As has been mentioned, thats the issue. We've already got a temperamental winger who is light-years ahead of him talent-wise. 15m is a lot of money for someone who may or may not turn up. If thats true, put 5m aside for a bumper contract for Mirallas and get Lennon in for 5-7m please.
 
He is a good player, but at the money being touted it's too much of a stretch for me.

I can't believe some of this argument is still on going.
How about we look at motm votes on TT, it's a good cross section of opinions from evertonians, more votes for big games, less votes for small games with little interest. Rom has the most votes of any player this season.
 
Yes we paid a lot for him, and £28m might have got someone better. But who? And would he be happy on less than £100k a week?
Last summer Rom was probably the best player available, willing to come to Everton, and fit in with our wage structure, with resale value and potential to improve.
 
Do we expect 30 goals a season? It's a while since we had a player even come close. If Rom gets 20 goals this season I will consider him to have had a good season, particularly with the season we've had.

He played two DM to cover for the fullbacks when they bombed on which hasn't happened this year so why carry on playing them?
 
We also played with 2 wingers giving us width and we were zipping the ball about rather than rolling it along the back 4 and getting up the field quickly

Undoubtedly Arsenal are stronger going forward than they are at the back.
Martinez has picked a team against them that plays right to their strengths.
A side like Arsenal can find ways to break you down and score. We needed t be at them attacking with pace and pressuring them high up the pitch.

Someone else made the 8 men behind the ball comment. I don't have a problem with that so much if 4 of them are prepared to break/join the attack quickly bug that wasn't the case.

When they had the ball they ran with it and when they passed they moved forward , think maybe Bobby could nick that strategy for the next game

This game presents a real chance for us to get a bit of momentum going and put a bit of day light between ourselves and the teams below us, whilst also closing the gap on the teams above us ( Newcastle and Swansea play the 2 Manc teams )anything short of 3 points would be a real disaster
 
 
We have played reasonably well against the bigger teams but this is the type of game we have struggled in all season so it will be interesting to see if Roberto has learned anything. We need to play with 2 wingers and go for the jugular not play pedestrian football with Naismith and Barkley out of position. They will sit back and make it difficult for us to break them down so do we really need 2 defensive midfielders?
