As Redknapp said about McCarthy pre game, it stuck in my mind...

"He is the thinking man's footballer..."

    After the game...

He can play for any team in the Premier League, the ability he has and the way he controls games. It was a bit of a risk for Roberto Martinez to play him as he hasnt played in a while but it paid off. He was the best player on the pitch for them.

    Carragher...

"Roberto Martinez said he cant be without him, he is the only one he cant replace, and I thought he was outstanding," he said.

"He is a top midfielder player and he had the most tackles in the game, even though its his first game back. Coutinho and Steven Gerrard have been vital for Liverpool in the last few weeks and he nullified them.

"He is not just a destructive player with great energy but he can play as well. He is a midfield player who ticks every box, the only thing he lacks is goals."

    Clueless idiots.

In the middle? Not having that. He's been brought in to play where he's always played surely? We've been crying out for another winger who likes to beat the full back and get balls in the box. Cannot ever see Martinez bringing him in to play in the middle.

Patto, you are smart enough to know how these things work. 99/100 of these rumours dont happen and you never know if the club was interested in the first place unless they actually come out on the os and say "we were interested but lost out"

Rumours are rumours, you cant base your opinion on RM on a bunch of rumours.

You're a proper weapon you mate, honest to god you are.

Save your lets poke fun at the scousers and snigger then throw the "sense of humour" card in for someone who cares.

I'm perfectly calm I just wasn't sure about you and was curious about the bin dipper remark. Now I know and I said to leave it.

    Leave it I shall now.

    Have a good evening.

Humours great, calling us derogatory names like that isn't humour in my book. I've been going to football a long time and been in plenty of rucks, the term bin dipper is a derogatory one.

Lets just leave it there eh.

The lads can go out with their heads held high tonight, played some fast pacey football tonight and none of that slow boring stuff we have been so used to a few weeks back! Also a special mention to Joel, he pulled of some stunning saves and looked really comfortable in goal tonight, lets hope this is a sign to come and the reason Bobby has stuck by him! Theres something about watching Everton on a week night i swear it gets to me much more!

Hennessey is a clown, no better than Howard. Marshall, though, I'd have him for sure.

Cheers for my first game at Goodison Park today! I haven't been active because I have been in London for a month, and I finally got to go the grounds today for my first match. Just got back from Liverpool.

Impressions on the game: Joel Robles is rocky, but his kicking accuracy is much better than Howard's

    - Feels so good to have Stones back in the line-up, much better than Distin in every way. Big aerial threat, particularly on defending corners. Past mistakes have included leaving a man free on the far post for the extra cross or shot.

    - Besic is a work in progress. Very talented player, but lacks confidence at times.

    - McGeady is our weakest link. How the hell is this guy starting.

    - Lukaku is fantastic. We need to play more direct to him. Lukaku and Naismith were the only players who showed up to play 90 mins.

Impressions on my first time in Liverpool:
    - Being from the U.S., you hardly never see anyone with Everton kits, and it felt so great to be at Lime St and you just see everyone with their kits and scarves ready to go. You feel the energy and just being in Liverpool with my Everton jersey really energized the hell out of me. More importantly, I only saw one koppite.

    - Goodison Park is more beautiful that I could have expected. I really understood what people mean when they say it is a more "classical" ground.

    - The energy in the stadium was fantastic. Singing "Grand Old Team," yelling at McGeady, and shouting down Man City fans was a blast.

This is really a world class team.

I can remember when David De Gea first went to Man Utd and the amount of blunders he made, the fans were giving him all sorts of stick and now look at him. In the top 3 best keepers in the world imo. I'd give Robles time and hopefully he can turn into the keeper we all want him to be.

Antonio Montana got a reaction from Matt in Luke Garbutt to Liverpool
I'd try Garbutt in left midfield just in front of Baines to see how he develops there, a bit like when Moyes used to use Coleman on the right wing.

Okeefe nailed it, absolutely nailed it. Far too much has been made of our style of play, for me it wasn't that, it was Roms attitude.

Its a worry, for years we had Duncan ferguson frustrating us when he wasn't quite interested. The thing is, when he wasn't interested he still had a minimum level of quality that was higher than Roms. When Rom isn't interested he really is shite.

I understand Ferguson after reading his book. He wasn't lazy, it wasn't that he didn't care. He needed to be accountable, he needed to be given a challenge. He was a better player than we seen, his natural football talent was up there with the best. I'm reading Ronnie O'Sullivan's book at the moment. He is the most talented Snooker player ever but suffers from his chimp brain taking over.

I actually think Rom needs sports psychology. He needs to understand his triggers. As ive said before he is either 9-10 out of ten or 5-6 out of ten. There is no standard.

Players like McCarthy or naismith will get you 7/10 as a minimum because if their mentality. Even when things ain't great they stick at it and work for the team.
