Cake reacted to MikeO in Drenthe - to become a Royal?
Specially if you're a woman in Reading who looks like a Swedish beach volleyball player .

As long as he can keep his nose clean (!) and every woman in Reading looks like a Russian shot putter he'll do alright and might just bag you those 15 goals promised.
You're in for some entertainment, one way or another.

Cake got a reaction from Bailey in Martinez confirmed as new manager
From the press conference:
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright: "When David [Moyes] first came to see me, he sat down, and we were in a bad state. First words, he said we are not going down. Roberto's first words, he will get us in the Champions League. He had obviously studied the football club and recognised what David Moyes has achieved.
"But he sat and talked to me and showed me how he beat Manchester City at Wembley. I went to that game, sat among the crowd, to look at Roberto.
"He understands the game and Everton. He told us about our history and what he wanted to do. It was a terrific meeting. All I can tell you is, when you know, you know."
"I'll give him a few quid to sign a few players. We all know the situation at Everton, we all know that there are players with release clauses but they are not for sale.
"We don't want them to go. Not one person had even half-indicated to me that the change will mean a change for them - exactly the opposite, they all seem totally committed to it. I'm confident that the squad plus some Roberto signings will form the squad for next season."

Sorry....love the history of the club and appreciate Cake's post but it was the first thing that came into my head....really don't like the stuff, never have.

Cake reacted to Finn balor in Martinez confirmed as new manager
Absolutely made up today. I wasn't at first sure about Martinez due to obvious reasons but I think he is going to be a really top appointment. I know we keep going over the defence issues but lets get it right Moysie wasn't the greatest at keeping a clean sheet. With the players he has already at his disposal it should be easy to sort that out. I know there is fascination at buying Wigan players but the fella has contacts. He is a regular on La Liga programme with Giamme Ballague(?) and must have info through him regarding tons of players. I know people say nice guys finish last but I have a feeling this is gonna be a fresh approach to which the players will enjoy

Cake reacted to Hafnia in Martinez confirmed as new manager
The more astute red noses I know are secretly gutted we have got him. They think Rodgers is a phoney and Martinez the real deal.

Cake reacted to Newty82 in Martinez confirmed as new manager
Absolutely over the moon with this.
I aint really commented recently cos Haf has said everything I wanted to!!!
But loving this today. Cant wait to watch our football next season. I doubt anyone will want to leave the club with this appointment and reckon the players will be excited by the prospect of playing good, expansive, attacking football. No more sitting back after 70mins...we will go straight for the throat of every team.
At only 39, we have not seen the best of Martinez. But we are about to.

Cake reacted to Cake in Is this the new crest?
You don't think he's a hard nosed businessman because he chooses the right people to work for him, apart from at EFC. I do think he's a hard nosed businessman. That makes us quite the opposite, fortunately, and means another meaningless discussion can now gather pace.
I also think he's a great leader but, newbie or not, I'm not going to attempt to explain myself again although the desire to be liked makes me feel quite the opposite.
