Now you got me worried.  I thought he was saying, "I'm gonna be here in September, but nothing's literally assured, but people want to speculate about everything, especially bad news, and more especially about Everton."  So I thought he was generally saying, "F-off, all you vultures."
Without calling them "vultures," which isn't the Everton way.  Except maybe on TT.

Alli has to do so much better. That was a big opportunity and they did what they have done all game and just managed us out of it.

Nope [there’s a joke there], you’re not alone; and we’re not alone, either.
The amount of time and space in the cosmos is literally unimaginable, except in the limited sense of (just barely) mathematically imaginable by brilliant cosmologists and astrophysicists.  The photos from the Webb telescope, with presumably many more to come for years, will both fool us into thinking we can comprehend the amount of time and space out there while simultaneously showing us (literally) that out there is unimaginable.
Given that the amount of time and space out there is literally unimaginable,  it’s also inconceivable that we’re the only life-form in the cosmos.  It’s inconceivable that there are not thousands or millions or billions of life-forms out there.
And recent UFO investigations suggest that we’ve been visited by beings who are somewhere between 50 and 1000 years ahead of us technologically.  Whoa.

The cowardice of Republican officeholders is disgusting.   A meaningful number of them bitterly criticize Trump and Trumpism in private but will not risk being “primaried” by loony right-wingers, and so do not say publicly what they know to be true.
But I want to second dunlopp9987’s important point about “the people,” Trump’s base, those who think they are the “real Americans.”  The fundamental problem is the devastating symbiosis between “the people” — tens and tens of millions of Trump voters — and the no-longer-conservative Republican Senators and Representatives.
When Trump was elected President, legitimately, in 2016, appalled opponents desperately hoped he might “grow into the Presidency.”  When from his first weeks in office this was shown to be illusory, Democrats began to point out his many flaws.  Republicans, in turn, chortled that Democrats had succumbed to “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” that Trump “just drove ‘em crazy.”
In fact, Trump Derangement Syndrome does exist, affecting tens of millions of Americans: not his outraged opponents, but his own outraged supporters, for whom Trumpism is a fulminating scream at changes over a half-century in American life and culture.
Trump’s supporters are deranged.  The most extreme, the QAnon crowd, are the most obviously deranged.  But tens of millions of otherwise sane citizens — “real Americans, the people” — have lost their moral moorings, justifying all manner of ugliness, sometimes enthusiastically, more often simply by looking the other way, by averting their eyes and their consciences from things they would previously have denounced.
They are deranged.  They support a fascist movement.
The Trump plan is to win if possible, but more important steal if necessary, key positions at the local and state level in 6-8 key “swing states” in ‘22.  These positions, election officials responsible for counting and/or certifying the vote, if won by Trumpists, will be used, if necessary, literally to steal future elections.  Trump and his (repeat: tens of millions) supporters fully believe this is justifiable, as they are committed to the Big Lie, that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen from Trump.
So, going forward, we will find out how far the key 5% of so-called “moderate undecideds” will go to avert their eyes, to avoid seeing and recoiling from the elements of fascism that Trumpism is based on: fear of the dark-skinned Other, white supremacy, Christian white nationalism, racial purity, the legitimization of force, including murder.
Because Biden and the Democratic Party are not doing well in the polls, Democrats are desperate.  The looming Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade will perhaps energize a sufficient number of women to vote for Democrats this Fall.  This seems especially likely if some Trump states pass laws outlawing all abortions, period.  Or go further, and restrict access to contraception.  (Sounds crazy, I know.  They are deranged.)
And Democrats may — now — also run on the issues of gun safety, limiting access to weapons of mass murder, background checks, etc.
One essential question seems to be: will “undecided” women worry more about inflation and the (bogus) threat of Critical Race Theory than about democracy, fascism, the right to choose, and the murder of children?

As @StevO mentioned, see you back here for the next one. If congress couldn't pass legislation when 20+ white children were gunned down at Sandy Hook, there's not a chance they'll do anything when it's brown children in Uvalde.
Greg Abbott is a fucking monster and I am praying to whatever higher powers are out there that Beto kicks his ass this November.

Yours is a perfectly reasonable question.  Further, public opinion polls repeatedly show that the vast majority of Americans favor some forms of gun control.  So Democrats, admittedly in need of issues to campaign on the Fall, have an opportunity.  Republicans are, alas, probably only temporarily, on the defensive.
Two factors perhaps answer your question.  First, all that money from the NRA.  Are Republicans on this issue “selling their souls”?  Yes.
Second, Republicans can logically expect that their own children are statistically highly, highly unlikely to be murdered at school.  So mostly they can avert their eyes.

Wanted to make an observation about the bball coach Steve Kerr video linked in above posts by MikeO and StevO.
That strong statement is among the few that gun “advocates” might actually view, as they’re more likely to have been watching the NBA playoffs than any news program.  The evening Fox “news” programs don’t count as news.

I love that country so much, I’ve said it plenty of times on here, but days like today make me hate it just the same.
My wife and I had discussed moving to Florida so many times in the last few years, I keep a Zillow page open on my phone for properties in a neighbourhood we like and I check it every few days. I can’t imagine the possibility of dropping my daughter off at school in the morning and identifying her body later that day. Im upset just typing that. Fucking ridiculous.
See you all back here soon to discuss the next one. There will be a next one. Everyone with the power to make a difference knows there will be a next one, they will say their prayers and hope that will stop it while the money rolls in from the gun manufacturers.
