Barkley been an absolute disgrace this first half. How many times has he given the ball away? It's not the fact that he loses possession that annoys me most though, it's his casual jogging back after a mistake like he can't be bothered to work back. Sort it out Ross. You're 22 now, not a 17 year old kid.

Oztoffee got a reaction from StevO in Now Martinez has gone, who should get the nod...
Honest to God, we have to sort another manager out quickly though because if we leave it too long after Martinez's departure current players will be looking to go elsewhere.
We have to get a manager with some credentials if we are to attract players to the club. A 'going nowhere' club with a 'done nothing' manager will ensure that we remain 'also rans' in the Prem. To be taken seriously management needs to secure someone with credentials, to show we mean business.
I've assumed that Martinez will be going, perhaps at the end of the season if not sooner as we can't afford to be discussing this again next season as we did with Moyes for a number of years while the management dragged it's collective feet.
We need a new face with new ideas, getting the players back real early, getting them fit, drilling the defence and organising various plays to suit various scenarios (plan B, C and D!). Stop these annual pre-season shit games with Bury, Preston, Rhyl, Tranmere etc. and get some real opposition. Martinez's World Cup pundit scenario screwed this club to the extent that we're still paying for it.
Time for a change of outlook for this club. Get rid of 'the plucky underdogs' shit, 'punching above their weight' shit. If you want something to happen, you have to change things to make it happen. FFS let's get professional and do away with the 'that'll do attitude' that we've had to endure since Howard Kendall' departure. We need Joe's 'dogs of war' attitude to get management moving. Hopefully the new boss will assert some authority here and lose Bill's loyalty outlook (laudable though it is in certain circumstances) that has kept us in the 2nd tier....sliding to 3rd tier of Prem clubs.
It is an unhappy fact that Kenwright alone is responsible for an awful lot of what has happened in the last 20 years in this club. His refusal to sack managers at times where other clubs would have had them gone for years has taken this club into the mess it is now.
Moyes should have gone 3/4 years earlier, but Bill procrastinated for so long that the decision was taken out of his hands. Martinez should have gone 2 months into last season, yet here we are hoping he will be gone this season. A 'let's give him till Christmas' scenario should not even be on their minds behind the doors at Goodison at the moment.
I sincerely hope that the new boss with his past experience will see what has been going on here and fix it fast.

Not so many moons ago most thought that Stones could walk on water. A stupid error on either his or his agent's part (transfer request) and a few below par games and the knives are out.
What a pathetic bunch of arrogant pricks some are. All this 'I could see two years ago that he was crap' shit and many are only too willing to re-watch every game he played to find an error in order to say "I told you so'.
The lad ('cos that's what he is) has had his world collapse around him and he will eventually be stronger for it but he needs support not a crowd baying for his head. I wonder if there's an element of 'Tall Poppy Syndrome' around Goodison, where because some people are so angry that their lives are so shit will take any opportunity to make other's lives as shit as theirs? And the taller the poppy, the more they want it cut down.
Players do not ever, I mean ever, become bad players overnight and deserve the wrath of the great unwashed. Sure, they lose form or confidence or have to change the way they have been encouraged to play because a new manager has new and different ideas but they are still good players.
I honestly feel that Stones has 'new manager syndrome' and is uncomfortable with the new setup. That may or may not change any time soon but until Stones gets his mojo back he needs support, not bollockings from a hostile crowd. FFS folks get off the lad's back because if he's forced out we'll get to see him excel in another shirt and still be England's captain.
Move on people, there are far more things to be concerned about right now than an early hiccup in what will be an exemplarary career. I just hope it's with us because if the fans get on his back too much, he will move. And we will regret it for a long time.

Oh dear. This really is sad..... makes us seem petty.
I remember there is/was a small but quite upmarket grocery shop in Napier, New Zealand called MacDonald's. Been so for donkey's years, and yes they got sued. There was a little sandwich bar inPalmerston North called Harrods. Owned by a bloke called Harrods as was the MacDonald's owned by a MacDonald Didn't make any difference.... they got sued too! Made the big blokes look absolutely stupid.

Hoping to start a football academy in China with part government backing and he's got the right contacts.Been seen around with the top footy blokes in the country and the people who hold the purse strings.

I thought that well before the Watford game.
I actually didn't want us to sign him after his loan. Yes he scored goals that season but his overall play is very flawed. When he doesn't score goals he offers us next to nothing and is unbelievably lazy.

