Cornish Steve reacted to Matt in Liverpool
2 wrongs don't make a right. We shouldn't be stooping to their level and I for one am ashamed of Mirallas. So lucky to stay on the pitch, Dowd did us a massive favour. -
Cornish Steve got a reaction from Sibdane in Liverpool
Incidentally, my son (who, because of where he lives, had to watch the game at 5:30am in a local bar), who is a Liverpool fan, felt that this was perhaps the most entertaining game he's seen in a long while. It had everything: very open game, end-to-end play, chances galore, goals, misses, controversy, great play, frustrating play... right to the final whistle. He told me afterwards that he felt himself wanting Everton to win because, like me, he's a big fan of Martinez' style of management. He stayed a while to watch the Arsenal-Southampton game and left because, in comparison, it was so boring!

What about putting Deulofeu on for Baines? What an incredibly attacking mindset, given the context and the situation. That took guts.

He'll probably trip over as he comes out of the tunnel and break his jaw.

Cornish Steve got a reaction from Matt in England
Steven Gerrard is out of the England games due to a "minor injury." In reality, we can probably read "needs to be rested for the derby game since Suarez will be jet-lagged." Maybe Jagielka, Baines, and Barkley need to trip over a few daisies today to sustain their "minor injuries."
It's sad, really. Playing for England used to be a point of pride. Now it's an inconvenience.

Cornish Steve reacted in Arouna Kone
I seriously question some peoples sanity when they write players off after playing 80 minutes for us despite a superb season last year for Wigan and an outstanding record elsewhere. I think many members have wrote him off as he hasn't been hyped up by match of the day and other media sources or hasn't been touted as a wonder kid in his career of hasn't played at a huge club etc, these are the things that all effect peoples persona of a player naive as it may be.
I believe/know Kone is a great player and such a rounded player. He isn't just a goal poacher like Jelly or he isn't just a target man etc.
I think he is the most rounded forward we have had in years and he will do a job for us.
Are people really crying about the price still? I myself initially thought it was quite a lot to pay but when you look at it in reality we will have a bargain as I believe he is a great player.
Has anybody else suggested another forward we could have got for the same price? Anyone you can mention won't be anywhere near as a complete player as Kone is.
Maybe we should have signed Bony... He looks a great buy. Or maybe Osvaldo... Or maybe even Soldado?
Nearly £60 million spent on those three strikers who haven't done jack.
I can't understand the against Kone argument... At all. It's ludicrous. Is the argument that he missed an opportunity (marginally)?

At least he didn't let off a firework indoors and consequently set fire to his house - like this blonde guy.

Cornish Steve got a reaction from Sibdane in Shaking up the world of refereeing
Congratulations to Amy Fearn for becoming the first woman to referee an FA Cup match (albeit between two non-league teams). I couldn't help but notice that one of the assistant referees in that game was black. This begs the question: Why, in the 21st century, are almost all referees white males? It's like the world of commercial aviation: almost all pilots are white males. In some jobs, it seems, it takes an awfully long time to overcome stereotypical hiring. Maybe we need some affirmative action to allow women and minorities to break into these fields.
Plus, we need to keep holding feet to the fire - such as in the case of Andy Gray, whose comments against a female assistant referee were disgraceful.

When working with your manager, would you rather speak to him in your own native tongue, or would you rather he speak a 'strange' version of a different language? Personally, I think issues like this are important to players. Plus, we have Alcaraz, Oviedo, Deulofeu, and Robles in the squad - all Spanish speakers. If Hernandez is planning to leave ManU, Everton must represent an attractive choice. The real issue is probably wage demands.

Because that's when I learned that Suarez could miss the derby game.
Silly me. I thought that Suarez missing the derby game might be relevant to a thread about the derby game.

Hernandez and Zaha in return for Baines. It's a win-win-win-win-win scenario: Win for Martinez (life this season without Kone). Win for Moyes (he gets his man, Baines). Win for Hernandez (gets to play first-team football every week). Win for Baines (playing in the Champions League). Win for Zaha (gets to play in a first team).

I don't understand either. Kone is a good player, and he has a track record of scoring goals. It takes time to blend with a new team, and he's had few opportunities to play. Even when he did, his stats were better than most other players, no matter what the comments here. He may have missed a couple of good chances, but he created those chances in the first place. I wouldn't wish injury on anyone and am disappointed at those who are laughing at him for missing the season. Very poor form, I must say.
Aroune Kone: I for one wish you a successful operation and speedy recovery.
