  1. Why will I not be surprised when Liverpool draw Bradford City at home in the next round.
  2. What is the service he needs for him to perform? I didn't see the Chelsea game but Lukaku had the best chance by both teams in the game. He missed. The BBC stats said he missed from 'very close range'. Some reports said that Cech made a brilliant save with his foot. The reality is that it shouldn't have been anywhere near Cech, he should have scored and we would have got a draw (or even a win if Chelsea had panicked). On the few games I have seen, he is a £5m player, certainly not a £28m player. Hope I have to eat my words by the end of the season.
  3. Maybe I missed something but did the FA rescind McCarthy's yellow card when they let Ivanovic off?
  4. When I saw that Liverpool had scored a penalty against Spurs I wished I could have got a bet on who 'earned' it. Yep, it was Sturridge. What a surprise.
  5. MikeO, a company I worked for for 30 years (which is now defunct - nothing to do with me, honest) has a website set up on Facebook. I was asked to join as I provided a lot of information for the site. I recently had contact from someone who wanted information on their pension fund from when they worked there for 10 years, 40 years ago. I was able to help so it does have its uses.
  6. Got up yesterday morning and thought it was a bit chilly. Put my hand on the radiator and it was almost cold. Went to the boiler and it was off. Tried getting it started, no luck. Phoned the guy who services our central heating and got his answer phone. Left a message and he phoned back about 9.30. He arrived at 2.00 pm and had it up and running by 3.00 pm - good guy. Had every electric appliance we have on the go but doesn't seem to make much difference. Freezing cold Monday morning. Just what you need. :shaking fist:
  7. Difficult to judge on the short cameo but he looked keen to get to the byline and get a cross in. All we need now is someone in the box who can head the ball. Naismith is a good header of the ball but doesn't seem to be getting forward as much recently.
  8. Off topic but just thought I'd mention it. I saw Leeds United beat Chelsea 2 - 0 at Elland Road in the early 1960's. Albert Johanesson scored both goals. Also saw Peter Osgood play at Elland Road in his first season at Chelsea, I think he was only about 18 at the time. Used to drink occasionally with Peter Osgood in the Red Lion at Oakley Green (nr Windsor) after he retired.
  9. Voted for Robles but could have been Besic.

    Liverpool (H)

When they showed the replay of Gerrard's overhead kick it was going straight into Robles hands until Naisy got his head to it. Our only 'on target' attempt was from a full-back. The best chance for a forward came in the first half when Lukaku played a great ball to Naismith who played a return to Lukaku who was in 15 yards of space. In trying to control it Lukaku knocked it so far away that it ended up as a pass to a Liverpool defender. One of our problems is that when we get down the flanks and cross it, no one ever seems to win a header in the penalty area.
  11. It does help if you understand the laws of the game, mystifying if you don't. Even those who do are perplexed by some decisions that only the referee can see, particularly in the scrum. Good win for England though.
  12. Gerrard regularly gets a yellow but after that he can do what he likes, never gets a second. So maybe the ref will do the same for Besic?
  13. Paddock, you're lucky, mine grows so fast its every 4 weeks - and its £14 down south!
  14. Louis, the light switch icon solved the problem. Sorry to trouble you.
  15. Matt, up to date on housekeeping, hoovered all the crumbs out of the keyboard and wiped the screen quite recently. (Couldn't put a smiley face here!) Seriously, everything is fairly up to date, Google Chrome latest version etc.,
  16. Quite often when I post on Toffeetalk it doesn't allow me to access emoticons even though under 'Post Options' the 'Enable emoticons' is ticked. There are occasions when I do have access but I have no idea what the reasons are for allowing and not allowing? Help please.
  17. Hope he does well as he started his football with a club I played for for many years - Yorkshire Amateur in Leeds.
  18. Lennon could be useful considering Martinez appears to have told Coleman not to venture past the halfway line.
  19. Rubes, sorry to hear your bad news. Was the damage to your car on the port or starboard side? MikeO, my wife's birthday is February too, 27 days before mine. For those 27 days she is a year older than me as I keep reminding her.
  20. The match report on Arsenal v Villa in the Telegraph said '(Villa's) central midfield was a wasteland........and Lambert's decision to start Westwood on the bench backfired. Tom Cleverley was anonymous.' I think that sums up Cleverley's career. Don't even want him as a squad player.
  21. MikeO, when I saw that you had posted on 'Useless Information' and 'Super Bowl' I got confused and though t I would find the Super Bowl score in Useless Information. I wouldn't have been surprised!
  22. It is certainly not funny but nor is it a tragedy as it is largely self-inflicted. I was reading an article recently which stated that there is large scale tax avoidance in Greece and much corruption. In most European countries (though there are other exceptions) people pay their taxes and don't see why they should bail out countries that don't.
  23. If he was acting as a 'senior player' involved in getting us out of the shit then, presumably, knowing Baines record on penalties, he would have let Baines take it. Baines didn't look exactly happy when Mirallas took the ball from him.
