I think we lead all European clubs in press reports claiming we lost out on players.

Doesn't sound like a guy seeking or anticipating a transfer anytime soon.

He has according to sources in Italy, to whom Honda obviously gives interviews detailing his thoughts and motives all the time.

For what it's worth to you guys, Timmy is quickly becoming a fan favorite here in New York. He's been our best midfielder by a longshot and has scored some crucial goals. Plus the corner flag celebration is alive and well.

Only Torres could score two goals in the first half and manage to look mediocre.

I'm like 90% sure those are fake. Look at the patch. It looks like a photoshop job.

Klinsmann said literally like a month ago that Timmy is the undisputed #1 and the backbone of the defense. He'd have to really screw up for Klinsmann to consider anyone else.

Huh? The U.S. isn't even taking part in this year's Confederation's Cup.

This is completely besides the point. We're not debating the amount of time that should be put into the search; I don't think anyone wants a knee-jerk decision. But a search that starts in late March and ends in late May is very different from a search that starts in early May and ends in mid June. Manchester United collectively said - okay - there's a very good chance that Fergie isn't returning. Let's begin our search for a new manager well before he actually has to be implemented. Man City almost certainly, even before they decided to definitely sack Mancini, researched potential replacements. Again, I can't say FOR SURE, but I think it's a safe inference based on what has been said by both the team and the media that the board never really even started so much as preliminary preparations for a potential Moyes departure until his move to Man U was all but official. This isn't a one or the other thing. We could have a manager by the end of the weekend with it still being well-researched and carefully thought out if the search started before the tail-end of the season. Do I know for sure when the search started? No. I'm giving my opinion based on how I'm reading the situation. I personally think that, based on evidence provided, that the board sat on their thumbs oblivious to the fact that Moyes leaving was a very realistic, if not inevitable, scenario.

Bleacher report is literally everything bad about American sports "journalism." They bring random people with no journalism experience but like sports and want to write about it, hand them 10 bucks a month, and give them storylines to write random crap about. One of their favorite things to do is have different people write contradicting articles; I guarantee you'll see a "Why Klinsmann is a good fit for Everton" or "Why Klinsmann to Everton Makes Sense" or something similar on their website soon, if it hasn't been published already. I personally wouldn't bet any money on Klinsmann being the guy but Bleacher Report is pretty much the last source to trust in that regard.

With all of the (warranted) drama that needs to be addressed: New Manager, lack of European football, transfers, rumors, etc. etc. etc. I would just like to dedicate a thread that is separate from all of that. I joined the forum this season and it was by far the most in detail I have followed the EPL and Everton. The community here has been great in welcoming people like me, explaining history of the club and other aspects of the team and ultimately making me feel like part of the group. So thanks for being an excellent group of guys and I can't wait to have laughs and talk about Everton with you all in the future!

Using this logic, why would Man U hire Moye? After all, they've "seen what he can do" and it's not get into the CL.

The answer is, obviously, because it's comparing apples to oranges. What Moyes can do in Man U culture and economy is different from what he can do in Everton culture and economy. To make the conclusion that Everton would finish 17th simply because Wigan has been finishing around there is pretty incomplete logic. Even more skeptical is the logic of, "we have no idea what Stubbs could do, maybe it's Europe!" Yeah. Well same could be said about me if I became manager. Doesn't mean it would be a good move. We need someone who has some experience and not a sentimental, nostalgic pick.

"Let's be realistic here," says the guy who is lobbying for the idea that a guy with 0 first-team coaching experience will lead us to Europe.
