I'd argue that the defense performing well was not in spite of dyche...but more likely because of him. One of the things I don't like about Dyche is that he sets up not to lose. How many times have we complained about us facing shitty (on paper) teams at home and not going for it.
We are also top 5 in most defensive categories (clean sheets, fouls against, offsides, interceptions etc)..you can't tell me that none of that is prepared for on the training ground.
    My summary is:
    1. Dyche should get credit for the winning streak and the defensive performance
    2. He should carry the blame for the losing streak, regardless of external circumstances
    3. At most clubs he probably should've been sacked for going so long without a win. Possibly our board gave him the benefit of the doubt or possibly we couldn't afford to change management staff again AND thought the 3 promoted clubs are so shite we will prob be okay.
  2. Thanks

Put it this way - it's debatable and you would get many managers who would choose branthwaite over any of them when you consider his potential, current levels and his 2 amazing feet which has him as a left sided centre half.

Branthwaite has made tarkowski up his game .  Quality quality player who will be a very very regrettable sale.

Personally I'd rank Micky Van Der Ven (sp) and Ruben Dias higher.  Id reluctantly say VVD is still better also.

I'd argue branth is more important to us than the others are to their teams tho.
I hope we keep him for years to come!

what is the best defence based on ? clean sheets (Arsenal were best), Goals Conceded (think we were 4th best even without Chelsea goals)

This is my personal view on Dyche's perfomance for season 23/24. And what I think could happen for season 24/25.
Overall, and I really mean overall despite a much too long run without wins and piss poor football, he did what was expected of him; keeping us in top flight and trying to create some sort of stability. More on that later. Beating The Shite was a much welcomed bonus.

Noone is going to claim that Dyche is a top manager, not even a ginger Guardiola, dunlopp, you twat. Dyche, to me, did what he was able to do and I thank him and the players for that. God forbid we should play in The Championship.
I think it's quite clear that we still have stability issues, but there will always be things that needs adjusting etc. Thing is though, our stability issues are a bit more than just the players, coaches and the manager getting it right. It's the whole club and it goes back much further than some of you are willing to admit. Rotten boardmembers, questionable decisions and a disillusioned owner who should never have been one in the first place. Things that have hurt our club and hearts and that we now pay and have paid for.

Stability is often a somewhat slow process because other factors play in, and then there are the things you just can't control as a manager or player like point deductions and uncertainty about availible funds to strengthen the squad. And on top on that there's the whole 777 Partners charade. Can only say I was very pleased not to see Josh Wander's stupid face and baseball cap when we played (and won) Sheff. Utd.
Fuck me, we've been through a lot and it's not over yet.
The big question for season 24/25 is ownership and how much we're able/allowed to spend on transfers and contracts. If we're able to get a solid owner I think we should thank Dyche for his work and look for another manager. If we're not then I think we should keep Dyche unless there are better options till things have changed for the better and that we can afford it.
I'm no fan of Dyche-ball when you don't have the team for it and sometimes it really hurts me to see how ugly and boring we can be because of that. 40 points is really not good, 48 points is under the circumstances ok. What a weird season where 30 points would've been enough, eh. Thank some god it's over.

Without the drama of the points deductions he'd served up the exact season I was hoping for in the summer - a boring, mid-table, nothingness of a season.

Yeah I think people are mixing up the 2. Media Rights are the ones who need to give blessing…unless the person willling to buy pays off their debt outright. Then it’s a non issue. For anyone wanting to buy the club but not pay off the debt immediately then Media Rights can veto. That was my understanding before 777 process started.

other that the fact that you have purchased an appreciating asset.
In 10 years time you asset is likely to be worth £350k -£400k.
key is being able to service the debt on the repayment plan agreed.
i am guessing 777's difficulties will be the short term until they generate the revenues they hope to be able achieve.

He could also look at Stones as something of a cautionary tale - yes he earned a boatload and won trophies but he never left his mark on the game in the same way those you mentioned did - he was talked about as the next Moore / Becoenbauer and he never came close. That said I'm sure he's not crying into his bank or trophy cabinet!!!

