  1. He can't do any worse than Jelavic did last season so the jury's out for me until he actually signs and then a few balls are kicked and he either hits the back of the net or Row Z (that's a Zed not a Zee)
  2. I'm comforting myself with all the "was" and hope there won't be any "will be". I wish him all the best, too..... as long as it's in Turkey.
  3. Confederation Cup Final - Brazil vs Spain - Lawrenson compared the atmosphere and noise level in The Maracana to Anfield.................. I remain speechless..........
  4. Nice one Steve but it sounds like the stuffed shirts (and pockets) at the FA are preparing for every eventuality and are waiting for the opportunity to boot Doncaster Belles out completely. Can't have that riff-raff making a scene, can we! The FA said in statement published on Saturday: "The decision by the selection panel not to offer the club an FA WSL1 licence was due primarily to them being unable to satisfactorily meet minimum facility requirements, alongside further concerns on their commercial and marketing strategies. "The FA would also like to confirm that the licence offer to compete in The FA WSL2 next season is still open to the club, subject to licence criteria that still need to be met."
  5. Signed - wish you well with this, too
  6. "At present, Arsenal are refusing to meet Fellaini’s £100,000-per-week wage demands and are also reluctant to meet the £24m release clause." OK, the above is from The Daily Mail today - but, in view of above posts about release clause expiring, Wenger may also be aware of that so what are the chances he thinks he can brow beat us to <£20m, which would give them 1 year's wages for Fellaini? Something stinks and it's not me, for a change!
  7. The FA aren't corrupt at all. The Women's Super League will have two divisions next season. Doncaster Belles have been in the top flight of women's football for 22 years. The FA have decided they'll be in division 2 next year, because; "The FA decided which teams should play in each division via an independent panel that assessed clubs on their financial sustainability, with factors such as management, marketing and the quality of coaching staff and facilities considered" So, your business plan is shite and we don't like your staff. You're fired! And who will they be replaced by............ "The club will be replaced in the top flight by newcomers Manchester City Ladies." Where's good old Sepp when you need him!?
  8. It was Ruddy's contract, not his handshake, that was the problem. His contract was the same as Thomas Myhre in that we will have had to pay Cambridge Utd (in Ruddy's case) 'x' pounds for every 'so many' games he played. In Myhre's case we had to pay about £250k(?) to his old club for every 'x' number of games he played. So, when he was approaching playing the agreed number of games he, too, was farmed out 'on loan' until we had the money to have him back so he could play for us and we could pay his old club. Ruddy's only game (I was there) was also by fluke, as a very early sub against Blackburn because Iain Turner (3rd choice) was sent off for handling outside the area and he was only playing because Martyn & Gerrard were injured. So Moyes put Ruddy in, he played a blinder when he had to, we won 1-0 and Ruddy was never seen again because we didn't have the money for the clause in his contract which said we have to pay Cambridge, as well as him, when he plays. I think a lot of clubs arrange contracts like this - it's just that we've never had the money to fulfill them, as others do, and sadly we don't get the benefit of seeing what, in Ruddy's case, have been some very fine performances.
  9. I hate this 'sport'. I hate this tournament. I hate everybody who is involved with it - even the ball boys and girls (ball people?). I hate the old balls. I hate the new balls. I hate the net. I hate the umpires and the umpires chairs. I hate the crowd. I hate the strawberries and cream. I hate the people who rent their houses out to the players, 'celebrities', etc for the two weeks this pile of shite is in progress. I hate it all, including the bits I can't be arsed to mention. It is irrelevant. I feel much the same about rugby.
  10. We've played in it but I don't think we won it and it's not always the 'top' sides who are in it, I think, so I'll go for; Chelsea (already done), Spurs, Blackburn and Newcastle
  11. 28 : 15 reds and whatever colours to make the other 13 points (1 black & 1 pink, 2 blues & 1 green........) Once all reds are gone opponent can only then score maximum 27, without successful snookers, by potting all remaining colours
  12. He certainly played like one when he was with us. Over 100 games I would think? Tougher and braver than most.
  13. I would love to see this guy playing for Everton. Buy him regardless of what Fellaini decides to do.
  14. I hope he doesn't go to Arsenal because I don't want Arteta back, although don't think it would happen. I hope he doesn't go to City because I don't want Rodwell back, that would be a possibilty. He can go to Chelsea or Man Utd - if Man Utd a player for player with Rooney will do and if Chelsea we'll just have the £24m, thank you.
  15. Yes, 1987 - was living in Birmingham at the time, had moved there with a previous employer back end of 1981, lots of Scousers/blues moved at same time so 5 of us went. Wouldn't say Wimbledon outplayed us, they definitely out-muscled us, route 1 stuff on a tiny pitch. Paul Wilkinson got our goal 1-3
  16. Wealth, success and achievement by association....... that's part of it. What the hell do these people do for the other 50 weeks of the year? Went to Plough Lane when they knocked us out of the cup. Dump!
  17. That is the basis, I suppose, yes. Add the pretentious, condescending attitude particularly of the commentators not only towards the 'fans' but also towards anyone, including the players (some of who are very skilful, it's not their fault Wimbledon is operated and supported by such sycophantic luvvies and pseudo-luvvies) giving the impression they almost live with the likes of Federer, Nadal............... NNNNNNYYYYYAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I hate it! Truly, gut-wrenchingly, despise it!
  18. Wimbledon tennis tournament, the commentators on it, the fans who go there and the fans who take time off work to 'live' it. Reasons - way too many to go. Hate is a strong word. I don't hate many things but I hate this with a passion and everything it and they stand for.
  19. That's just madness! Increasing the width of the pitch brings about far-reaching health & safety concerns. How the hell would someone be able to send a little, big, dinked, whipped, cheeky, curled corner over with a sogging wet casey over the extra distance? All corner takers would needs ankles, knees, thighs and an arse on them like Hulk. And then there's the poor fucker who's got to head it! Broken neck and/or brain damage in an instant. No, it's not that!
  20. Just a guess, I'll go for free-kick as the starting point for the other two is off the field of play. Edit - still free-kick but because the restart of play follows a foul (a sub can take a penalty)?
  21. Fromm BBC Sport, this morning; Norwich are competing with Everton for Wigan striker Arouna Kone. The 29-year-old Ivory Coast international's contract has a £5m buy-out clause. Full story: Daily Mail Here's the link to the Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2347007/Arouna-Kone-wanted-Everton-Norwich.html
  22. Anyone who pimps his ride by putting pink wheels, pink leather seats and a pink steering wheel on a black Range Rover because his chav trophy girlfriend likes pink and then has them put in Hello or OK magazine has behavioural issues. Anyone who relaxes by tugging on the bong while he's not playing and posting pictures of himself doing it on Twitter clearly has behavioural issues, is unprofessional and has no respect for the fans or sponsors who help to pay his wages. It also shows he has no respect for himself. He's also shite and lightweight at his job. So, that will be a "No" from me.
  23. Duckmarine company now in administration.... or should that be duckministration? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-23009846
  24. I don't. I was making a wild, irrational statement, based on stereotyping tree hugging hippies. Why? Because I can. At least the drug dealers amongst them should be sub-contracting.
  25. I think we're hoping for a bit of a discount on this one, in case of a risk with that knee.
