Cornish Steve got a reaction from Romey 1878 in New ticketing commercial deal with StubHub
I don't see why it's greedy - if someone is willing to pay. These folks stumped up for season tickets. Those now looking for tickets could have chosen to do the same.

Why? It's the free market at work. If demand exceeds supply, then prices will rise. So be it.

Terrible, isn't it? It should be "try to beat Real Sociedad".
It must be so frustrating for Reds' fans to see expectations being set so low. They should be hearing, "we're fielding a strong team and expect to win. We are determined to finish top of our group."

i agree, SAF should never have shared details of a deal like that -

Double the salary and a manager desperate to pay whatever it takes. We could do very well out of any deal.

If, by Christmas, ManU are already out of the Champions League and in about 8th place in the league, and if Everton are in 3rd or 4th place, why would Baines want to leave? That's the best way to keep him at Everton: demonstrate success.

Interesting that some have chosen McCarthy for each game in which he's started (and I voted for him again this time). It hasn't taken long for him to demonstrate consistency and worth at Everton.

I love this comment on the BBC website: "If Southampton are to compete for a Champions League place then they really need to be beating these mid table sides."

Manchester United are desperate for quality midfielders, could easily pay 30m for a top-notch player, and the manager is personally attending a League 2 game to watch a player worth about a million? What is wrong with this picture! Other than bidding to solely to push up his price, I say let them have him. We need someone who's progressed a little more than League 2.

Cornish Steve got a reaction from Bailey in England
So why don't more English players join top teams overseas? I don't see the presence of strong international players in the EPL as a problem. It's more that our players, unlike their counterparts on the continent, prefer to be parochial, which hinders their development. Why are there no English Deulofeu's spending a year playing in the Spanish league, for example?
In the end, the argument of 'free trade' always wins. Protectionism would hurt the EPL and lower its quality.

Why is it that England has the strongest league in the world and yet has an abysmal national team? I wonder what difference it would make if as many English players played in other countries as players from overseas play in the EPL. It means we don't understand the style of play of other national teams as well as our opponents understand us. What if 50% of England's team played for clubs overseas - instead of zero of them?

I've given my views on this before. If we let the betting industry spend many millions on sponsoring teams in the league, it won't be a surprise when we learn that games are fixed - with either players or refs paid off. Of course, no one can say that without the FA banning them, but it's so obvious. No matter what the impact financially, and for the integrity of the game, no betting company must be allowed to sponsor or otherwise finance football activities.

Sunderland should be 3-0 up, and they may rue missing those chances.
