Another interesting difference between UK and American sports. In the US as mark suggests we're much more willing to cancel and pay out contracts. The idea being those players are taking reps from other players who could develop. It's worth noting the systems are different though as most American sports teams have 'professional' minor league teams (think of it like Everton would also field a team in League 1 and all of those players would be eligible to play in the Premier League at all times) rather than drawing directly from a youth team. Key difference i'd imagine.

SERIOUSLY WTF IS HE DOING? HE LOOKS LIKE A FLAILING CHICKEN. JUST DO YOUR JOB AND CATCH THE BALL. IT'S AN OVERHEAD KICK FROM 8 YARDS RIGHT AT YOU NOT A RONALDO THUNDERBOLT. -

Tom Davies
AlbanyNYToffee replied to markjazzbassist's topic in General Football and Sport Discussion
This conversation is fascinating! Despite the fact it's been disheartening to see him regress and struggle, I'm in the keep-camp because for me he is still our best CM option off the bench. Our CM depth until January is Davies, Siggy, Delph, Besic, Beni. Seems reckless to send Davies out...if Doucoure pulls a hammy then what? -
Yea this is just smoke and mirrors I think. We probably asked at the beginning of the window what the price was and haven't been back in contact since. He's just increasing his negotiating power with the other interested clubs.

Fleetwood (League Cup Away) Wednesday September 23rd
AlbanyNYToffee replied to markjazzbassist's topic in Match Days
Let's hope so but why can't he just go on Thursday now that we only have two fit CBs? Go let him train at Reading today and meet his teammates. Bring him back tmw to go over tactics and start him on Wednesday. Thursday make it official with Reading and let him go for the season. Reading were eliminated last round so being cup-tied is irrelevant now. -

Virginia Kenny Keane Gibson Nkounkou Iwobi Davies Delph Gordon Kean Bernard Assuming Delph is fit. If not Doucoure. Anything but Davies and Siggy sharing CM duties. -
West Brom (Home) Saturday September 19th
AlbanyNYToffee replied to markjazzbassist's topic in Match Days
No doubt. He had a total nightmare, definitely something to worry about with Holgate out for so long. Can't figure out why because it's largely irrelevant but I'm fascinated by the Iwobi/Kean situation. Found it odd when Iwobi replaced DCL instead of Kean. Found it odd when Kean replaced James. Found out absolutely shocking when Kean stayed right and Iwobi stayed up front even when they were on the field together. Will be watching that closely moving forward. -
Everton 2 - 0 West Brom Richarlison

Not quite - puts us in the last 8 - quarterfinals. Big break as well to that round, not contested until late December.
-
Still complete crickets on sales - Connolly, Pennington, Beni, Besic, Bolasie, Sandro, Tosun and loans - Gibson, Branthwaite, Simms, Broadhead, Adeniran.

You're absolutely right. Sorry i thought we forked over a couple hundred thousand in a transfer fee/tribunal. On a free this is even more incredible.

Considering how the market has evolved in the last 10 years this has shades of Seamus type value. Long way still but certainly stood out today.

Oh wow didn’t know Palace could do that, figured it was 75k max. You’re absolutely right, 80k won’t work then haha.

If Rom's first touch was dreadful Kean's is atrocious. Complete cinder blocks. As someone mentioned stop trying to get his back to goal and let him loose out in the wide areas to run at defenders. Rom ended up being great for us with headers and inside 12 yards. That's where Kean will succeed, not as a hold up striker.

Colombia is hardly the whole world Not looking good for Iwobi. No sign of Besic or Bolasie either. Almost got it. Interesting no Gibson in the squad. Must be close to a loan move?

Took a few mins on lunch to take a look at other PL clubs and how they approached this round. Found it even more interesting than anticipated. So far Newcastle, West Ham, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Fulham have announced lineups. # of starters from PL game to start Cup game: Newcastle: 1 Javier Manquillo West Ham: 1 Issa Diop Palace: 0 West Brom: 1 Dara O'Shea Fulham: 2 Denis Odoi and Neeskens Kebano For those saying most of these are just trying to avoid relegation I completely agree with you but wouldn't we also expect their fans to say avoiding relegation is more important than Round 2 of the Carabao Cup. It's a very similar argument to the top 4/6 convo. @SpartyBluesaid it well above. We have a squad of players use them. It's a gosh darn League 2 side!

Espn+ baby! They've got contracts for both cups.
