There's alot there so i'll summarize with my biggest hit, miss and under the radar move: Hit - Richarlison Miss - Delph Under the radar - Loaning Holgate to West Brom for the 2nd half of last season set him up for success this season or getting 22.5m for Lookman
  2. Away match on short rest after a 3 month break was always going to be difficult. Week off now to get the legs back and finish strong.
  3. Over/under 5 times a game: Carlo thinks to himself how did I end up managing a Sunday League team? This team is pitiful.
  4. Can't stand Iwobi but completely agree with you. He's earned his place for doing his job well in the derby and if he can't make an impact against Norwich can he ever? Same with Kean.
  5. Love these conversations: Stay: Pickford, Holgate, Baines, Richarlison, DCL, Digne, Mina, Bernard, Gomes, Coleman, Kean, Besic, Davies, Gbamin, Gordon, Kenny, Keane Loan: Virginia, Branthwaite Bin: Siggy, Delph, Tosun, Baningime, Adeniran, Niasse, Martina, Stek, Sidibe, Walcott
  6. Yea won't decide until after the season. Let's hope he signs.
  7. Off to a flying start!! Cuco and Niasse 99.99% to be released but not confirmed, same goes for youngsters Feeney, Mampala, Foulds, Denny, and Adedoyin. Garbutt and Tarashaj also 99.99% gone. IN: OUT: Schneiderlin LOAN IN: LOAN OUT: YOUTH: YOUTH pro deals: CONTRACT EXT: OFFICIALLY RELEASED: Stekelenberg(Ajax)
  8. They dominated possession sure. From my point of view there were 5 real scoring chances in the game and four of them were ours - Matip's header was the one for Liverpool. Alisson absolutely had more to do than Pickford.
  9. Such an interesting topic and highlights why continuous managerial changes are so problematic. We have been yo-yo-ing between formations since Martinez left. Walsh and Brands have both had their hits and misses but much of that is tied to formation/style. I'm really hopeful Carlo is here for awhile so we can buy/sell knowing we want to play 442. Martinez 4231 Koeman 433 Allardyce 4231 Silva 433 Ancelotti 442 That is a disaster and of course it shows in the midfield more than anywhere else. The same goes for our wingers as well. Bernard, Iwobi, Walcott all better suited for 433. I love Davies and Gomes in 433 because they need a deeper player to get stuck in and handle the more challenging defensive assignments. They're both good enough at getting out to the wings to cover opposing fullbacks. Then we don't have to play the outside mids as glorified wing backs. Unless Davies develops as a holding mid he and Gomes are the same player in a 442. Perhaps Gbamin can be that guy - not sure he was bought with 433 in mind as well. Delph is the guy but he's just a terrible player. 442 is best because it allows our best player by a country mile, Richarlison, to have the largest impact on the game. He was too isolated in Silva's system. Much of that because Siggy disappeared from planet earth. So disappointing.
  10. Takeaways: First time i can remember we outplayed them. Very encouraging for the remainder of the season. Iwobi is incredibly frustrating but it seems pretty clear he had a job to do and did it well. Carlo would have hauled him off a lot sooner if he wasn't. Coleman was outstanding. Van Dijk is an incredible player. Every time I see him play it's more impressive than the last. That said DCL was a warrior in there and deserves credit for the shift he put in on the best defender in the world.
  11. Exactly. He’s not playing for free at Bournemouth. And being focused on injury and yourself above playing and the team is exactly that selfish. Footballing zebras rarely change their stripes.
  12. Would have been a yes for me but he’s refused to finish the season with Bournemouth. Don’t want anyone willing to quit on their teammates regardless of the circumstances.
  13. It's Thiago Silva, as long as he has two legs it's an absolute yes. Raises the profile of the club and mentors Bernard and Richarlison. And for free?! Come on folks this is a no-brainer. We're likely to waste 100k a week on much much worse.
  14. Totally understand that perspective but what is the solution? Why would a huge international brand want to spend 10m a year on Everton kit? They could headline a pro golf tournament or F1 race for that kind of money and get 10x the return on their investment they would from us. Our place in the table is in direct correlation to the brands we are able to attract. Also I wouldn't say the top 6 have these super attractive names on their shirts: Utd/City/Arsenal are huge brands sure, Spurs/Liverpool are financial services (had to google as the states are totally unfamiliar with AIA and StandardChartered), Chelsea is yokohama tyres. I'm not being a wise guy, can you name a few companies/brands you would like to see?
  15. Over the moon with this. The 10m a year is just icing on the cake. Call me naive or stupid I don't care I support this club because of its values. This is Everton I'd rather have Cazoo for half the revenue of a SportPesa all day (in this case we don't have to worry about that). The kids can finally have the sponsor on the shirt. It's a British-owned business, and the only one to appear on the front of PL shirt as well. That says a lot about the club. They recognized they made a mistake and have done a fantastic job securing this deal.
  16. 15m Assuming season gets completed I actually think west brom or Leeds could be a great fit as promoted big clubs. Wages wouldn’t be as big an issue. Don’t know enough here, looks like this Gabriel fella is coming in.
  17. Was supposed to be there. First derby. Devastated. F***ing COVID-19 keeping us stateside. It's so selfish but if i'm being honest i hope we draw. I can't handle the thought of not being there to see the victory.
  18. How much credit do we give Duncan for DCL's growth?
  19. No way. We'll get smoked with a pairing of Gomes and Siggy. Who is going to cover more than a few feet of ground and actually put a legitimate tackle in? I don't want Siggy to start but if he does it has to be off the left in that creative role.
  20. Agreed but we're not in a position to fix all of our problems in one window. Especially considering how many we created in past ones. RB is a priority but I'd put CB, CM and RM above it. Going back to Marcel's direct quotes on having a squad of 23 players. 3 gks 8 def 6 mid 6 fwd. GK: Pickford, Lossl, JVirginia - good numberDEF: Holgate, Keane, Digne, Mina, Coleman, Kenny NEED CB and LBMID: Delph, Gylfi, Morgan, Andre, Gbamin, Davies - good numberFWD: Richarlison, Walcott, Iwobi, Bernard, DCL, Kean - good number Deadwood: Tosun, Bolasie, Sandro, Pennington, Connolly, Beni, Dowell My ideal activity: Buy new CB, Sell Keane and promote Lewis Gibson, resign Baines. Sell Gylfi and buy a more defensive mid replacement (so delph doesn't sniff the field), sell Morgan and keep Besic (not sure who we would buy and convince to be our 6th option/cover in midfield). Sell Walcott and buy replacement. Sell other deadwood. We could raise about 60-70mil in selling those players and would be spending about 100-120mil on a CB, DM and RM.
  21. We nearly got a result at Arsenal with a midfield of Siggy Morgan Delph and Iwobi. Stop for a quick second and just think about that. It's true Arsenal aren't very good but they've built some good momentum which can overcome lack of talent in stages - similar to Duncan's couple of games. Considering its importance losing that game is a big blow but we should be excited in knowing we can go to these 'bigger' clubs and compete. Not hope to nick a draw or fight for 1-0, I mean really compete by trying to outplay them. That's how you improve as a club. Love Carlo. Only knock on him is why he won't start Bernard consistently. Always changes the game for us. For the rest of the season i'd like to see pickford coleman mina holgate digne delph gomes walcott bernard richie dcl. Bring on iwobi or sidibe for walcott depending on score. siggy or kean for bernard again depending on score. Davies for gomes to see out matches. It kills me to put delph and walcott in there but they're the best options right now for what we're trying to do. Replace them in the summer and we're a really dangerous team.
