I would assume that, if we are looking at him, we are looking at his attributes and potential, rather than how polished he is at 23. Does he have the tools to be a very good player? In what I've seen of him, he looks like he has bags of potential, but that he's a bit rough around the edges. If we brought him in and helped to refine his game, he could become a valuable member of the XI or a valuable commodity on the market. Either way, for 7-8m (if there's truth to that price), we should be snapping him up.

He used to really make me nervous, but the way he's started commanding his area, looking unafraid, catching every cross he can get to and charging down long balls/through balls coming into his box has made me start trusting him a lot more. I think the skill set has always been there, but the mentality hasn't. But, he's calm, confident and perfectly competent out there now. So, we don't need to be in a rush to sign a new number one just yet. I think we should ride our luck with him for the rest of the season and see where he gets us.

I feel like Palace is getting a crazy good deal there, if that price is accurate. He'd be excellent here as Baines' backup and, at that price, is certainly worth it.

I, for one, would love to see it. It would be massive for the club on the field and off. It all depends upon whether or not Koeman would even want him, whether or not Rooney would be willing to take the pay cut and new role and whether or not the club sees this as a viable move. Those are all big question marks. But, I would be thrilled if all three were met in the affirmative and he returned.