I don't think it's the manager who is lumbered with persisting with him. Too many fans got far too excited by him and our need to sign a big striker that they have missed critiquing him properly. There's kinda this "love is Blind" thing going on. Like a parent who has a naughty child.... "Oh its not his fault he's tired, he's lowon blood sugar" when inn actual fact the need a good bollocking.

Oztoffee got a reaction from Toffee_in_LA in Seamus Coleman
Can't believe some of you want to sell him. Apart from the fact that he occupies the one position in the team that we already have no back-up for, he's arguably the best in the Prem.
So you are proposing that we sell Coleman, have no back-up and have to bring in another player ,2 really, who of necessity would cost less (because we're having to buy 2 players) and thereby must not be as good and so weaken the squad?
What is the upside to this?
If the lad really wants to go, then go he must, but it's absolute madness to sell just because some twat team offers attractive cash for him just because they can. There has to be something in any deal that is good for both sides........this deal does not in any way favour the seller.
If we had 2 more backs on the books that are capable, and one can step up; great! But we haven't. Let's get some common sense into this thread FFS!

If his agent has Garbutt's best long-term interest at heart he'd advise him to accept. However, Greedy gutter-rats and bottom-feeders as they are, they have only their best interest at heart.
How refreshing it would be if players could sue their agents for giving them bad advice!

Oztoffee got a reaction from Gwlad in Sunderland (Home)
Did I see the same game? Yes we were all over them like a rash, but FFS you still need to want to win, and we didn't. We were ineffectual in their penalty area nobody wanted to run at them, nobody seriously had a good attempt at trying to penetrate the bus they parked in their area. And most of all, Sunderland were the more entertaining side. We were dire and made Sunderland look good. We only came to life after their first goal, why do we do this all the time? We coast along at half speed and half-arsed until we're one down and then we come out to play....too F'in late! We don't play like that against the better teams, we're in from the kick-off: so why do we play so crap and seemingly without a plan against the lower-ranked sides?
I'm so over this shit, Martinez makes Moyes look really good.
Don't tell me it's the players' fault either, it's the manager's job to motivate the team and here he has failed as nobody else has who has managed the blues.

Sick as a dog over this shit. My wife says I should support another team(!) I can't do that but this crap they're dealing out will send me to an early grave. I'm 68, so I can't afford to watch any more of this half-inspired, sideways, don't give a shit attitude by players who are paid way above their talent.

Oztoffee got a reaction from markiediow in Roberto Martinez to be sacked?
I think that those who oppose his going should look at the bigger picture. If Roberto stays you have to understand that if we're relegated (and it's quite possible) we play in the Championship. The TV rights from the Prem are lost. We couldn't afford to pay the players the same as they are now and would probably lose 8 or 10 of the squad. On that basis we'd be in the second tier for a considerable time and perhaps end up like many of the 2 seasons up and one down teams like QPR, Palace and Hull.
So be very careful how you look at this question, it's the whole immediate future of the club at stake here, not just "give Bobby a go until the end of the season". There may not be a next season (in the Prem)or for some time afterwards. Would you bet your house on the premise that Bobby will pull us through? You're asking the board to do just that.
    LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE>>>>PLEASE!!

Haha...It seems the easier option sometimes!

Didn't see any of the game, so won't insult those who did by trying to surmise anything.

All I can do is look at the stats (not the be all and end all of a game I know!) and wonder what we are doing with 75% possession? I'm a massive fan of the way we play but it has to be effective. And Palace, 3 shots on target...3 goals?! Was that felt by those watching?!

I thought we would do this one. Even with changes. I thought there was more than enough in that starting 11 to get 3 points.

But I guess this weekend shows why the Premiership is THE No.1 league in the world....West ham 3 - Liverpool 1, Spurs 0 - WBA 1, Leicester 5 - Utd 3...and this.

It's going to be another tight run for most of the season.

All in all a good result, but I fear we would have lost against a better side. For the last 15 mins we sat back as usual and let them into the game. Coleman especially let the left wide open and W.Brom should have taken advantage....and they did. It was only their inept finishing that saved us really. Mirallas didn't track back which was the start of the problem, we just made it easier for them by standing off 5 yards or more and giving them the opportunity to cross. FFS I was coaching 10 year olds not to do that. It happened so many times I thought it was part of the match plan in latter part of the game!
2-0 was a fair result on the day, but we have a shit-load of work to do yet in defence and tracking back. Glad to see McGeady has heeded the message in that respect, leaves Mirallas really I guess!
