slowly brought the ball forward as well as a few times when the defenders passed it amongst themselves were very clear. I'm sure had i been at the game i wouldn't have said what I said but those were my observations from watching the game on telly.
  6. after watching the UEFA cup game on Thursday I was appalled by the noise of the crowd. I don't know if maybe the fans were dissapointed because we weren't punting it up the field to the opposition like we usually do and we were making slow build up form defence but the crowd wasn't just quiet you could actually here fans muttering while watching it on the telly. I thought they were playing resonably well, better than we have done in previous games and trying to play decent build up football but the fans didn't seem to like it. Similarly after we let in a goal to make it 2-1 there's was no cheering the players on and only really murmerings of discontent. the players panic wasn't being helped by the attitude they were feeling form the crowd. If that table is anything to by though then great stuff and hopefully we can push our way to the top.
  7. i think the difference with our 4-5-1 on Thursday was that we had Cahill and Osman in the middle who are both very attacking midfield players who will back up the striker. I don't think mcfadden is a player suited to being up there by himself, Anichebe I think would be as he's strong enough to take people on and also to hold the ball up. I think when we did well with a 4-5-1 previously it was because Cahill was always there backing up the lone striker, hopefully now he's back we'll have that option again as well as still trying to improve our game with a 4-4-2.

i'd give you 100/1 on vaughan starting, he'll definatley not start in an important UEFA cup game when not fully fit and not played any games all season. I doubt Moyes will even have him on the bench, with yakubu, mcfadden and anichebe all available to play Vaughan won't get a look in for this game. If anything he'll get some time on the field in the Carling Cup next week. i expect to see some action from cahill tomorrow though it may only be as sub depending on how confident moyes is about his fitness, no point rushing him if he's not fully fit. We must win this game though, we've been lucky in getting the 2 games we need to win first, larissa and nurenburg are the two easier of the 4 games and if we win them then were virtually through.
  9. that looks like a 5-3-2 to me! 3 defenders, 2 defenders in front of them, 1 defensive midfielder in front of him. at least we'd be tight at the back i guess!
  10. a local hero to us guerns mate! was disguested that he played for Liverpool legends (pah! ) when they came over here (Guernsey) last month. Only one half admiteldy, he played for the local side in the other half but even still, no need to go breaking his loyalty now! still got the touch but no pace any more, then again same could be said for most of the red shites playing, Rush, Barnes etc. Most influencial players were the young but average ones! I don't know how good his predictions are but he comes across pretty well on the Sky Sports News scores and stuff.
  11. craccer are you calling him racist because he or more likely the web page editors or someone else miss spelt a black players name? my word, your either joking your way too caught up in this PC malarky!!!
  12. maybe blue is refering to the point that if gerrard keeps up "THAT" form the it puts him in great sted from our point of view for the derby. I only saw the last half hour which was pretty dull but lescott did ok while not having to defend much and got up resonably well. why gerrard didn't take a shot when he had the chance after rooney had put him through baffles me, is he left or right footed? i always thought he could strike with both but if his right is any good then he could have easily scored with that chance when he turned the defender. Joe Cole looked outstanding, great skills but also a lot of strength as they were often blocking him off after he'd played the ball through but he'd muscle his way through to keep going. I personally hope lescott doesn't play as it'll give him a break before the derby, the match today should boost his confidence and put him in good spirits for the game Saturday. I don't see him starting on Wednesday, he'll more than likely move barry to left back and go with one of the regular choices as centre. Lescott will probably be on the bench. good stuff from McFadden again, hopefully he can carry it into the weekend and beyond. Hopefully Scotland can knock out one of the big guns after some excellent performances.
  13. lol, crisis! 4th in the league, lost 1 game and drew a few that they were expected to win. 4 draws, 2 wins and 1 loss since they thrashed Derby on 1st September. Everton, 10th in league we've had 3 losses, 3 wins and a draw. doesn't matter how they go into the derby, it's a whole different game from the ones before it. as we've shown them before when we'ver been struggling.
  14. I feel that a lot of people are overrating Nurenburg and underrating Larissa and Zenit. Luckily we have both of those tough games at home. Nurenburg are next to bottom in their league and haven't won at home yet this season (admitedly only 9 games in). Bar last season they had finished low down in the bottom half for quite some time. They seem to have settled back into that this season. Zenit on the other hand are equal top of the Russian league with Spartak Moscow with only 4 games to go, they have won the Russian cup a couple of times in the last few years and made it the quarter finals of the UEFA cup last season and their manager is Dick Advocaat the former Holland and South Korea manager. Larissa beat blackburn and while Blackburn may not have played to their potential, we have close games with them every season and equally don't exactly excel when we need to. this won't be an easy game. I hope to go to the AZ game but it seems like so many people are planning on going, most of which have a better chance of getting tickets than me and in their tiny 22,000 seater I don't fancy my chances!
  15. 3-2 loss, that extra goal makes it sound respectable but letting in 3 is the main problem, surely Owne shouldn't be beating our defenders too a header in the box??
  16. 3-2! shay given own goal from arteta cross
  17. 3-1 now. owen scores yak brought on for the last couple, toio little too late.
  18. one more now to put as ahead of the redshites before the derby!

nothing to say to be honest, i'd rather have been watching us playing football like them but oh well, what can i say? WERE THROUGH!!!

WTF is going on??? Why has Baines been dropped to then bench? Baines is the most creative and forward thinking defender we had and his crosses could cause them all sorts of trouble. not to mention he can defend very well. line up as much as they've told us: Howard Yobo Lescott Stubbs Jags/Neville Piennar Osman Arteta Jags/Neville Yakubu McFadden Johnson is still out. Bench: Wessels, Baines, Hibbert, Valente, Anichbe, Jutkiewicz, Carsley bit of a suprise with Baines but the rest is no suprise. Shame Johnson isn't fit enough for the bench, midfield is resonable with 3 attack minded players, hopefully Osman can get involved just behind the strikers.
  21. Man U going out to Coventry!
  22. looks like AJ's preparing the half time drinks from now on then! good on him taking his chance in the side.
  23. another creativity devoid line up! what i'm dissapointed with is that we've rested baines and yobo but replaced them with old players when usually we give the likes of Boyle a game. dissapointed VDM isn't in there but obviously as mentioned in the VDM thread in general discussion, he's not been working hard enough with the reserves.