Yesterday was the first time I’ve taken my Daughter to Goodison. It had me thinking about memories of the place and I thought I’d start a thread about our memories of Goodison Park.

Yesterday I asked a steward on our way into the upper Gwladys to take a photo of us for her first game. He said ok but follow me, and he took us into the lower tier and took a photo of us with the pitch right behind us. He didn’t have to do that, but it made it special. Even though it was crap on the pitch, it’s a memory I’ll never forget.

I don’t remember my first game, but I remember being 2-0 up against Leeds, sat in the Lower Bullens and my Dad shouting at a Leeds fan “2 down against ten men are ya” 😂 My Dad isn’t a shouter, doesn’t really get aggressive, so it’s always stood out in my mind.

Digging up the centre spot with my hands after either the Wimbledon or Coventry game, I can’t remember which, and putting handfuls of pitch in my coat pocket. Then when I got home they went in a bowl on my bedroom window. A couple of weeks later it smelt so bad my Mum threw it in the bin.

Beating Arsenal 1-0 with a late Andy Johnson goal in the rain and hail. Beating Arsenal 3-0 with Martinez. I love us beating Arsenal, it’s not personal, but it kind of makes up for all of the dickings we’ve had over the years.

Me and my mate saying at half time against Palace we will get Dele shirts if he comes on and keeps us up. We didn’t get those shirts. Dele kept up his side of the bargain.

The man I’ve sat next to for the last 15+ years telling me a few months ago that he wants to sit next to me when we move to Bramley-Moore. In all these years we’ve never asked each others name, we probably never will, but I’ve hugged him a thousand times. I hope he’s sat next to me when we move too.

For the ladies derby in a few weeks I’ve got tickets for the whole family. We’ll have three generations together at Goodison, hopefully not for the last time. I’m going to buy Everton shirts for everyone though. Got to make these memories while we can.

Quite emotional thinking about the place. I’d love to hear some of your memories, some of you will have many more than me and will have seen some trophies too.

As far as I know the season runs from August to May, but if you want to talk about an arbitrary run of games, how about the twelve immediately before those three months?
In those three months we had an 8-1-3 record, twenty-five points, nearly 2.1 ppg which over the season (to date) would put a team staying at that level on seventy-three points, above Liverpool.
Five games since the bad spell? Twelve points at 2.4 ppg, that over thirty-five games would put a team on eighty-four, strong title favourites.
The whole season thus far, again leaving out the thirteen game run (but including the crap start)...12-2-8, just over 1.7 ppg giving a very respectable total of sixty points with three to play (we qualified for the CL with 61), and an almost certain European place.
None of all that is particularly relevant of course, because the season takes thirty-eight games, but it's all just as relevant as the winless streak some can't make a post without referencing.
If you want to be down in the dumps about a third of a season then fair enough, go for it, but following the same logic we should be dancing in the streets about the other two thirds
And we're not, because we're being realistic.

If a team loses three or four positions in the table due to PSR, lets say lost out on £10M. Can you offset that in this year's accounts?
Or will the PL make the argurement that Everton should have forseen that PL are a bunch of corrupt fuckers!

Honestly I can't stand the man, but I will give credit where credit is due. Our performances (at times) have been shit largely due to him and his tactics/selections and his subs strategy....BUT what he has had to deal with would have crushed most managers.

Think how frustrating it has been for us as fans - the points deductions, the takeover farce, the annoyance at the hidden truths in our financials....he's had to put up with the same shit only he can't have just have a good moan about it, he's still got to perform.
So while I don't like him one bit, I will tip the hat and say he's done a good job in spite of everything.

Yes, the vote that was passed was really just an agreement to change the current system. I believe they need to discuss various proposals at their summer meeting (for implementation in 25/26).

At one point in the not so distant past, our form and performances were so dire, that having enough points left to play for was not really a motivating factor. The collective shit show from the 3 promoted teams is the main reason the corrupt PL didn't get their way.
